      @@devilmecare I'm purely going off my own experiences and limited knowledge . Id have expected strict basic boundaries and control with such a huge breed . A man near me in Edinburgh has a Caucasian shepherd . I've never heard it bark yet alone even pull on the lead . He's a tiny guy aswell but has full control over his pooch. Britain has chosen to ban the XL bully , the powers above can't seem to understand licencing owners and breeders would be better . I find it utterly bizarre as a small dog can be just as demonic ! I'd love to see a follow up with dog daddy's work . He's helping so many people who have created their own issues but do they stick to it or give up ?!?

      I agree it is in the DNA, but naturally seeing anything as a threat and instantly thinking to attack it is due to not being trained.
      Especially because the owner is there with the dog and showing that they don’t see the trainer as a threat.

      @DonnaBaker125 2 місяці тому +2

      @correnakelly I disagree. Not every trainer has the same aptitude for working with different kinds of dogs or different kinds of problems and that's fine. Your comment is like saying every doctor should have to do open heart surgery before they call themselves a doctor. Some are surgeons, some are pediatricians, some are dermatologists, etc. ... all are needed. Same with dog trainers. Not every trainer wants to work with the most difficult cases ... so what? There's just as much need for talented trainers to work with other kinds of training needs. And actually, I have more respect for a trainer who understands his or her personal limitations and doesn't try to take on something that they are not fully qualified to do. In this case, I think Dog Daddy is way over his head with this dog, yet he keeps pushing on and frankly, I think he's doing more harm than good in the long run.

    I think perhaps people should congratulate this family for contacting a trainer. Many people wont, so how about a good job to that. Also, many people do not research the breed beforehand, i never thougt to do so until the dog i have now. I saved her from starving to death. She was tied to a tree in south Carolina, she was aggressive to other dogs and many people. This is when i started researching. She is cane corso and pitbull. We are still a work in progress, but i tell you what. We both have come a long way. I am blessed to have her. Marvel saved my life i think more than i did hers. Give this family a break and understand you dont know their story. And they are trying. Thats a large aggressive dog. But therw are no bad dogs, this family realized that and sought-after help.

      So is mine and traumatized heavely ..
      Never needed this bs and yes she (and he) were just like this when we started.
      You want a quick fix, shut down the dog, drain all energy and poof ... doesnt solve shit.
      And thats the only thing he does.
      Muzzle dog , wear out , flooding, going in total live or die experience until there is nothing left.
      And then say, oh my gosh guys I fixed this dog!
      No dude, you shut him down. And didnt change the fear or anything underlaying that causes the behaviour in the first place.
      For real, you think THIS will result in a dog that trusts humans ..?
      Quite the opposite. Wait when they get over this stage and you'll have a bigger problem.

    • @zapbutton8553
      @zapbutton8553 Місяць тому

      I believe dogs have their own character, this one is young, handling very much on instinct, if he attacks any stranger.
      He has to go a way to be able to approach him, he can not sit there for weeks and weeks and have him adjust slowly, he also uses the time to teach the owner a lot of insight in the dogs behaviour, showing him skills that he can use in the future for extended learning.
      I am sure there are other ways, but i think he is doing well, lets wait and see, this one has no fear or aggression for no reason, it's just unbridled (and unneutered) guard dog behaviour which is bred into him. Not like with your dog.
      Also, rather a dog that can be handled, than a hopeless case, how many dogs sit on a chain lonely until death as no one ever took the effort.
      Criticising is easy.

