I'm leaving this comment here so after a month or a year when someone likes it, I get reminded of this game and can watch it again.
You made it two weeks, amigo. Go Huskers!
GBR!!!
Kstate fan here. The energy in that stadium was off the charts
Worth the watch.
One of the loudest games I have ever been to at Memorial Stadium.
Why. 20+ years later, am I ‘still pumping my fist when we block a punt?
LETS GO CATS!!!
Brown “Brothers”! Great team!
That’s crazy he was talking about college football playoff back in the 90’s that tells you it should of been one a long time ago
I can tell this is a Charlie M. Defense
Mark Simoneau with 14 tackles in this game for K-State.
As a Husker fan, he was a hell of a linebacker
@@sorney98 He was easily one of the best the Big XII conference has ever had
I forgot how tough Eric Crouch was
Everybody in the stands counted down. 5-4-3-2-1. Awesome!
I blocked a punt out the end zone then got stuck on the return ... I was to hype and distracted lol ... an amazing day
Who thought that annoying insert was a good idea?
84 degrees in Lincoln on November 13 - that's never happened before or since.
actually it was 85 deg. 83 yrs earlier, it only got to 19.
walterlv01 rarely it happens but it’s happened before in November in Nebraska
Rob Johnson you can’t say a word on weather in Nebraska unless you’ve lived here.
one of the main reasons we fumbled so much is the Solich kept calling option to the short side of the field and it messes up the angles for the pitch
Osborne did that too. The theory is that if you fumble the pitch it has a greater chance of going out of bounds. Also when you run to the short side / weak side of the field and you pull a guard you get superior numbers blocking down field.
@@mrh3085 WTF. You successfully run a play over and over and rarely fumble and the reason you run it to the short side is bec of something that rarely happened. That's an asisine description.
@@robjohnson8861 what you don’t know about option football would fill 1000 Cathedrals. #troll
@@mrh3085 idiot. You don't design something for a failure that rarely happens. Now the superior numbers hold water.
@@robjohnson8861 My your panties are tight.
The pbp guy(Nessler) still does games as of 2023
I watched Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson do the weekly "SEC on CBS" for years. Besides the Nebraska game, it was the highlight of college football Saturday for me.
Sadly, the Nessler/Danielson duo ended with the last SEC regular season game in November, 2023. The CBS deal with the SEC has ended and CBS' new contract is with the Big Ten.
man...i forgot how good a TE Tracy Winstrom was when healthy...
"Winstrom?" really?
miss this type of play! GBR
Real shame we had to lose Solich so quickly.
Yo years later we got a college football playoffs
Yeah, we definitely would've been in the playoff if they had it in '99
awesome beatdown
The fumbling issue that the Huskers had this season was on full display in this game, despite the beatdown.
Regarding the fumbling, It was an even bigger problem in the 1984 season when Nebraska lost two games ranked as the #1 team in the country and averaged three turnovers per game. The 1984 offense was not as potent (especially after Jeff Smith hurt his ankle) but the defense was the best (if not the) in the country - similar to this team.
The 1999 Huskers lost 25 fumbles in 12 games, and fumbled the ball almost twice as much overall.
Lastly about the 1999 regular-season the Texas loss was one of the more nauseating losses during their 1982-2001 "Golden Age" before Colorado and Miami put the death knell on the Husker program with respect to National Championship relevancy.
@@gynandroidhead Ah 1984, the year BYU was AP champs. Neb finished #4 and you referenced them why? On yeah, Osborne fumbling another season away to Switzer (5-12) (at Lincoln) the last game of the season. "Golden Age," cough, as mentioned 5-12 against Switzer, a losing bowl record (12-13), 4 bowl wins over coaches who retired with a combined 35-38 (5-9, 11-10, 11-12, 8-7) bowl record, winning NCs when OU was totally irrelevant and ranked only 1 in the last 5 years (16) when they met.
@@robjohnson8861 I'm a fan of both OU and Nebraska, not sure why you're so desperate to discredit Nebraska, why you're on a video of 1999 Nebraska-K-State. And what's with the odd stats no one cares about? Nebraska was good for many seasons, but not great. They did step up to an elite level in the 1990's and completely dominated, didn't matter what teams were on top. OU's had quite a history of choking away big games and NC's as well, and most of their national championships are pretty questionable, a lot more than Nebraska's NC's, look them up. Both programs have been strong, OU has been better, but they're both strong programs, though Nebraska's struggling right now.
@@dadestarmysteries255 Follow along Dader. Gyn man mentioned 1984 and Neb's defense. 1984 was a joke (see the part about the national champions, BYU). BYU played 1 ranked team (Pitt) the entire year and Pitt finished with 7 losses. Neb finished #4 behind BYU. Wow.
