If I remember correctly a great white took a chunk out of a Hobie Kayak a guy was fishing out of around the Santa Cruz area about 10 years ago. A slight nudge and that shark could have had lunch.

Curiosity stems from the fin system propulsion of this model of Hobie kayak. Obviously the shark studied this as it just didn't seem right. A seal would have evaded.
