ecw original The Blue Meanie tells the full story on jbl beating him up at ecw one night stand and the full aftermath that happened #bluemeanie #jbl #ecw
Just a couple years ago I never would have guessed that my future favorite Podcast would be hosted by the French Phenom himself, Rene Dupree! Rene & James have tapped into a seriously underrated/underexplored market... the Ruthless Aggression midcard. It also speaks volumes to how quality of person that Rene is that he still has all these connections. Keep 'em coming!!
Ever since JBL got humbled by Joey Styles, he has turned into a completely different person, in a good way. Meanie & JBL are friends now and Meanie has even been on JBL's podcast, which is pretty awesome when two guys with past beef can get over it like adults.
Surely JBL should’ve been fired on the spot? Can’t be many other jobs where you could just walk up to a colleague, brutally assault them, and then carry on working there as if nothing had happened.
Pretty sure, the only reason he didn't get fired (because Vince does and will fire people for fighting) is because Vince didn't a flying frick about anything that happened at the ECW show. JBL could have shot a fan in the center of the ring with a .45 and Vince would have waived his hand and said "yeah, yeah. ECW show... anyway, about this Monday night"
I smile any time Tracy Smothers gets a shout-out. Blue Meanie and him had incredible chemistry together in matches, and getting to meet them both at 1PW as a kid is something I'll never forget. RIP Tracy, you were awesome.
Man impossible to not have mad respect for Meanie after listening to this. Thankful for what he had and incredibly positive. Gives JBL props for the good things he ended up doing which a lot of people wouldn’t do. A lot of people wouldn’t think JBL doing those things was a kind act but rather would just say he owes it to them. Meanies thoughts here show he’s high clsss.
Considering the guy wrestled a bear and wasn't told it was a work and was fucking up the bear the trainer had to ask the promoter to tell him to back him off he probably would have taken then. Reminds me of John candy in the movie armed and dangerous ua-cam.com/video/mPPS4JqflSs/v-deo.html
I was in my last year in college during the ECW ONS 2005 PPV event. The less said about the 2006 version, the better. The things I fondly remembered watching it were the Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit match where Eddie was in constant pain (his in-ring health problems there were so apparent prior to his death), the last match with the Dudleys with some of the wrestlers interrupting the match and the beatdown between the ECW and the WWE wrestlers. I was puzzled on why Blue Meanie's face was bloodied, he at least got some form of revenge when he pinned JBL with the help of Stevie and Batista.
I remember of that PPV of Dawn Marie dressed a bit conservative than usual which later found out she was fired from WWE when it was discovered that she was a few months pregnant. So, the dressing up conservative was just hiding the baby bump.
Good to hear that Meanie is in a good place. I heard a JBL interview where he's owned up to the past, while not completely apologuzing for his actions. He did say there's no place for that in today's lockeroom. Hardcore Holly on the other hand still says the guys today need the lessons of hazing. Maybe he's done an interview where he owns up, but I haven't heard it myself.
What I took from this is that JBL redeemed himself by making amends with meanie. That’s so cool man. Meanie saying they are on good terms and that John did him some favours. I like it when a story comes round full circle. It’s seems Jbl really got humbled by that receipt and it finally knocked some sense into him.
Meanie shouldn't have taken the bait. The better move was file a lawsuit against WWE; getting paid without doing anything. But then, we wouldn't gotten that hard-sounding chairshot of a lifetime.
Meanie seems like a good guy but he's 100% a mark. Not that theres anything necessarily wrong with that, everyone's motivations are different and he just wanted to be 'one of the boys' like he said.
Vince McMahon wasn't putting people on his TV to cover up or make good for some incident. He would've just paid them off or given them some kind of role backstage. People that get on screen for extended periods of time like Meanie earned it. They said the same thing about Santino with the Cornette thing. They aren't putting a dude on TV for a decade because of a slap. So stupid.
That’s the point. People have priorities and for someone to think they’ve missed a video 3 hours after being uploaded is like living under a rock with an iPhone. I mean I get what he’s saying but I don’t know if it was used right though.
Imagine if we loved each other more, better? Our children especially. JBL was not well loved and it is evident with his repulsive actions. Now, it would take tremendous strength and bravery to become non repulsive. I doubt jbl has the strength or bravery.
Don't do a podcast in your car respect the viewers , your guest has the best set up !! Sort it out shit sound shit video quality !! Take it seriously !!
Yikes! That was pretty rude and reeks of privilege. You know nothing about these people's private lives or why they may need to film in a car. He is harming no one. Your behaviour, however, does. And it hurts you most of all. P.S. demanding respect while giving none is the height of arrogance. It makes people think less of you, which will hurt you, so maybe work on it?

