- The Inside Out 2 Official Trailer gave us our first look at Riley's new emotions: Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui. This is our first reaction to them as we try to work out if any of them are the new villains!

Inside Out 2 is an upcoming American animated coming-of-age film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The sequel to Inside Out (2015), it is being directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve. The film stars the voices of Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black reprising their roles, with Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser joining the cast.
Inside Out 2 was first announced in September 2022 during the D23 Expo announcement, with Mann, Nielsen, and LeFauve attached as director, producer, and writer, respectively, while Poehler was revealed to reprise her role in the film. Hale, Lapira, and Hawke joined the cast in November 2023. The film features Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter's "five to 27 emotions" idea from the first film that Mann pitched during its production to utilize "truthful" worldbuilding.
Inside Out 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on June 14, 2024.

Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Ennui is closer to apathy, or "acedia", a forgotten sin, and one of the original 8 deadly sins that's been folded into "sloth". I'm surprised they're touching on it!
I think that at the end anxiety will know that all the emotions are needed to form Riley❤
there goes joy again making it all about her and causing anxiety to be a villan.

Joy doesn't tolerate change well, and Anxiety even seemed to regret having to box them in, but they are natural enemies.
Joy clearly saw nothing wrong with making Riley look goofy, that would give any teen Anxiety.
They just need to figure out a way where Joy's upbeat nature meshes with Anxiety's need for structure.
Maybe once Riley gets on whatever team she's aiming for (I assume the skills camp is a first step to something bigger) and gets on a practice schedule, she'll have more structure, and once she fits in, she'll be happy.

It looks like Anxiety will kind of have to learn the lesson Joy dod in the first film about how all the emotions are important and need to work together?
Also I dont get why theu didnt call Ennui Boredom or something, plus some people may potentially get confused between Ennui and Envy??
Ennui is a much more specific type of feeling then just boredom that's just to ease people into the concept.

Embarrassment, mostly because I'm curious as to how they're going to deal with his character. With him being sulky, seclusive, and silent, I feel like he might have the most significant demonstration of "show don't tell" from any character in this movie.
Also Ennui is a girl because she’s played by Adele Exarchopoulos and well she’s a girl

Ennui isn't exactly boredom, though it includes that. It's a feeling of can't-be-bothered, and even too-cool-to-be-bothered, life-is-just-too-much-for-me. Probably the movie itself will spell it out better, because there's a reason they had to resort to a French term. The emo visual representation fits.

We loved the movie! (Really spoke to us as grown up theatre kids) But I was so disappointed with how little she was in it, more like a cameo if anything...

Ennuie (translating to boredom) is actually pronounced
[EN] (like in "entrepreneur")
-[U] (probably the mait problematic sound to make for English speakers cause there no equivalent in the English language. it's not a "oo" it's a "u" which is way lighter and you have to form a clear "o" shape with your mouth
- [I] (just they same way you pronounce the letter "E"]
So that's "En-nu-ie" !
And not "An-oo-wee" like they pronounce it in the movie 😂

Alsoooo fun fact : the French voice actor for Ennui (Adele Exarchopoulos, which I hepled spell in another comment😛) also voiced Ember (named "Flam" in french) for the French dubbing of Elemental

I don’t think the new emotions are the villains because the end of the trailer anxiety is haveing problems with control panel so I think they will go find the others and try to find them but then they will learn that haveing new emotions are good.
I agree. I think the new emotions’ approach to control Riley come off as more so misguided as opposed to villainous
@@gussygamingprofessional6433it's kind of like in the first movie where Joy things that Sadness only causes problems for Riley, but eventually she realizes that Sadness plays an important role in Riley's life.

Honestly..... I don't think anyone will notice the replacements for fear and disgust 😅
And I love Ayo and Maya so excited to see what they will do with the characters. And for the rest, I'm excited to see what they will do. I thought Jasper was a highlight of Cruella and love that we have some diverse accents with Ennui!

@@EdizAndBen oh I do 100% agree that the castings are a good choice ESPECIALLY for the new emotions, I fully agree on all those points! Ayo is killing it, Maya I love in literally everything and as your said Jasper was a stand out character in Cruella! My only thing is Tony Hale being fear upsets me as I can only hear Forky and Fear had such a great voice before :( yes it’s not a huge difference but as someone in industry who overanalyses everything I can’t not hear Forky :/

I’M SO EXCITED, When I first saw the Trailer Thumbnail, I was like, is this real? I saw this film when I was 6 When the first film came out, and Now I’m 15. So it’s nice to experience this as an actual teenager. Being a teenager sucks, so… yeah. The Animation looks so beautiful. 0:41 Same. Braces suck. 2:03 Envy and Disgust would be friends 2:08 Idk if any Knew bf this movie what Ennui was. 2:09 The definition of being a teen. 2:14 Sadness and Embarrassment would also be friends. 3:16 Me.

0:53 I feel like TV shows & made for TV movies used to be the place for those type of stories (i.e. The Thirteenth Year) so I hope this is received well by that age demographic at the very least. Tweens/preteens (which I don’t think they’re called that anymore but whatever 😂) need movies they can relate to!

Okay there is something else because how come the regular emotions there are five and there is only four new emotions does that mean will probably get a fifth emotion because there is a laugh at the end of the trailer that’s unknown.

5:07 Yeah of course anxiety takes over us as teens and it's because as teens we just want to fit in with the right crowd/right group of people and because we're afraid of things coming out wrong or being uncool and weird, we have a lot of anxiety

@@EdizAndBen Kate Hudson character starts her own clothing line using a sweatshops which is why she has so many problems with Public relations and her assistant comes across her emails, giving the ok to use sweatshops and she asks “please don’t tell me you thought sweatshops shops is where they make sweats”
Now that there are 9 emotions in total. The color order would be like this: Pink (Embbarrassment,) Red (Anger,) Orange (Anxiety,) Yellow (Joy,) Green (Disgust,) Aqua (Envy,) Blue (Saddness,) Indigo (Ennui,) And finally Purple (Fear.)
When i watched the first movie in theatres i don’t think i was a teenager when this came out I was probably like 10 or 11 or possible when this came out originally, so I wasn’t a teenager yet when the first movie came out, I remember when I watched the movie I was like maybe 14 or 15 at the time so I already surpassed being 13 I was still a teenager by the time the movie came out then and now the sequel to Inside Out I’ve already gone pass through all my teenager years, like thoses are behind me and now I am 22. So I don’t think all the demographic was as young as it use to be and I don’t think people are still teenagers then they’ve kind of grown up from this movie and the maturity of us are a older now, when the first movie was release, so i don’t think they’re going to be a lot of teenagers.
So I don’t think it’s’ going to follow the generation or my generation that is now, but probably the newer generations though a 100%.

Still super conflicted on Inside Out 2... honestly new emotions doesn't feel like the way it should be going considering the first film showed us adults and even animals headquarters and it was all the same five emotions. Also I still have no idea what it is but I just do not feel that the new character designs fit!
What are you talking about?! Anger and Fear are the only ones of the original emotions that don't look too human, and I feel like that's what gives the filmmakers a way to distinguish each design from each other.

Sadly this looks to be the exact same movie as the first one which it wasn't that good either.
I think we got the better inside out with turning red focusing on mey mey instead of almost unrelated plot with the "emotions"

the new emotions really aren't as likable as the old ones other than anxiety and that little blue one. embarassment and boredom both don't really have personalities other than their emotions.
