Thank you so much. I couldn't find what was keeping the housing from coming off so as to access the flywheel. It was the little hidden screw under the air filter. Thank you again for this video. God loves you.😊😊
Fantastic video. Straight and to the point, has given me all the knowledge for what I need to do for my John Deere L120. I very much appreciate it, gonna help me out a TON getting my machine back up and running.
Good to know you can up the Phase of the stator. I did this on my Harley. Changed it to three phase. Going from 35 amp charging to 50 amps. Love to see how many amps the two wire stator puts out.
The Briggs remover took it off no problem. I was using a steering wheel puller like shown in other videos my steering wheel puller was from Harbor Freight maybe why it stripped.
great video! Trying to figure out a parts mower I bought, the previous owner had the flywheel off for some reason and it didn't sit all the way back down on the crankshaft.
Should I be able to see if the the key is sheered without having to pulling the flywheel? If not I have a a three claw crank puller. Would that be applicable for removing a flywheel on an 18hp twin opposed? Thanks
Plastic fan broke? You need to find a good used part. Do a search on Facebook marketplace, Craig’s list or Kijiji for a guy like me that has used parts.
Just throw some nuts and bolts in engine cylinder. It'll stop spinning. Lol. Don't really do this. I've used ratchet straps/belts, rope, etc around the flywheel and find a place to hook it to to keep from coming off.

Great video. It was a huge help for me. I did not know the hammer trick. Thank you
Glad it helped
saw this after I tried to remove my flywheel. Ended you stripping my puller. ordered the briggs one will try that and a big hammer.

The Briggs puller is the best....
Use a torch and heat the flywheel/crank. If you have pressure on the puller will pop off.

The dang key is always the hardest to put in on the assembly line
I agree to that..👍

Yes, the keyways won’t lined up. You can try your three jaw puller but a pry bar and a hammer will do the trick.
@@WeekendHobbyMechanic Thanks so much for responding so quickly and thank for sharing great content.
Where did you buy the extractor tool?
It’s just a steering wheel pulled. Amazon.
Jd la145 fan blades broke and chewed up flywheel. Is it worth fixing???

I couldn’t get the nut off the flywheel even using a breaker bar. The other issue is trying to unscrew it but the flywheel wants to spin.
Somehow you have to use a large screwdriver and jam it in the flywheel gear. Or borrow a impact gun.

You're welcome!
