This tragedy hit home even more for Zillah and me as we lived on the 24th floor of a block of flats designed by Goldfinger in East London called Balfron Tower. pictured on the front cover.
We both along with the rest of the world watched as the horrific inferno engulfed Grenfell Tower in a matter of minutes. We were horrified to hear the authorities and the Fire Brigade told residents to ‘Stay inside’ as we all watched in horror as the flames went from one side of the building, up and over the 24th floor and down the other side in a matter minutes. People making lifelines out of blankets and climbing down out of their windows instead of burning alive on TV for the whole world to watch. Onlookers questioning the fire brigade as to why they were not rescuing victims from imminent death. It looked like a controlled burn to demolish the block later on. Questions needed to be asked like ‘Who authorized the cheaper tiles to be fitted that were not fire resistant just to save money’ Who the fuck was it? No one has taken responsibility for allowing defective tiles to adorn a building to stop the area looking down trodden while the regeneration of the area was taking place
The fucking Government have got away with MURDER again without conclusive proof of who’s to blame. WTF?
