I have decades of background in psychology, I've (unpopularly) maintained that Obvious Mental Health Issue should be addressed with mental health treatments instead of expensive pharmaceuticals and surgery. Also, there're enough chemical contaminants in our environment that act as endocrine disruptors we really cannot 100% rule out endocrine issues either. I myself had endocrine disruptor issues during puberty all the way back in the '90s; it's doubtless worse now for some people. Well done script and presentation on this. Thank you.

They require no medical intervention, entry into single sex spaces, sports, prisons by the opposite sex, demands for wrong sex pronouns and changing language for their comfort at the expense of the rest of the population, especially women. Conflating LGB with T has harmed the LGB, and we are now seeing that backlash unfortunately which is why so many gays and lesbians speak out against harmful gender ideology. If gay men were asking for access into female only spaces and sports they never would have won the equal rights they deserved, like marriage etc. People are not blind to this inequity and I hope the T doesn't destroy the hard won rights the gays won and deserved.
The they/them movement went from being non-existent prior to 2014, to being a protected class of people; free from questioning, criticism, or any kind of consequences that anyone else would be accountable for. What a difference a decade makes.
It's wild. And the truth is...most people don't have an issue with them existing. It's all the redefining that bothers me. They and them, are words that already have a definition. totally agree. one of my closest friends went through this exact situation; it's hit everyone he was closest to extremely hard because it's legitimately like losing a relative or best friend, seeing what that "care" does to a person. Lobotomy is still used in psychiatry at times because it isn’t what you imagine it is. It’s especially used when someone has violent seizures which spread between brain hemispheres. It’s rare, but sometimes the only option.

The majority of young children don't know what they want in life and to steer them down a path of irrevocable change is horrific. I've known a few people who questioned their gender and even started hormone treatments, only one went through the full process. But these friends and acquaintances were adults. When transpeople all of the sudden are coming out of the woodwork, and children of Hollywood actors are transitioning in abundance, it does look like there's an agenda being driven and the suitable moniker of "Transtrender" seems very apt.
The obvious details is huge numbers of people had amounts of confusion and got over it. For most people, it seems like the message should be "make peace with your body" and that's perhaps a non-trivial project. It seems like it's difficult to simultaneously have a message of you're probably normal and having an adult dressed up brightly show up, produce a scalpel and say "hey kids, who wants to be special?". I think you had transpeople comparing notes on what to say to game psychologists and mailing each other spare hormones to bypass the medical profession. So there was definitely an ideological edge that was just openly unrepentantly nuts. If you think about the Hogwarts game, the attempt at boycott was hoping to crash a game (and destroy years of work by hundreds of artists, programmers etc) to just minimally annoy JK (who has enough money to not care). What about that was rational?
My niece transitioned. Her Dad forbade anything permanent. 18 months later she detransitioned, and said she was just unsure about how she felt about herself and her body. The irony is, her school made her head boy in her final year. It was quite funny that a female head boy walked into the stage to get her reward at the end of the year when she had transitioned back. She now visibly much happier, is in college and has a long term boyfriend.

I'm a man who experienced sexual abuse by girls as a teenager. After a breakdown at the age of 25, I had serious problems thinking of myself as male. I'm a big guy with muscles, also have a pony tale and dress in a fairly neutral way, but everything "male" to me just seemed swaggering bravado and oafish stupidity. I was actively resentful of women for things like not needing to ask people on dates, and receiving complements and affirmation for simply existing. I knew I was %100 straight and attracted to women, I knew I wasn't trans, for all that during my abuse I did feel divorced from my own body, but for a while I did not want to be considered male, I was just me. Had "non binary" been a thing back in about 2007-13 I certainly would've done it. then, in 2015, I got married to a most definitely female lady and bang! suddenly I find that not only are there very good things about being male, but there are also ways I relate to my wife that can only be categorised as masculine. Not silly things like who does the housework, but things like me getting her to calm down and stop worrying about problems at night, or supporting her through her contracting, and recovering from cancer. I now find the idea of "non binary", pretty disgusting, indeed my lady says I'm like a recovered smoker. However, having been very close to experiencing gender based psychological issues, I can say what I learned, is that for me, and I suspect for many people experiencing gender dysphoria or wanting to be non binary, is that no, this is not a "choice", not an affirmation of "true identity", it's a denial of what you have, and what you are, likely caused by something very very wrong. Are there adults suffering gender dysphoria for whom gender transition is the right thing to do? Absolutely, but until we get away from thinking of gender dysphoria as a trend and a choice, and back to thinking of it as an actual problem caused by someone's psychology not matching up to reality, helping, supporting and accepting those people will be pretty difficult! That's why I absolutely %100 agree that we need to get away from all of the feelings and the rhetoric, and back to looking at facts and empirical data!

