Around the turn of the 20th century, a group of Holy Spirit-filled Christians emerged that placed a high emphasis on life-change by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit, and unique empowerment for ministry by the baptism of the Holy Spirit (evidenced by the sign of speaking in tongues). Watch as Dr. Scott Kisker continues his Seven Minute Seminary teaching on the origins of Pentecostalism.

Most traditional Pentecostals know next to nothing about church history even their own.

There is much much more than that to the history of this movement, but that was an interesting summary in such a brief blip of time. Amazing that he was able to pull that one off. Thanks.

Yes, and many Assembly of God churches have hardly any members that have the experience any more. They also are more like a traditional Baptist church (Which isn't necessarily bad) rather than a Pentecostal church. I know because I was a member back in the 1960s and at other times when they still had the fire. They are not Pentecostal anymore.

AOG should have stayed with the COGIC they would still have the FIRE

@@holydance4330 Do you think so? Hardly. COGIC began as a holiness movement before they became Pentecostal. Their roots were in holiness. Today they are having problems with homosexuals, and all kinds of perversions. It is sad. Revival is needed everywhere.

@@louisaccardi2268 They are a holiness/ pentecostal church to this day , they still preach against sin Israel had its problems with sinners in the camp,JESUS had his problems with disciples backsliding, the Apostles had their share of sin in the churches ...but we keep on fighting the good fight of faith...my comment was really about the AOC being comatose no fire very subdued unlike COGIC

Are you for, or against these beliefs? Either way, thank you for the history lesson.

That was not the purpose of this video. It would be difficult to do an expose in seven minutes.
