Stevie Is a true professional. The guys with no ego are the best in the business.
Stevie was never in a position to have an ego. He was never "the guy" in any promotion he was in.
Why would a job guy have an ego?
I mean OP is right, he could be like ole sparky plugg. He was literally in a faction called the J.O.B. squad.
@ JD That's true, but as a big Stevie mark from back in the day it certainly seemed like he was going to get a huge push in 97 if he didn't join Raven in leaving for WCW. Was he gonna be bigger than Tazz, RVD, or Dreamer as a Babyface contender? Hard to say, but he was at least on that level in 97
@@southbeachtalent No way. He was always a weak lackie. His strength was that he was funny. That's good for a sidekick, but not for a guy you're pushing to the main event.
Stevie was my next door neighbor as a kid when he worked at ECW. Was mad nice to all the kids. We would knock on his door just to say hi and to see a wrestler and he would always answer and say hi to us. Never forgot that, one of my coolest memories growing up.
That’s awesome dude. He does seem like a chill dude. Bradshaw , not so much.
That checks out, seems like a very down-to-earth guy
So he was a randy robinson. Pretty cool!
Вот это клёво
Did he ever invite the neighborhood kids to give him the bronco buster
Stevie is an underrated talent.
Big Stevie Cool was a better Diesel than Kevin Nash
Underrated? You say that about all mid carders from that era, moron
100% underrated
Indeed. Same could be said for so many wrestlers, it's kinda sad seeing these guys sustain life long injuries and not get anything to show for it...
not only a genuinely nice human being but the best hand a company could ask for.
That chair shot made Stevie Richards my hero! A buddy of mine was an wrestler that got used as a jobber when WWF came to town a few times, and JBL (according to him before all the info started coming out about him) seemed to go out of his way to find the local talent and just shit talk them about how rich he was compared to them, and would basically try and punk them before the matches knowing if they said anything they’d never get hired as a local talent and certainly not as a WWF talent, and then he’d call spots and not follow what he said to catch them off guard or he’d just go out and run roughshod over them. Just total douchebag bully crap.
Now apparently Scott Hall was a true class act back then. Said he’d try to get a decent match out of whoever because he was always wanting whoever to get their best showing and possibly get hired or at least get a good tape. From the stories he and a few others told it, Hall was the epitome of professional when it came to pre-match and in ring work.
I mean, it's hearsay, but I believe it. Pretty much everyone agrees that JBL was a douche to anyone he could get away with. For all of Scott Hall's issues, the history suggests he was always trying to help people in the business.
look up when hall changed a finish to put jericho over. scott hall knew his worth and didn't mind going out of his way to help others, especially when he knew who had talent.
@@rickylucas6503 I hadn’t heard of that. Hall sounds like a really solid guy by all accounts. Hate his life was so turbulent off screen.
You gotta think though Scott Hall really just hurt himself as many of us who've battled addiction do. He would help others, but hurt himself since he hated that he k that guy in self defense. I've seen that Walking on a Razors Edge they made before he died, and he went into detail about it.
@@DCOWBOYS4LIFE killed by self defense. there are so many ways it could've been avoided but it wasn't. very unfortunate for both the victim and scott. he never got over it.
Stevie looks INCREDIBLE! The years have been very kind to him & it's good seeing Stevie healthy
DDP Yoga
He's actually very unhealthy right now at this point watches interview about sickness has the same one he's actually in a wheelchair spine sickness
DDPY
Are you serious?😂 he is unrecognizable and sounds differently too! Wtf he went thru
Yeah I remember him in 2011 on UA-cam and being impressed
I’ve seen a few of his interviews now and I gotta say Stevie Richards is one of those guys who might not have been a huge superstar but he’s a top notch human being
He truly is. His wrestling analysis channel is also top notch. Stevie is the man.
JBL desreved that chair shot, Stevie did that for all of the wrestlers & staff he bullied for years.
He didn't though, he literally just said lol JBL probably took harder chair shots from others.
It was a receipt from One Night Stand.
JBL unfairly went after Blue Meanie.
Tbh JBL deserved every chair shot that landed on him and then some lol.
@@smac919 Richards just said that it wasn't a receipt at all, and that the whole idea that it WAS a receipt came from JBL himself to get both of them some attention.
