Very nice tutorial's you put out. Very detailed and just easy to understand. Ive been painting for a while now and i learned a few things from you. Its ranked with one of the best airbrush tutorials on youtube in my book.
Waw man its looks very easy when I watch you painting but when I try to paint i get angry from my selv but I wil not give up thanks thanks thanks i enjoy to see you painting you are the Best. 🙏👍😉
amazing work, please do some of those grids as im learning that at minute, doing a jack sparrow portrait, would you know the mix for his skin tones, im kinda struggling with around his eyes as not sure if its pure black and also his main tones. i use illistrations too, your mixes are brilliant and helps take the guess work out which struggle a lot on. im doing a3 board thats made for airbrushing on :) maybe you could do jack so can inspire me more :)
Learned more again this week and as always, enjoyed every minute. You mentioned using the grid method to transfer an image. I'd be very interested in this too, particularly in scaling the size up or down. Also could you mention briefly, your source of interesting photographs. I'm currently drawing freehand. The results are acceptable I suppose, but improving too slowly for my liking. Stay safe and thanks again!
Thanks man! Glad to hear it. Yeah, I'll be including grids in future videos. So far every painting on this channel is based on photos I've purchased from Adobe Stock. It's been so useful. Keep working on your drawings and you'll learn to see forms and values better and better. Just takes time, but you'll get there. It's a life long thing I think. I'm always learning too.
wow thank you so much for joining as a member!! so generous of you, Carl! Glad you are enjoying the videos. It really means a lot to me and I'll be thanking you for this in this week's video.
Nice job! I liked that it was done in one video and how easy you made it look. Is there a reason to spray at 20psi? perhaps to get more texture? Thank you for producing such great quality videos!
Really been looking forward to this one and you didn't disappoint! Excellent portrait work. That girl is beautiful. Love the longer videos too. As M. Shibli mentioned, I get upset as well when I think I've messed it up or can't figure out how to translate what I see in my reference onto the canvas. For values, I've found making a threshold adjustment layer in Photoshop helps me to see where exactly I need to darken or lighten. I think you recommended using a hard copy for reference, but for those of us who don't have printers, looking at a tablet or monitor is our only option. I guess there are advantages to both. I've been wanting to ask too what kind of respirator or ventilation methods you use? On his website, Dru Blair suggests an air filter bungee-corded to a box fan. Just wondering what you thought of that.
Thank you! Yes, that photoshop method can be very helpful in seeing values clearly. Nothing wrong with using a good tablet or monitor for your reference! I just think a printed image is more natural as it's reflected light, rather than emitted. It's just my preference. Someday I'm going to set up a professional air extraction system, but for now I just use a n-95 mask for lighter work and a 3M respirator with p100 filters for larger things like varnishing. Although I usually varnish outside because it can be a mess!
Great and super thanks. Some other issues. How do you get the tip of the pencil (Tombow) so sharp? (what angle?) What do the inscriptions 6B, HB, 2B, 2H and so on mean? Will Illustration paint be difficult to erase if you add "4030 Balancing Clear"? (or uvls) (provides even more transparency, and thus better control of nuance) Is it possible to get your whole "mural" so I can try my hand at just this? (roughly resolution) (missing a bit of the bottom, shirt in video?) Again super thanks for making all of us better understand.
Any electric pencil sharpener will work. The numbers and letters designate the value of the graphite and I never use balancing clear with my paint. Not needed for me. Sorry I won't be adding any more from this one. I'll try to include more of the reference in future videos. Best of luck to you!
Hi, as usual great and fantastic. I can't find "skin texture shield" at 22:57 at the provided Amazon link? Please help? Also please size of canvas? No highlights (erraising) on upper lip?
Thanks! I make the skin texture templates myself. here is the video on how to make your own- ua-cam.com/video/Yd1lv7_Ctuw/v-deo.html Canvas is 18x24" and correct, I didn't erase any highlights out on the upper lip. I did pull out highlights above it (on the skin) though!

May I ask a question here, I notice that you use these shields and textures. can you buy them through any specific set or sets? I am highly impressed and amazed by the expert and professional effects of your airbrush use. what kind of airbrush gun are you using? I use both an Iwata and The Pasche "Talon" for my artwork, but your Airbrush tutorial is highly educational, and will study your tutorials with a lot of focus!
Thanks man. I love the pasche talon- such a cool airbrush. I'm using a Iwata Micron Takumi in this one. The shields and skin texture templates are ones I makes myself. I made a video on this called "Make Your Own Shields..." Check that one out!
@@theartworkshop Thank You again for your response. I spent over an hour watching your tutorials, and I am still amazed by your linear procedures, especially with the human eyes and eyelids, so I will diligently follow your instructional videos-also, I will gladly pay you if you can make me your shields and skin texture templates-I'm afraid I do not know how to make these things on my own, but I will gladly pay you within reason-but also, I'd like to watch the video on how to make your own shields, but I am very serious about paying you-do you also have DVDs of your tutorials available?
@@MONGOOSE1ful Thanks man that means a lot to me! In the next few months I'll be adding some easier step by step ones. Sorry, I'm just too busy to make and sell shields or templates. You can poke a bunch of holes in a piece of paper with a tack to get a pretty good skin texture template. I did this all the time back in the day! I actually have a video on this coming out so stay tuned.
Simply masterful. What airbrush are you using there? I’m running with a .20 mm nozzle and shooting any paint straight from the bottle is not an option. Even your skin tone recipe listed in this one would be too thick for me I think.
Thanks! I'm using a micron with a .18, so you'll be fine with a .20mm nozzle. I like to thin 10-20% with distilled water and spray at 20psi. This is with createx illustration colors; works great!
15oz cotton duck, prepared myself. Here is my video on how to make your own- ua-cam.com/video/gaUz8z43adA/v-deo.html No, it's not like Dru Blair's. I'm not a fan of any airbrush paper, but try them and see what you like best.
Was just wondering ? If you would be interested in doing a detailed video on how you go about drawing up your images and how much detail you go into . If not i understand 👍Thank you.
Do you clear coat your work once complete? If so, what do you use? Are you waiting a few days for the paint to cure first? So many questions! Maybe this requires a video..😉
You make tutorials the way their suppose to be made you explain everything you're doing. I'm really glad I found this channel
I appreciate that. thanks man.
I’ve learned a lot of your lessons by trial and error. I wish I found you a long time ago. Instant sub!
man your on another level to most of us humans , but thank god for people like you , MOST MOST appreciated
Thanks man. Hope it's helpful!
I don't usually comment, but I just like you to know your video tutorials are top notch, and believe me I've watched a lot of tutorial videos.
I really appreciate that. Very kind of you! Thanks so much.
As someone who is not in this industry, I had no idea you could attain this level of detail with an airbrush. Most excellent work.
thanks!
Great Video, Thank You! I really like the longer more complete how to videos!
love your videos, I'm a struggling artist and I need all the help I can get LOL! looking forward to your next one!
Thank you I really enjoy the video and it helps me
Excellent. Explaining every little nuance is the mark of a great teacher in any field. Makes me feel like I can achieve this technique. Thank you.
I appreciate that. Thanks!
Sensacional! Perfeito! lindo o desenho....
Thanks for this fantastic video,my friend.
As allways very usefull content, hope you continue posting videos. Thank you very much

Yes, I mix the colors together in a separate container as a new color.

fuking amazing!!!
I have a brain error trying to understand how it is possible to paint like that
Great tutorial and helpful tips but geeze really heavy on the commercials!