This host is terrible. Can barely understand what he’s saying. His microphone is terrible. He doesn’t always need to be on camera sitting there just nodding his head. He ruins the podcast.
I’ve always sided with JBL and this interview confirmed that belief. “I see no women here and you people are chanting a male organ!! Now tell me who the Fruit Booty is” That fruit booty is Blue Meanie!!!

It's perfect market cause wrestlers were old school and modern era mixture so they can talk about anything.
Same here
That's the era I was most tuned-into wrestling, so it's right up my alley.
We NEED more Tracey Smothers stories. Man was a legend.
Meanie just a genuinely good bloke. Can't understand why anyone would want a straightner with him. That's jbl for ya I suppose
Steve Blackmon set ole JBL straight. lol.
Thank You James for covering this. I always wanted meanies response.
Really like Blue Meanie. Somebody you can listen to. I feel like even JBL learnt from what he did to him.
Ever since JBL got humbled by Joey Styles, he has turned into a completely different person, in a good way.

Shit I was 15 at this time. I ordered this ppv and FUCKING LOVED IT. Meanie you are legit 🤘🏻. Great interview team
JBL was on fire this ppv
Your amazing ❤
That Right Said Fred reference by Blue Meanie was underrated lol
I heard it but didn’t really pay attention to it, what minute ish?
Slipped right through the cracks lol I heard it too
Surely JBL should’ve been fired on the spot?
Can’t be many other jobs where you could just walk up to a colleague, brutally assault them, and then carry on working there as if nothing had happened.
Exactly. I agree. If he hasn't been one of Vince's OG attitude era boys and a personal yes man, he would have been fired. Politics...
JBL was one of the top heels at the time and was in the main event title picture, so he had some pull

Rene always sounds absolutely gutted, when a guest says that someone has changed for the better, or apologised for something

Raven's presence was felt at One Night Stand because after The Meanie & JBL fought, "they gotta keep 'em seperated."
I'll show myself out...
On yer way, don't look back.
"I'll take the dogs" That was hilarious. I bet he thought he could do it too.

The 2006 version was excellent.
“I see no women here and you people are chanting a male organ!!! Now tell me who is the fruit booty”
Good thing about 2006 version was that RVD FINALLY became WWE champion, which was years overdue.
I remember of that PPV of Dawn Marie dressed a bit conservative than usual which later found out she was fired from WWE when it was discovered that she was a few months pregnant. So, the dressing up conservative was just hiding the baby bump.
Mike Awesome and Ole' Ironhead Tanaka had some awesome barnburners rowards the end of ECW...RIP Mike Awesome.

Meanie is not a meanie at all
Meanies impersonation of Dreamer hilarious lol

I'm sure Rene can relate with the bullying of Blue Meanie .
Meanie mentions having heat with Johnny Ace during his WWF run from 1998-2000... I might be wrong, but wasn't Ace in WCW during this time?
Yep. Laryngitis doesn't come in to WWE until the WCW buyout in 2001.
It kind of hurts his pride to say that he got into WWE because of JBL but it's pretty much true
Well he was in WWE before this, but yeah it was most likely to avoid a lawsuit.
Meanie shouldn't have taken the bait. The better move was file a lawsuit against WWE; getting paid without doing anything. But then, we wouldn't gotten that hard-sounding chairshot of a lifetime.
What if JBL was a guest on this show, and Rene went on JBLs podcast? 🤔
How about no. Just a Big Loser isn't needed on here. He's a bully loser
Makes me happy knowing meanie is in a good place now and him and JBL are good friends now and JBL done some really nice things for him it's awesome
Meanie seems like a good dude
Looking forward to year two of the podcast
Rene, you have one of my favorite podcasts on the internet. Please, get a proper setup and mic!!!
Awesome interview
For someone who fancies himself the apex old school tough guy, Bradshaw sure got butthurt over internet rumors
Respect to Tracy Smothers - RIP THUG
Sad, Blue Meanie seems like a nice cool guy.
Great to see Blue Meanie and JBL cool.
"What was going through your head?"
JBL`s fist

Ya should interview Al snow
No you're the better man thank God bless you
Lol, “mischief night”! It’s called Devil’s night (October 30)
Would have loved to see JBL get his ass kicked.

Should interview pacman Jones was in TNA tag champs with r-truth
This, that, and the other thing...
20:20 makes it feel like JBL is very scared of people seeing his behavior. Why hide? It was beyond privacy, JBL sought Secrecy.
ITS ALL FOR THE FAM🙏
Great story ECW vs the fanz
I’m glad all that “tough guy” toxic masculinity shit has been rooted out