Seems like the narrator is trying to tell trans allies, “you can back off now from all the absolutism, because it hurts your case.” If you can’t show them they are absolutely wrong because their whole being is wrapped up in being “correct and on the right side of history”, giving them a way to save face and back off possibly couldn’t hurt. I watched a snippet of Joe Lycett's "Late Night Lycett" on UA-cam recently, which featured a comedy routine where the Cass Report was referred to as a "Right Wing hot air" by a comedy weather woman. Apparently, protecting vulnerable and confused children is "right wing" and "hot air". I believe this clip has since been removed, but, it does give us an insight as to what we're dealing with. When I was a child I wanted to be a pirate. Thankfully, that was the 70's, so I am still in possession of both legs.

Sensitive, sensible and eloquent essay on a well beaten topic. Having grown up during the 70's I saw the latter stages of feminism and the precurser to the LBG+, which then, as now, went too far and became political beyond the original intention of equality. One of the common methods high demand groups (i.e., cults) employ to lock followers into their new belief system is assigning new names, new clothes, new identities. This falls under the B(ehavior) part of the BITE model of authoritarian control. The same phenomenon is operative when you change a child's name and clothing to fit the new trans identity. It reinforces the cognition, making it harder for the child to desist. As the Cass review notes, social transition is _not_ a neutral intervention.

It was just accepted then that that was how some girls were. No one assumed she was a boy trapped in a female body. She has two children and two grandchildren now. If you fail to protect children from others and even from themselves many times, then you have failed as a parent/guardian. Children should never be allowed to decide such important issues for themselves. They are children. Parents who cater to the whims of a child are not fulfilling their roles as protectors, educators and guides. There is no debate - facts are facts. The most basic attribute of a child is that he is a child - not grown, immature, inexperienced, unable to make adult decisions. ANYONE who disagrees with this view should not be given authority over children.

It would be easier to feel sympathy if the most public and vocal advocates of the trans community weren't merely trying to protect those who identify as trans, but make it impossible to even conduct the most reasonable inquiries and research where the results might challenge their dogma. It seems reasonable, for example, to ask whether biologically female athletes face a greater risk of injury on fields where they encounter trans athletes, or if trans athletes consistently place above their competition to the point of unfairness. But to pose such questions is to be labelled a transphobe, and often berated with a list of "facts" that are anything but.
This is everyone's real problem with the tr4ns movement. Nobody really cares outside of religious fanatics if a feminine boy wants to see his life realized as a woman. The problem is that they (the activists) are actively trying to bully everyone into unquestionably accepting their demands, which includes the shit like tr4ns athletes. Their goal is to immediately silence opposition to their goals, whether that be through shouting at them, deplatforming them, or even trying to ruin their lives through getting them fired and socially ostracized.

Youth is seeking for their place in society and their personal believes since mankind. Its part of growing up. E.g. kids (may) start to ask questions about god or philosophical topics in very early years. To me its a bit alarming, how far some of our next generations are willing to go - just to have their place. I think "we" did a very poor job - in general. I think living in a meritocracy, like we do, is literal poison for young adults. There have been incidents of suic***, because of bad grades and its increasing dramatically - this is crazy. The point i'm trying to make is: If kids are the product of their parents, than every individual is the product of their personal experiences - IF this is true: What does this say about the societies we created? I'm not surprised of many kids, young adults and adults starting to drift away...

I think that one overlooked fatal flaw in the movement is that it asked quite a lot of the general population, but forgot to offer them anything they wanted in return. It's hard to call something a good deal when what you get is nothing.

One of the ways they used to sell immigration when I was a kid was cultural enrichment: the idea that you'd get to meet interesting people, try new foods, hear new music and that your kids might even learn a second language. Offering benefits to everybody involved is just good marketing, whether you're selling a product or an idea.