From what I read somewhere, Meanie had stitches in his head from blading in a match the night before (a different ECW tribute show, in fact, run by Shane Douglas) so while Bradshaw was probably working stiff (and maybe even a bit drunk), he didn't intend to bust his head open.
@@jonathancampbell5231 I mean dude is an asshole but he did agree to the receipts well from jbl perspective that's what he admitted it was it's true he actually felt bad about this one.
Yeah he did. He deserved it.
Stevie is one of the biggest class acts in wrestling. Absolutely no one would blame him for intentionally stiffing JBL. Stevie and Meanie had about the most clear-cut beef in wrestling history, and Stevie had every right to defend his friend. And even now he claims he didn’t mean to hurt JBL. If the world was more like Stevie, it’d be a lot more pleasant.
Give me the Stevie Richards episode soon. This guy is amazing and Underated.
Never liked Steven Richards characters but what a class human being he is. There should be more people like him.
Well if it wasn't actually a shoot receipt, it's one of the biggest "Ball Don't Lie" moment in wrestling.
Stevie’s one of those unsung heroes in wrestling. A decent guy about everything handed to him and never bitches.
Except bitches about r rated movies and blood and nudity along with Ivory, goodfather, and Bull Buchanon with an annoying siren sound 😉
Happy to see Stevie looking well after his illness
I really wish AEW would hire a guy like Stevie Richard's for the back. The guy has always been one of the best.
I dare say that in 97 Stevie was every bit as talented as HBK.
@@perfectblindguy lol no.
They got guys like Dean Malenko and Jerry Lynn, they are good.
He needs to be AEW champion.
They had William Fucking Regal and none of those kids in back in AEW had any interest in learning from him. None of them would respect Stevie either. I doubt they wanted input from guys like Sting either
Stevie was in the first ECW match that I ever saw. The Richards & Raven vs the Pitbulls in the 2/3 falls double dog collar match blew me away and got me hooked.
That match was great from what I recall. Is that the one where Raven landed short on the table from a superbomb and smacked the back of his head on the edge? They used that clip on hardcore tv for a while
@goat666db it was. I think I remember Raven saying that the Pitbulls did not want him to kick out of the Super Bomb, so that spot was actually planned. Raven joked that it made him look like Superman kicking out after almost getting decapitated.
A five star match and widely regarded as the best ECW match ever.
I remember watching that on the ECW Documentary dvd made from WWE from back in the day. I remember being blown away by it and it still holds up!
@Joshua Berger I was raised in South Jersey. I stumbled onto it as I was simply flipping through the channels and found a local station, WGTW 48. I started taping Hardcore TV after that.
Glad to see Steven Richards back from his recent, horrible injury. Thanks for interviewing him; looking forward to more.
Watching old WWE from 2000. Bradshaw destroys people like Crash Holly with chairshots..for that alone he deserves this
Bradshaw destroyed everybody to be fair. He pulled back for noone.
@@AJ-xv7oh ah I think he was a bit harder on the smaller people. Either way he shouldn't have been that hard with anyone
@@ReanimatorsMutilations wouldnt have done it to brock lesnar for example xD
@@claude122
Brock would've welcome that
I love the story of steve blackman whooping bradshaw's ass. hell even joey styles socked jbl in the face and bradshaw immediately retreated like a coward.
The King of Swing. Loved watching Stevie wrestle. Such an under appreciated talent.
Stevie "the king of swing" Esquire Richards
The only JBL highlight worth watching.
Dude got his receipt. I'm so proud of Stevie for doing this.
Stevie has said before that he didn’t mean it as a receipt that it was part of the plan but he didn’t want to hit jbl when he was standing but jbl insisted and that’s how it happened
he said in this video it wasnt a receipt and that it was unintentional.
Clearly you didn't watch the video
@@tristarea08 Sure I did. Bradshaw got his receipt. And I'm proud of Stevie for hitting him with the chair. Pretty simple.
@@TheKevinNewsomwhat a retard you are. You’re “proud” of him for accidentally botching a chair shot. You’re a flat-out idiot or you didn’t watch the video and don’t want to admit it. Either way - retard.
Hopefully Steve is getting better, I'm so tired of hearing of sick or wrestlers passing away.
