I have all of that ulanzi gear , and have it the same way you set up. Now I'm getting this new tripod with the code you have. Also, can you please tell them to put some sort of measuring units on the tripod legs so that we can easily get all of the legs to the same length without trial and error. That'll save a lot of time without almost any additional manufacturing cost. These quick releases and tripods from ulanzi are making the 1 man band super possible
It would be so funny if you and Kasey from Camera Conspiracies could do a skit where you encroach in each other’s vlogging spots. Like you are both trying to film in the brewery district at the same time and interrupt each other’s intro.
How do you think this fluid head compares to the separate fluid head on the f38? You should try a video comparison to see which one is more smooth. When you tilted this one it looked like it was catching. Love your videos by the way! I'd love to see this company create more affordable, high quality, and compact film tripods. Most high quality fluid heads are large and not built for mobile shoots.
I have both, and they are pretty close in comparison in my opinion. However, I think the new head is superior as it comes with the balance base built in. I've also got a quick-release on the Ulanzi mini fluid head when using the travel pod, but have found that the head comes loose from the f38 quick release plate. Could just be a tightening issue, but it's prone to happened when panning and perhaps not loosening the pan-tension screw. Also, find leveling the new balance base a bit easier to adjust than on the travel pod.
I wonder how do you like these twist legs so far compared to the previous model of clamps? I worry that on uneven terrain where you want to adjust the legs it might be finicky...?
Any chance you might review the Benro Cyanbird? Like the VideoGo it has a ball/fluid hybrid head which allows for easy portrait shooting, kinda torn between the two.
That EH12 fluid head (the one that comes with the video tripod) can be unscrewed and attached to the Zero F38 spare column? If that's the case, it would be possible to buy that fluid head separately and use it to an existing Zero F38.
Is the video centric head you get in addition for the f38 ulanzi x Conan the same as the head for the new video tripod as I’ve ordered the ulanzi Conan but am worried I should send it back and get this new video tripod as I’m a videographer. I’m not bothered about the money. Just wondering whether I’d be better off buying the video version of the tripod
It’s not quite the same - no. It does not have a quick release plate. And on its own it doesn’t have a roll balance. What I did with it was attach the bottom of the fluid head to a quick release plate and then attached another f38 baseplate to the top of the fluid head. That way I can just use the fluid head on top of the zero f38 tripod without removing the centre column. Then I can use the roll of the Zero F38 head and it’s all quick on and off. So it’s up to you. they’re both great.
Just got mine because of you it’s awesome! Only gripe is I cant put my peak design camera strap anchor thingy in the corner of the plate and has it still connect in.

ulanzi says the full price of of the Zero f38 is $399, but the reality is that they usually sell it for $369 and sometimes as low as $299 with sales and discounts. The $259 of the new one is still cheaper though. my guess is that they struck a better deal with fotopro (instead of Coman, who makes the other) and there’s less engineering. the ball head of the Zero f38 and centre column are unique and look hard to manufacture. the Video one just has a standard fluid brand and regular centre column. for the f38 with ball head... couple issues. first, the lever to release the pivot is extremely tight, takes a ton of force. and then it doesn't move around smoothly at all... did you have to clean yours or add lubricant to it or something?

I'm using it right now. I use it everyday - in fact, I have two. Both are working like champs.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks for the reply. I'm getting one today.
Q: What are the merits of adding a ball mount to a fluid mount (or vice versa), whether at home or by the manufacturer, rather than carrying 2 tripods with different mounts?
I'm pretty sure the answer is no but this ball head doesn't allow for portrait mode like their other tripods right?
the f38 video tripod does not do portrait mode - the regular f38 does allow it. Ulanzi is coming out with an f38 vertical to horizontal attachment as far as I know which will be helpful
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Very helpful. When I can do fluid wildlife videos and Instagram/TikTok videos with the same travel tripod I'll bite.
Is it possible that they might release just the tripod head? I want to use it on my own legs
not sure - but they possibly may release a quick release fluid head stand alone - but I haven’t heard anything
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks for your response. You're the one that got me buying a ZV-E10 with a Smallrig cage. Just wish there was a Ulanzi F38 cage for the ZV-E10
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it.
you got it!!
Another great find. Thank you!
they keep making good stuff!!
I love your videos man.
thank you!!
I wish the F38 comes with carbon fiber middle part. Just for aesthetics.
Tempting! But I guess that will be for travel only.
I use them for everything. my studio is small, so I love having these lightweight portable ones. I also use them for photography. but if I wanted to have a big rig on rails or really heavy stuff, I would use a heavy duty tripod
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yes. I understand. We shoot mostly bigger rigs with BMPCC. But I guess I can use this with my FX3 when I'm doing my personal docu filming.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Hey. I just checked your link. And over there it says that it can support 18 kilos! That's a lot! Like lbs 40 or so.
Good video!!! Thanks for your job. I have learned a lot on your channel in the last few months. until today I realized that I was not subscribed 🤦♂️. Very soon I will have my first camera, and as you can imagine it is ZV-E10. Thanks again for your content.
Missed opportunity on the zv-e10 😂
will the Peak Design CAPTURE plate work on this video tripod?
No, unfortunately it will not
you can buy another F38 plate ,compatible with this tripod and Peak design capture .
Can we put it vertical for portrait ?
the regular f38 tripod you can, but the video one (with fluid head) you cannot
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis How do we do portrait with this fluid head? Attach the camera to a cage and then another f38 plate to the side of the cage? So one f38 plate at the bottom for horizontal and one f38 plate at the side for vertical.
Mark sent me, want some of that Ulanzi
UPDATE ??
Awe man, I love the legs! Switches are my least favorite. If they update the “regular” one, I’m all in. 👍 Another great video!
Now - look at that. I guess ulanzi is doing those market research 🤣
Can I mount my sima 150-600 mm(sports) ?
I put my A7iv with the Sigma 150-600 on it, yes. it’s not my first choice for a setup that big, but it gets the job done for sure
Good video as usual
Appreciate that
Cool you say? :P
20cm of snow tomorrow, perhaps frigid bones as a Canuckian. By the way, Toronto made me sick again haha, 2 times in a row now! Maybe I belong further north?
We're a sickening city
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis What's weird is we stayed at 2 different hotels, backing on each other for both trips and they're right beside Nikon Canada! Nikon is secretly poisoning non-Nikon users :P
Great Video!
Thanks!!
Unbelievable 🔥🔥
Spot on Bro
The tripod looks great however I would imagine the company is in China with no offices or repair facilities in the US or Canada? Please correct me if I am wrong. So am leery about buying something this expensive from a company in China and getting the support we all might need. A lot of times you never hear from companies in China and they wont back up their products?
Ulanzi is good with responding - and they usually replace any tripods with a problem. For me - this tripod is now $171 with all the Black Friday sales - and I've used my two for a year with zero issues. So it's worth it to me - but if you are looking for the best customer service - Peak design is the way to go.
Good vídeo 👌👌
Don't buy these commercials masquerading as reviews. This tripod is crappy! I have only used this tripod very lightly and about two months, the so called "quick release" got stuck and would not even move!!! Just a stupid waste of money
It’s likely wedged in a little or the lock is on. I have three of these tripods I’ve used daily for a year and they’re still great. Packing one in my luggage for a trip for tomorrow. I don’t do commercials. I don’t get paid for reviews and I review a lot of tripods on my channel. This one is the best. I’m sure you’ll unstick the quick release. If not - contact Ulanzi - they will help you out.
Wow this looks truly fabulous!! I’m hoping to win it in the giveaway for my new ZV-E10 “Doug-ette”🤞🤞
If only it supported manfrotto
