  • In this class we worked many of the basic Berimbau rhythms:
Angola, Sao Bento Pequeno, Sao Bento Grande de Angola and Sao Bento Grande de Bimba.
we explored how the final Note in Angola and SB Pequeno is actually the 4th count in the bar and how that is where the major slap or accent lies with the pandeiro and the Atabaque.
These 2 rhythms' actually start their 4 count with a rest before the chiado sound. The extra DOM sound that is added to turn SB Pequeno into SB grande is actually made on the 1 count.... pretty hard to fathom but ill spend some time in videos to come that will help to explain this idea in greater depth. We added two songs to the video and have added the lyrics to help you learn them.
There is also an underlying connection between the 2 songs. It's important to understand what context or elements exist in a song so that when we sing we can keep a theme going even if we change songs. This kind of music journey shows an educated Capoeirista.

Can you make a video on berimbou basic sounds. I would love to practise on my own time.