That's because they don't get health care after they leave, they still have to pay for it and some have gone on a downward spiral they can't afford it.
Personally for what they do or did for the WWE they should pay for a certain amount of healthcare for them at least surly.
You will struggle to meet a more genuine guy than Stevie Richards
Stevie is AWESOME The bWo was a parody that went over BIG TIME loved IT
bwo was better than nwo, at least in my opinion.
I like hearing the full story from Stevie instead of Wrestling channels on youtube.
It is really cool JBL told him to run with the chair shot as a shoot. If you watch any video on this, people still think it was a shoot.
WIth how fast rumors travel kayfabe can still work.
To be fair to those channels, they probably read the WWE Magazine interview and thought it was real.
Bro your channel is so much better then alot of higher profile ones .
OH MY GOD IT'S STEVIE RICHARDS!
jbl understood his payback was warranted
I definitely have to say this chair shot humbled JBL as a person.
It almost got him coloring books at Christmas for the remainder of his life 😂
The more I see of this Stevie Richards guy the more I like him.
I love how it was an "ECW" event and the ECW guys were all sober and the WWE guys were just getting wasted watching haha, what a role reversal
Stevie Richards also used be UFC's Colby Covington's Strength & Conditioning Coach and he was the one who gave him tips how to cut promos and come up with a gimmick
Oh, My God, it's Stevie Richards!
Taker: "I can hit Kanyon as hard as I want with a chair though"
Yeah, but Kanyon was gay so nobody cared if Taker did.
@@jd9119 😂😂😂Damn
@@lanceparker4796 Where's the lie though?
That and the Mr.Kennedy chair shot
@@jd9119 these dudes are wrestlers for a reason, maybe kind of tough in a way but they aren't fighters, don't suck their dicks like they're godly beasts. 😂 A welterweight UFC fighter would destroy like 10 of them at once regardless of size. Ffs when Brock fought anyone with actual skill who wasn't old as dirt he got fuckin wrecked. The brawl for all proved that they can't fight.
I would have IMMEDIATELY suspected a setup when JBL suggested that Stevie say he did it on purpose.
Perhaps JBL was trying to make sure that WWE weren't going to be sued. Maybe he took the chair like that on purpose.
This is exactly what happened. He knew he screwed up, so stevie accidentally laying into him with the chair was the perfect out to say he got his back. JBL told him to tell the news it was a receipt so there wouldn't be a lawsuit. He was using stevie 100%. This is how psycho''s like JBL think.
I miss Stevie. I miss hearing “I’ll Show You, You’ll See!” Followed by the dope guitar riff afterwards.
When my buddies and I were watching ECW back in the day, we loved Stevie. Still do. We used to say how he could easily be another Shawn Michaels if pushed right. I wish that would've happened. Always loved watching him wrestle. What an awesome dude.
I love Stevie. He had massive potential to be a top guy in his prime. ECW Stevie was legit.
I was 10 when I discovered the bWo in ECW & eventually WWF. I looked up to Stevie Richards & Meanie because I was a kid that loved pro wrestling from Philly (port Richmond to be exact if Stevie saw this he know), and they got signed by the largest wrestling company of all time at its height wrestlemania 15-17 and appeared in some of its biggest shows . Looking forward to this whole podcast with Stevie!
One thing I’ll say about Bradshaw despite him being a bully at times he accepted receipts willingly. The guy isn’t your typical bully where he does something to you and goes crying foul cause you did it to them. To me he knows he’s an asshole or rough in the ring that when he gets his “receipt” he’s like, “ok yea I probably deserved that” lol
Wow for all these years I thought that was a receipt for Meanie. Also very smart on JBL's end to play that up as a shoot.
Stevie was my favorite wrestler as a kid.. We were super dirt poor growing up so we didn't have USA to watch WWE or TNT to watch Nitro. But in Indianapolis there was a TV network owned by a local magician This guy owned a couple radio stations a TV Station the epitome of local celebrity ( I swear I am not making this up as crazy as it sounds) called HoosierTV 53. On Sundays channel 53 would do a 4 or 5 hour block of wrestling.. It was awesome. We had our little local promotion up 1st Circle City Wrestling Who's top stars was mean Mike Samples and Flash Flanagan, After that USWA would be on And watch PG13 take on Bill Dundee and Jerry Lawler. Occasionally we would get OVW But at the end of the night every Sunday was Is Extreme Championship Wrestling. And that buffoon, that king of swing, The leader of the BWO was my favorite wrestler..