It was always weird to me that a miniscule minority rebelled against labels and conformity by demanding that the majority adopt new labels and conform to new definitions of basically everything. Everyone should be treated with dignity and nobody should deny another person’s humanity, but I can’t think of a less charismatic movement in my lifetime (which they called tone policing when I told them). I think it’s because taking the hormones required to transition makes you go through a second puberty, so the whole movement is basically teenagers no matter their age.
Every time I tune in to this channel, I swear I learn something new, see something from a new perspective. Not every essayist/commentator can pull that off, but you do!
As a pediatrician, I just have to say to this to every healthcare provider who for the purpose of treating 'gender dysphoria' have aggressively promoted transitioning of young teens with hormone blockers and sex-changing surgeries: "Shame on you". To the parents who voluntarily and happily agree to such procedures: "You don't deserve children".
Well, to be fair, many of the parents have been terrified by those very healthcare providers with stories of "I know another kid whose parents didn't let him transition and he shot himself in the head! Is that what you want for your child?! This is totally a studied and approved medical procedure so don't kill your own kid with your ignorance!"
As someone who was at one point briefly identified as my opposite sex and Non-Binary, I realized that my thoughts were not true to myself and who I actually was as a person, and that their was cultural influences such as these ideologies speaking to me because I didn't fit in as a person. When you don't know what you really want in life and what group of people speak to you, the LGBT all of suddenly becomes appealing. Sure, sexual identity is complex, and theirs inherently nothing wrong about wanting to be feminine as a man vice versa. But it doesn't change the fact that I am biologically born a male, why should I be more like a girl if I already 'feel' like a girl? it's sad that people don't really know themselves and what they want and are convinced that they are someone that they are not. Transgender is ok but transracial and identifying as animals isn't? where do you draw the line? This is why it is so hard on parents, family members and friends, most people aren't actually transphobic. The fact of me saying this could be a borderline "hate speech" and not constructive criticism makes me suspicious that it's really not for the best will of the people. That being said, I've become much more confident in-myself as a person and I have walked away from identity politics because I see it for what it is and I prefer critical thinking of my own eye of the world. That's not to say I have distaste against people who are transgender, I know quite a few and including a close cousin. I just happen to disagree with these belief that to me has clearly become a progressive ideology and not natural. Apart of being a human being is being confident in who you are, including my masculinity vice versa of what we are given, I couldn't quite catch on the tip of my tongue my thoughts, as they are complicated. But this was an excellent video, I hope your career goes forward and that this reaches the wider audiences that it needs too such as myself.

What I find strange is that for all of the treatments devised for people suffering from gender dysphoria, from horrifically brutal behavioral modification programs to hair-trigger chemical and surgical transition, I have not seen any effort to at least try what seems the most logical (from a biological perspective): low-level same-sex hormones. If feelings and biology disagree, and it does appear to be, after counseling and other evaluation, a brain chemistry issue, surely a gentle nudge of that chemistry toward the biological sex is a better first attempt than massive doses of opposite-sex hormones to reconstruct the body.

There is a difference between sex and gender. A distinction you are missing. Also, given that a dragon is not really any sort of orientation of a human, no, it is not the same. I will forever be grateful that my ex wife and I couldn't have kids. It must be hell to grow up in the modern world. The entire world is being separated in only a few groups with no personal identities. It seems to become against the law to think for yourself and be yourself. I am glad I grew up in the previous century, because the world seems to become hell for new kids. The current young people will be the parents of the next generation and that's scary. I did my child protection certification earlier this year. NOWHERE does it say it’s ok to talk to kids you work with about ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY sexual. This is drilled into you. Anything, literally anything to do with relationships or adult interactions is a welfare concern and should be reported to your designated person. We are NOT to bring this up unless the child does because it can be a leading question. Even if a kid tells you something, you aren’t technically allowed to ask questions, just note down exactly what they said in their words and then pass it up the chain. You are even told to keep an eye out for Münchausen syndrome by proxy, specifically, by name, Usually committed by the mother. Trans ideology needs to be included in this diagnosis.
I have decades of background in psychology, I've (unpopularly) maintained that Obvious Mental Health Issue should be addressed with mental health treatments instead of expensive pharmaceuticals and surgery. Also, there're enough chemical contaminants in our environment that act as endocrine disruptors we really cannot 100% rule out endocrine issues either. I myself had endocrine disruptor issues during puberty all the way back in the '90s; it's doubtless worse now for some people.

I'm suggesting you look at the stats of people who have gender affirming care and are happy with it vs those who are not. On that subject there is a meta-analysis that Cornell did, and stats on reasons for de transitioning published by Massachusetts General hospital.