    • @DisforDogs1
      @DisforDogs1 Місяць тому

      @@zapbutton8553
      This one has no fear?
      I can point out many signs that he does.
      There is no excuse to go about it this way.
      Also way more helpful in this case would be instructing the owner how to spot and correct (beforehand showing by example also with a similair well behaved dog) giving tips along the way. "Now do this, now put a little pressure when, release as soon as" and working to narrow the space between the dog and "dog daddy"
      Thats building confidence in themselves and their owners and overcoming fear or any reactivity reaction.
      Could have just done that, no need to spend weeks doing this, that I can promise. 1 session without all his bs and get better and longer lasting results.
      He just wants to take that lead and do his "trick" . Owners learn almost nothing, dog learns bad experience and when they attempt to do the same will hit the wall. This is wearing out and flooding.
      Hey, I can do that for you as a temporary quick fix, anyone can for real.
      Mine isnt neutered either (nor old).
      And a pure bred big guard dog used to fend of wolves, bears etc.
      People seem to think that neutering a dog will fix or help with reactivity, its quite the opposite. Also medically its not adviced anymore to nuture as a standard bc of health issues as well as behavioural issues.
      Nutering a fearful dog is probably the "dumbest" thing someone can do.
      Have so many studies on this as well as in field experience. (If you like I can send some)
      But doing this type of training is bad for any dog.
      And cant you agree that this will not solve his fear or agression or reservedness towards strange people?
      It will only get worse soon.
      After this experience, someone else walks up to you or visits ur home? What did he learn ..? Stranger = fear, confusion and the outcome is show as much agression to keep them away after that experience.
      And yes, sorry, I know my spelling is shitty, English is not my first language, but I think you understand what I'm saying.

    Dog Daddy is such a very patient and calm person! That’s a very massive and aggressive dog, born to protect and attack anything that’s a threat to them and their owners! And he managed to keep the dog straight in just a several minutes! It is a huge progress for both the dog and the owner, since they’re both very connected to each other, the important part is patience, trust and respect.

    Now that is impressive, that dog is something else entirely! Only a real trainer can handle something like that. The sheer weight, force and pressure going through that leash must be unreal plus he is still giving corrections, handling the dog, avoiding the lunging and creating a barrier all at the same time.
    Edit: I watched till the end and I couldn't see the setback, I only saw the improvement especially when he was walking side by side with DD even with the barrier, the huge improvement that I noted was the owner walking Squatch on heel and him not being visibly reactive to DD.

    ❤❤🎉🎉😮gosh DD! He out weighs you by 70, 80 lbs! You must be exhausted. And have sore every thing. The FIRST TIME is always the WORST time. You had to keep at it until HE gave in. He'll remember this next time. Wow. Hard job. Very hard job. But. Progress in the end. He was happy to lay down and be quiet. With horses we have a saying, " not enough wet blankets." It means the horse hasn't been worked to cause sweat. He's got too much energy. When he's taken for a jog in deep sand, lets say, He'll work out stress and energy and won't want to fight and resist. He'll be so glad to hear "whoa!" And be much more cooperative. Looks like he blew off a lot of steam and this will help him listen and you won the competition. He didn't. That's what is so necessary here. Your hands must be raw. You need beer, shower, rest, food and probably a good chiropractor..❤