Ok. I bring stats and you bring opinions. Neb was never an elite program under Osborne. I am all over these threads. Stat after stat after stat about the 60-3 run. The media embraced Osborne bec it was a feel good story and it is really pathetic that he garnered the attention he did. Yes 60-3 was good, but not great because 2 CO teams were the only impressive teams they played/beat. Whoops. CO faced an unranked Notre Dame in 94 in the bowl game. How in the hell can #4 face an unranked team in the bowl. Another game to add to the list. See KSU and Kan bowl opponents in 95.
One of my latest editions regarding "the run" bowl games.
93: Lost to Bowden who finished w a 22-10 bowl record. A very good bowl coach. Osborn was 0-4 in bowls against him.
94: Beat Erickson who finished 5-9. 93: Shutout by Arizona 29-0 92: Lost 34-13 to Bama. Erickson with his players, was piss poor in bowls.
95: Beat Spurrier who finished 11-10. 1 game above 500 gets a lousy bowl coach rating. Trouncing a lousy bowl coach means what?
96: Beat Beamer who finished 11-12 in bowls. Most bowl losses 1) Edwards, 2) Osborne, 3) Beamer
97: Beat Fulmer who finished 8-7 and had a losing record to every good and a few bad coaches he faced. Specifically, a losing record to Spurrier, Richt, Saban, Meyer, Miles, Tuberville, Paterno, Solich, Weiss, and Tyrone Willingham. TN was ranked #9 and unranked ND comes in to Neyland and wins. Osborne's win over Fulmer and "flopped when it mattered", Manning was not impressive. Hell, Solich left Neb 2-3 in bowls and 1 of his was against Fulmer. Maybe Solich is a great coach. 20 years of Neb/Ohio now and 1 conference championship.
So to recap: The 4 coaches he beat during the 60-3 run had a combined record of 35-38 in their bowl history. Try and make the argument that is impressive. Even if you want to throw out Erickson, Osborn beat 3 coaches with a 30-29 record. Don't mention Osborne's name and tell someone that your favorite "great" coach beat 3 coaches with a 30-29 record and see what kind of laughs you get.
I will create an Osborne site one day. 12-13 validated his "impressive" run at 9+ win seasons.
The Huskers STILL can't secure the hall.
Or the ball
Ric Flair theme at kickoff. Limo riding, jet flying WOO, kiss stealing wheeling dealing son of a gun! WOO!
And GBR!
go big red
No balloons!?
It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if K-State would have won this game and rematched Texas in the Big XII title game.
Nebraska did exactly that and destroyed Texas in the Alamo Bowl.
Also would have been interesting to see if K-State would have played a less aggressive style of defense against Nebraska with more zone. Playing man to man completely plays into the hands of the option offense especially those great Nebraska teams
@@alexkain8564 agreed. Unfortunately this wasn’t one of those great Nebraska option teams. Solich wasn’t the play caller Osborne was and Crouch became to much of Nebraska’s offense while he was there. If you had the talent and could neutralize Crouch the rest of the offense couldn’t beat you. Great Charlie McBride defense though.
Honestly I gotta disagree with you on this not being a great Nebraska option team. They literally ran through their entire schedule like it was Swiss cheese. The one loss to Texas they avenged in the Big XII title game. Then they beat Tennessee handily in the Fiesta Bowl by 10 points. K-State finished 11-1 and got blitzed by this team 41-15. 12-1 record is great in my opinion
@@alexkain8564 absolutely a great season! We where unbeatable in the Alamo Dome! Just feel there were better NU option teams that didn’t have the fumble issues this one had where there were more offensive weapons. Like I said Crouch was great, but he became to big of a percentage of our offense. By the time 2001 came along it was the Eric Crouch show. If you neutralized him running you could beat Nebraska. GBR!!!
Nebraska (B1G) vs Kansas State (Big XII)
Has there ever been a worse color guy than Bob Griese?
Pat Hayden
Bill Synder (KSU) was 5-36 lifetime against top 10 teams. Although this was a rout, the next season, asswipe Solich would be one of the 5 that Synder beat.
Says the asswipe rob 30 IQ johnson.
You're not even a good troll, chuckles.
@@pretorious700 hey chuckles, what part of the facts above do you disagree with and why? Thought so.
pretorious700 he’s a worthless troll. Look at all the Husker videos. He trolls pretty much all of them. He’s a mama’s boy sitting in his basement commenting on videos thinking he’s so smart when he’s not
@@robjohnson8861 a year later and still waiting for your facts
Blah blah
This is way back when Husker fans thought they had something. Then they joined the Big 10😂😂😂