I grew up in Indy too
I’ll be damned my question haha
I was first....
⭐️there’s a big gold star for u
Stevie Richards is awesome! Cool behind the curtain moment here! And included another insight into the aura of The Undertaker.
love undertakers outlook on the work ethic of everyone and being true and genuine.
I heard about it first and i said "Nice guy Stevie Richards? No way man" then i saw the footage and all i could say was "must be a good reason for it"
Nah, Stevie Richards wrestled for awhile in the original ECW and has had some very hardcore matches so I wouldn't exactly call him a "nice guy." Respectful to those that deserve respect, maybe, but not "nice."
JBL deserved it. 💯
Yeah people deserve possible brain damage. Are you really that much of an asshole?
Ah, we found Blue Meanie's one fan. JBL deserved it eh? So by that smooth brain take Meanie deserved JBL busting his face for talking shit about JBL online. I have a creeping feeling that you know all about talking big online.
Just not stiff enough.
He sure did … I never like LBJ he is not that great of wrestler and obviously a person 😡😡😡😡😡😡
JBL rules.
A true heel with great feuds.
Watched it, lol, couldn't believe it.
Stevie Richards is always a class act and professional. Extremely respectable, always honest in every interview.
I love Stevie Richards ❤
I was actually hoping for SR's break down of the chair shot but this was still a really great clip.
so glad you guys got a show now
I almost skipped past this vid thinking I already knew the story. So glad I didn’t!
I miss Stevie Richards, he’s one of those guys/wrestlers you want to stick around, but with what Wrestling is now I don’t blame him
Bradshaw was always in my top 3 favorites
That chair shot was INCREDIBLE!!!!
Oliver is slick with getting the drama out. Lol
Stevie out here looking like Keanu Punk.
Thought this was Punk at first in the thumbnail. Stevie looking good. Always liked him as a wrestler, even as part of RTC. Very underrated in the WWE
Thats what you call giving a Receipt 😂
People forget that Steve was high mid card a in 2001, he wasn’t melt. Unfortunately after the right to censor he was buried by wwf but up until mid 2001 he was a pretty big deal
Stevie richards has the chilliest personality
Great choice in getting Stevie Richards here. Incredible and a great storyteller.
They worked taker
They worked the fans for almost 15 years on this
Well done
Yeah man, I never suspected this! I bought it hook line and sinker like a true mark lol
@@MyPalJimbo all of us did honestly.
I loved what Stevie said that shooting on JBL with a chair is NOT something he would do. As much as he wanted to give a receipt to JBL, he was a professional who didn't want to turn wrestling into a chaotic brawl. wrestling is about protecting the other guy in the ring and giving the fans a great show. Stevie understood that and I have a lot of respect for him for having that perspective
@@skippythealien9627 AEW roster could learn a thing or two.
One of my favorite moments in wrestling. A true moment of justice served to a tyrannical bully by a hard-working, humble, good-hearted man.
I love Undertaker, but he hit people with the hardest chair-shots ever.
HBK wrote in his book that he felt that chair-shot (Badd Blood 97) in his whole body.
A lot of guys completely laid it in until about 15 years ago. Heck, some guys _told_ people to lay it in completely - I think Shamrock talked about it in a shoot on this channel even, when talking about when the Rock completely destroyed a chair on Shamrock's head. I think the difference for someone with Underatker is his sheer size. Ignoring billed heights, even if he had lifts in his boots in the 90s, Undertaker is well over half a foot taller than Michaels, probably a good 75+ lbs on him, and was probably strong as a few oxen; him swinging at full strength and, say, Bret Hart swinging at full strength may feel the same to the one swinging, but not to the person taking the shot.
If you're going to do it, do it properly.
True..and UT needs to mind his own goddamn business anyway.......
Taker cracked people with those chairshots, but he used the safe parts of the chair and either evenly distributed it across their backs or hit them with the seat on the hardest part of their heads (the forehead).
Could u imagine a strong fucker like Taker hitting you with a mean ass chair shot? Oof marone.