    So many comment calling this dog evil and all that training went to waste.🙄 NOT TRUE.
    i have a 3 yr old in-tact male tibetian mastiff in my family. We own a 50 acre property near wild forest where he stays and guard with one other tibetian.
    Saying they are difficult is a MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT. Intelligent, Brave, Strong, and Stouborn as a boulder, the tibetian is one of the most extreme breeds out there . They do not listen ANYONE, even their closest caregiver/owner. This is an ancient breed forged by the toughest forces of nature and time. They were used in history as guardians of land, temples, and their families against thieves, mountain lions and wolves in the middle of the harshest environments of Tibet. 🐶
    They are INDEPENDENT THINKERS. If they happen to listen to you, it just means they trust you enough to agree with your decisions.Training my male was no walk in the park(literally).Ive tried everything from dog training classes, daily trips to dog parks, e-collars, prong collars, and a whole lot of muzzles LOL. It took lots of time and patience and to this day it pays off in every way possible. Your greatest form of communication with the dog is the lead. I know I know cliche, but its the truth. Pure body language.
    Training the tibetian involves serious and clear communication of rules to the K9. Rules like set dinner times, training behavior & conditioning sessions. Socialization with family and friends, and of course a job/duty. Controll the food, and you will control the animal. My advice to the owner is to raise his voice for corrections and beaware of the K9 body language alongside his. Its not the prettiest method but in my experience the breed responds well to loud and clear commands. I would also stay away from the prong collar and use a metal slip collar with a rounded finish, this helps with training and the dogs coat. If you want the dog to be even remotely friendly to strangers, you're going to have to bypass hundreds of years of evolution and 150lbs of bravery and fluff. We got our first male when he was a bit older, so yes it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks!!!🙌
    When correcting a tibetian, the severity of the behavior = the severity of the correction. Always jerk the dog toward you. Grab its neck area if you can. this does not hurt the dog, especial the tibetian mastiff who has 3, almost 4, thick layers of skin protecting them. The outer skin layer is loose and is actually how the mother carries/corrects its puppies in the litter. Another way to correct but only for really serious behavior in the house(i.e lunging, not letting any guests in, resource guarding), you can use a small spray bottle.THIS SHOULD BE USED SPAREINGLY AND ONLY FOR SERIOUS BEHAVIOR. Mix up a few drops of citronella oil and distilled water. Only water works as well, but essentially this just works as a method to snap the k9 out his aggressive state of mind. The citronella smell is an added bonus that tells the dog chill out since it overpowering to them, it does not harm them nor "scar" or stink them up. These correction can be difficult to time correctly, and timing is a huge factor in a correction. The best method is the slip collar and a leash, along side some clear training & reinforcement of "leave it", and "stay".
    Massive massive props to The dog daddy for even accepting these training sessions. I remember when we first got our dog and we were looking for trainers, so many trainers said no. Ive been eagerly following along with this series and He is handling it like a pro. He is doing everything right to teach the owners and allow the dog to decompress so it can be socialized. My advise to dog daddy is to allow the k9 to assert his personality and continue to teach the owners on how they can teach Squatch how to behave properly. It will be impossible to have it ever listen properly to another person other than the primary carrer, it is simply not in their DNA. If and when you are handling Squatch, stand your ground. More than often they are more bark than bite. If possible try other locations where squatch doesn't feel on-duty/ his property/defensive. I'm eager to see how the helper dogs/pack will help!!!! My heart goes out the family, Squatch, and Dog Daddy!! This is no easy task and its it a true honor and test of nature to be blessed by the presence of the Tibitian Mastiff. Stay Strong guys and keep up these great sessions and videos!!! ❤♥🐶🐶🐶❤❤.

      So this breed are born stubborn and hard work ? That's so interesting to hear . I've been looking at a few breeds (not a Tibetan ) I've owned dogs for 20 years , own an english springer and a bully. It's only now I'm starting to research ALOT more . I've always believed you can train a puppy and with the right love etc the end result is a 4 legged best friend . To hear that this dog is just born stubborn , has blown my little mind 🤣

    • @Cool-fx3yg
      @Cool-fx3yg 2 місяці тому

      @@STSauto haha. they are definitely stubborn if you compare them to the traditional k9. Once you understand the their minds, you come to understand they are just doing their job. It goes hand in hand with the individual k9's personality, there are friendly tibetians out there! Others not so easy to get along with LOL. Certain dogs just need a bit more patience and guidance.

      @@Cool-fx3yg when you put it like that , I own a springer spaniel , the amount of work he wants to do is scary . Obviously opposite ends if the scale , but if they don't get to work , they go nuts !!! I back myself training and owning most dogs , had a rottweiler and a pit , never had a single issue . My dogs are for company , walking and cuddling on the couch when the kids are at their mum's . This and the Caucasian shepherd, terrify me . The thought of a poor kid being caught in the cross hairs of one of these breeds instantly puts me off . But we are all different , we live in different areas of the country and world , social do understand why someone in the mountains would prefer this over a terrier - I think a bear would run a mile if facing one of these bad boys ! On a less serious note, grooming - imagine the mess that bugger makes in your house , he would need his own couch , cos I ain't attempting to move him from my spot ! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✌️
