- Palmetto State Park
Palmetto State Park is south a tad east of San Antonio. The park is just 4 miles from Interstate 10. Palmetto has two completely separate camping loops. Sites 1 - 19 are electric sites while sites 20 - 40 are non electric. The non electric also includes a group site and a cabin which does have electricity. The San Marcos River separates the two camping loops.
The non electric sites are where the playground is located, and it is one of the best playgrounds we've seen in Texas State Parks. On the weekends, lots of locals visit Palmetto State Park. The non electric side has prettier campsites, but the electric side has many more trails.
If you have time for only one trail, we recommend the Palmetto Trail. It's only a third of a mile, but it takes you by the water tower with a pump built by the CCC. Today the water there is used for the wetlands in the park.
None of the trails in the park have much elevation change. (Just an FYI, Palmetto State Park in Texas does not have alligators. The Palmetto in Louisiana does have gators. A ranger told us they get that question a lot.)
Fishing is an option of things to do at Palmetto State Park. The pier was close to our campsite, and we made good use of it. Hiking, fishing, biking, and simply enjoying the beauty of the park are some of the things we enjoyed during our stay at Palmetto State Park.
Thank you for the positive review. I am one of the park host here at Palmetto and I love this little gem of a park. The ecosystem here is unique. Many species of plants that is totally out of place in this part of Texas.
That is truly one of the prettiest state parks we've visited. The park is pristine, so the hosts are doing a great job. Thank you for the pride you take in the park.
I really enjoy how informative and entertaining your videos are. I will be traveling to Texas this August just to camp because of your vids. Thank you as always 🫶

Thank you both. A good review of a lovely park. Of course, all your reviews are good. :) Btw, I love MiLena's t-shirt. Stay safe and happy camping.
We love Palmetto State Park. By the way, Sharon gets rescue dogs, and I choose rescue cats.
Great video! Thank you both.
Thank you so much for watching.
Thank you ladies. You always describe the park in a way that I want to visit it.
This is the prettiest little state park. If you can, we highly recommend that you visit it.
Thank you for the review! I think I may do that one for one of my fall campouts this year. (Unless there's swimming/tubing? Then it may call my name for the summer...) You ladies do such a great job on your park reviews. Question: how do you get such great footage of your bike rides? I just got an ebike this year and would like to try and get better video.
I am just guessing that you can swim in the river. About the footage from the bikes, Sharon wears a Go Pro on her chest. We've been very pleased with the videos.
That is properly called a "Sounder" of hogs.
Thanks for letting us know.