Dancing Stevie Richards The King of Swing ❤
That must’ve been a scary from call from Taker
Thanks James...The Chair Shot satisfaction was my question.
Story is hilarious lmao. Stevie would make a great creative writer.
Stevie gets backstage and no one's there....except the soundtrack for The Godfather.
Stevie seems like a sound fella. Be good to hear more stories from him 👍🏻
Class act Stevie. Truly professional.
Sounds like Stevie is being a professional, and protecting the business first with his storytelling, just like Taker. Stevie, sounds like a really great person, which is why I believe he's willing to eat shit rather than bury other talent; even if he'd be telling the truth.
I love the story of little Joey putting his big ass to sleep. Love it
"A lawsuit push" is an absolute genius term lol
I always liked Stevie growing up, because like many HBK was my favorite as a kid in the 90's. They had similar mannerisms but Stevie was always very goofy. Honestly, if I could meet any wrestler from when I was watching back then, it probably would be him. He just seems like such a nice guy and someone fun to have a conversation with.
Stevie’s slowly evolving into CM Punk.
Right! Lol! The only difference is being shy about 50 years' worth of bags under the eyes. 😂
Bro he looks just like Aaron Rodgers with that hair/beard combo
Man this just emphasises, as if it was already needed, how badshit the wrestling business is. Great interview!
Where's the rest of this interview? RTC is my favorite stable, oddly enough. They were true heels.
Thank you for your service!
I always thought it was a receipt. Interesting to hear that it really wasn't.
To be honest, JBL is DAMN lucky the hardcore ECDUB fans didn't smother him... I don't think the locker room could have taken the whole crowd that night.
idk, i'm sure they'd have suffered many casualties trying to take him down lol.
@@jacob9538 who, the fans or the boys? You really think there wasn't bricks and worse brought to this event?

The ECW crowd in the 90's were fucking nuts, in good and bad ways. People for sure had some weapons on them. Hell, they'd probably start hurling chairs if all else fails.
@@Starcraftgamer97 no shit!!! One of the best after match aftermaths ever!!
Well you had me fooled for awhile, I thought it was revenge for years.
No clue why Stevie richards never became a bigger star
I know this is unrelated to the video topic. Stevie Richards, glad to hear you're doing great! I prayed for you while you were recovering at the hospital! 😊
Stevie is a good talker, You should have him on more.
Wow...all these years I've thought it was a receipt. This blows my mind lol
I hope I look as good as Stevie does when I'm 50. Damn he's in fantastic shape
Thank you for that chair shot to the bully, Stevie!
Well done, dude
WWE lucky the New Alahambra was booked by Hardcore Homecoming, cuz Bradshaw pulling that on an ECW legend in Meanie, in the ECW Arena would’ve caused a riot, with the ECW fans defending the ECW legends.
How come Taker didn’t say the same thing about a thin roster to JBL when he shoot on Meanie?
Likely because Meanie wasnt a member of the smackdown roster.
Or when he tried to kill Kanyon
Undertaker was a hypocrite POS. He claims to stand for integrity but he ruined so many people’s careers especially during the WCW/ECW invasion. He basically murdered Kanyon on live television with brutal chair shots and he got Kronik fired and completely buried DDP and many others. You can’t be a locker room leader if you aren’t a good person. Where was Taker’s “we’re short a man” on the roster when his good buddy JBL took real shots at Meanie? Now we see why Taker rolled his eyes, it’s because his head was so full of sh*t!
Exactly. A lot of red flags with Undertaker as "locker room" leader
A lot of red flags with the guy in general
Always loved the content. Joined ya at 10k and I'll be here for the 1m.x
Good job mr Richardson really good job ❤❤❤❤❤❤
when I was a kid I only got a saturday wrestling show which was one of the WWF's C shows. Stevie Richards was my favourite guy because he was on that show frequently and actually beat jobbers, though when a main star was on it he would get squashed. Stevie kick for the win.
I remember being like 11 and seeing him on Heat all the time and thinking "Why is this guy not on the big shows." He had mega talent.
Love Stevie. Coolest and most sweetest guy in the business.
It cracks me up whenever someone cries tht JBL was a bully. Go change your damn rag.