Lobotomy is still used in psychiatry at times because it isn’t what you imagine it is. It’s especially used when someone has violent seizures which spread between brain hemispheres. It’s rare, but sometimes the only option.

The majority of young children don't know what they want in life and to steer them down a path of irrevocable change is horrific. I've known a few people who questioned their gender and even started hormone treatments, only one went through the full process. But these friends and acquaintances were adults.
When transpeople all of the sudden are coming out of the woodwork, and children of Hollywood actors are transitioning in abundance, it does look like there's an agenda being driven and the suitable moniker of "Transtrender" seems very apt.
The obvious details is huge numbers of people had amounts of confusion and got over it. For most people, it seems like the message should be "make peace with your body" and that's perhaps a non-trivial project. It seems like it's difficult to simultaneously have a message of you're probably normal and having an adult dressed up brightly show up, produce a scalpel and say "hey kids, who wants to be special?". I think you had transpeople comparing notes on what to say to game psychologists and mailing each other spare hormones to bypass the medical profession. So there was definitely an ideological edge that was just openly unrepentantly nuts. If you think about the Hogwarts game, the attempt at boycott was hoping to crash a game (and destroy years of work by hundreds of artists, programmers etc) to just minimally annoy JK (who has enough money to not care). What about that was rational?
My niece transitioned. Her Dad forbade anything permanent. 18 months later she detransitioned, and said she was just unsure about how she felt about herself and her body. The irony is, her school made her head boy in her final year. It was quite funny that a female head boy walked into the stage to get her reward at the end of the year when she had transitioned back. She now visibly much happier, is in college and has a long term boyfriend.

I'm a man who experienced sexual abuse by girls as a teenager.
After a breakdown at the age of 25, I had serious problems thinking of myself as male.
I'm a big guy with muscles, also have a pony tale and dress in a fairly neutral way, but everything "male" to me just seemed swaggering bravado and oafish stupidity.
I was actively resentful of women for things like not needing to ask people on dates, and receiving complements and affirmation for simply existing.
I knew I was %100 straight and attracted to women, I knew I wasn't trans, for all that during my abuse I did feel divorced from my own body, but for a while I did not want to be considered male, I was just me.
Had "non binary" been a thing back in about 2007-13 I certainly would've done it.
then, in 2015, I got married to a most definitely female lady and bang!
suddenly I find that not only are there very good things about being male, but there are also ways I relate to my wife that can only be categorised as masculine.
Not silly things like who does the housework, but things like me getting her to calm down and stop worrying about problems at night, or supporting her through her contracting, and recovering from cancer.
I now find the idea of "non binary", pretty disgusting, indeed my lady says I'm like a recovered smoker.
However, having been very close to experiencing gender based psychological issues, I can say what I learned, is that for me, and I suspect for many people experiencing gender dysphoria or wanting to be non binary, is that no, this is not a "choice", not an affirmation of "true identity", it's a denial of what you have, and what you are, likely caused by something very very wrong.
Are there adults suffering gender dysphoria for whom gender transition is the right thing to do? Absolutely, but until we get away from thinking of gender dysphoria as a trend and a choice, and back to thinking of it as an actual problem caused by someone's psychology not matching up to reality, helping, supporting and accepting those people will be pretty difficult!
That's why I absolutely %100 agree that we need to get away from all of the feelings and the rhetoric, and back to looking at facts and empirical data!
Translation: I had an experience, and will now use that brush to paint everyone else with.

Apparently, protecting vulnerable and confused children is "right wing" and "hot air". I believe this clip has since been removed, but, it does give us an insight as to what we're dealing with. One of the common methods high demand groups (i.e., cults) employ to lock followers into their new belief system is assigning new names, new clothes, new identities. This falls under the B(ehavior) part of the BITE model of authoritarian control. The same phenomenon is operative when you change a child's name and clothing to fit the new trans identity. It reinforces the cognition, making it harder for the child to desist. As the Cass review notes, social transition is _not_ a neutral intervention.

Children should never be allowed to decide such important issues for themselves. They are children. Parents who cater to the whims of a child are not fulfilling their roles as protectors, educators and guides. There is no debate - facts are facts. The most basic attribute of a child is that he is a child - not grown, immature, inexperienced, unable to make adult decisions. ANYONE who disagrees with this view should not be given authority over children.

