  • Ever since gaining independence from Australia in 1975, the people of remote Maramuni in Enga have been cut off from the outside world with no road access. Maramuni, a cloud-covered Shangri-la nestled between Enga and East Sepik, has remained a land that time forgot.
This changed on April 1, 2022, when Prime Minister James Marape came to Maramuni to inaugurate the Maramuni Road, linking this forgotten land to Wabag, and also launched the Enga-Sepik Highway.
Join me as I talk to Maramuni locals and visitors from Wabag to get their perspectives on the new road and what it means for their community.