It would be easier to feel sympathy if the most public and vocal advocates of the trans community weren't merely trying to protect those who identify as trans, but make it impossible to even conduct the most reasonable inquiries and research where the results might challenge their dogma. It seems reasonable, for example, to ask whether biologically female athletes face a greater risk of injury on fields where they encounter trans athletes, or if trans athletes consistently place above their competition to the point of unfairness. But to pose such questions is to be labelled a transphobe, and often berated with a list of "facts" that are anything but.
This is everyone's real problem with the tr4ns movement. Nobody really cares outside of religious fanatics if a feminine boy wants to see his life realized as a woman. The problem is that they (the activists) are actively trying to bully everyone into unquestionably accepting their demands, which includes the shit like tr4ns athletes. Their goal is to immediately silence opposition to their goals, whether that be through shouting at them, deplatforming them, or even trying to ruin their lives through getting them fired and socially ostracized.

Youth is seeking for their place in society and their personal believes since mankind. Its part of growing up. E.g. kids (may) start to ask questions about god or philosophical topics in very early years. To me its a bit alarming, how far some of our next generations are willing to go - just to have their place. I think "we" did a very poor job - in general. I think living in a meritocracy, like we do, is literal poison for young adults. There have been incidents of suic***, because of bad grades and its increasing dramatically - this is crazy.
The point i'm trying to make is: If kids are the product of their parents, than every individual is the product of their personal experiences - IF this is true: What does this say about the societies we created?

As someone who was at one point briefly identified as my opposite sex and Non-Binary, I realized that my thoughts were not true to myself and who I actually was as a person, and that their was cultural influences such as these ideologies speaking to me because I didn't fit in as a person. When you don't know what you really want in life and what group of people speak to you, the LGBT all of suddenly becomes appealing. Sure, sexual identity is complex, and theirs inherently nothing wrong about wanting to be feminine as a man vice versa. But it doesn't change the fact that I am biologically born a male, why should I be more like a girl if I already 'feel' like a girl? it's sad that people don't really know themselves and what they want and are convinced that they are someone that they are not. Transgender is ok but transracial and identifying as animals isn't? where do you draw the line? This is why it is so hard on parents, family members and friends, most people aren't actually transphobic. The fact of me saying this could be a borderline "hate speech" and not constructive criticism makes me suspicious that it's really not for the best will of the people. That being said, I've become much more confident in-myself as a person and I have walked away from identity politics because I see it for what it is and I prefer critical thinking of my own eye of the world. That's not to say I have distaste against people who are transgender, I know quite a few and including a close cousin. I just happen to disagree with these belief that to me has clearly become a progressive ideology and not natural. Apart of being a human being is being confident in who you are, including my masculinity vice versa of what we are given, I couldn't quite catch on the tip of my tongue my thoughts, as they are complicated. What I find strange is that for all of the treatments devised for people suffering from gender dysphoria, from horrifically brutal behavioral modification programs to hair-trigger chemical and surgical transition, I have not seen any effort to at least try what seems the most logical (from a biological perspective): low-level same-sex hormones. If feelings and biology disagree, and it does appear to be, after counseling and other evaluation, a brain chemistry issue, surely a gentle nudge of that chemistry toward the biological sex is a better first attempt than massive doses of opposite-sex hormones to reconstruct the body.

There is a difference between sex and gender. A distinction you are missing. Also, given that a dragon is not really any sort of orientation of a human, no, it is not the same.
Could make the argument that someone could identify as being a race that they are not. That would be a better parallel to draw.
I will forever be grateful that my ex wife and I couldn't have kids. It must be hell to grow up in the modern world. The entire world is being separated in only a few groups with no personal identities. It seems to become against the law to think for yourself and be yourself. I am glad I grew up in the previous century, because the world seems to become hell for new kids. The current young people will be the parents of the next generation and that's scary. Who would have thought having Boomer parents would be better than having Gen Z and Gen Aplha parents?

I did my child protection certification earlier this year.
NOWHERE does it say it’s ok to talk to kids you work with about ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY sexual. This is drilled into you. Anything, literally anything to do with relationships or adult interactions is a welfare concern and should be reported to your designated person. We are NOT to bring this up unless the child does because it can be a leading question. Even if a kid tells you something, you aren’t technically allowed to ask questions, just note down exactly what they said in their words and then pass it up the chain. You are even told to keep an eye out for Münchausen syndrome by proxy, specifically, by name, Usually committed by the mother. Trans ideology needs to be included in this diagnosis.
