I don't think it was mentioned (I'm probably wrong) but I think you can set your monstie to do a specific attack type by telling it to use skills as well. While this costs kinship gauge and so doesn't provide the same boost to your meter, it can be a lifesaver when moves are mismatched.

you dont need to match the part your attacking with your monstie but you do need to make sure they are attacking the same monster as sometimes you might get targeted but your monster chooses to attack another monster on the field. the best way to tell is see who your monstie is facing towards and if your not sure, then select the attack for them.
Basically how Double attacks are work. If both of you and your monsti are targeting a monster and if they are using a normal attack or skill attack. If both of you put for example. and your enemy put . It mean you won and u both can do the double attack. It’s something like Rock - Paper - scissor
I don't know if it still stands in MHS2 but in MHS there was a "Rathian Armor" and if I'm not mistaken one of its passives was increasing the likelihood of monsters retreating to their Den as well. Just a little boost tho.
Dumping a pile of charms into the Prayer Pot to level up immediately works perfectly. I levelled from 11 to 20 with a pile of lucky charms that I do not use, despite this the Prayer Pot still gave me all the appropriate charms that I would get for all the levels achieved when I dumped around 80 charms into the pot at once. So do not hesitate to level up your Prayer Pot to level 20 all in one go if you have enough charms of a type you do not use.
Maybe I’m wrong but, regarding the Double Attacks, I noticed in the demo that I never got a DA if both myself and the monstie were using skills, even if the attack types were the same and correct for the HtH. It seemed like at least one of us needed to use a basic attack. Also, if you’re in a group with a buddy (not sure if this applies to co-op), you can get DAs with your buddies’ monstie and they can get DAs with yours, provided all the normal criteria are met. This raises the kinship gauge for both of you.
So, from doing a bunch of testing. You or your Monstie, or the partner's monstie can use a skill, but there must be a basic strike, dual-skills cannot trigger a Double Attack, sadly.
3:57 That is not true. If you do a double attack, your monstie will always aim for the same part as you are. Otherwise it will aim for the part that your wheel starts on when you start the battle, and will go clockwise if said part is broken.
Something to note but it doesn’t matter what part you’re monstie is attacking, as long as you both are using the winning move the game will override the monstie’s part and double attack your own, i’ve never had that problem
Awesome video. I highly recommend this to not only new players of the series but older players as well. The info refresh was greatly appreciated and I'm glad I checked put this video
hi ho. 1st: what part of the enemy your monstie focuses does not matter as long as you're not the one telling it to focus said part, BUT there are monstie attacks that you can't double attack with! most notably AOE attacks and certain skills. 2nd: The rarity of the eggs, the shine is what matters. No shine is common, Gold shine is rare(always smelly), and Platinum shine is very rare(always reeks). The Weight as far as I know only serves as a hint as to what monster is in the egg. (Gammoth will always be heavy, Jaggi always light and so forth) Great vid :)
Wonder if ya knew this, but you can also dual attack with an ally's monstie. Best part is both your gauges fill from doing this. ...Also Agnaktor isn't a monstie and I'm super sad.
About the eggs... Unless something drastically changes later in the game, my understanding is that Navirou's comments are worthless. The pattern tells you its species while the glow tells you how strong its genes are (rainbow glow > yellow glow > no glow). The weight is just the star number of the species (e.g. Aptonoth is 1* "light as a feather", while Bulldrome is 2* "light"), while the "scent" is Navirou restating the glow.
A bit of misinformation and missing information on double attacks. If your Monstie is targeting the monster you want to double attack with the right type of attack you don't need to worry about what part its selecting the double attack will always hit the part you select with your rider. Another thing of note is you can use various skills from genes to give a Monstie different types of attack skills (tech, power speed) and use them manually to guarantee double attacks but your rider must use a basic attack of the correct type. Rider weapon skills cannot be used in double attacks.

Here's another tip that I would like to add on about making a monster retreat, if you defeat the the monster within 5 turns or under it will increase the chance significantly like I killed a yian-kut-ku in 4 turns and through a paint ball and when it was defeated it said at the side of the screen 60% of retreating and that is only the under 5 turn, if you stack it with paintball it might jump up to like 70-80% maybe.
the explanation of double attacks had some incorrect information. Where most of it was right, it doesn't matter what body part your aiming for, if a double attack is done it will be done on the part you aimed for. Particular monstie skills that are attacks don't trigger double attacks. YOU CAN DOUBLE ATTACK WITH YOUR PARTNERS MONSTIE ALSO, if the monster is targeting it and if your partner is not using the right attack but their monstie is, if you use the right attack with their monstie you will double attack with them
The double attack stuff is misleading/incorrect You need to fulfill the following conditions: -you are using an attack style that wins agains the enemies attack style -the enemy has a target line to either you or the monstie/ally you want to pair with -the monstie/ally that you want to pair with needs to also be using the same attack style as you -your ally must be using a single target attack/skill to target the enemy (parts do not matter at all) -you must be using a basic attack, not a skill attack (allys can use skills, but only single target though)

there is some thing he missed about the double attack. one you have to make sure its not an aoe attack it has to target only one monster. if there is only one monster some still dont work for the double attack. Another thing I found out is if the monster your fighting is facing you or your monstie and it dont have a line showing that its going to target get it you can go to your monsties skills and some times the line will show up for a head to head.

on the topic of Paintballs, using it on monsters at low health increases its efficacy, so it's a good idea to use it when the monster you're trying to retreat gets to the red portion of its health. Also, you can only activate double attacks if both you and your monstie's attacks would win the head-to-head, in case of a tie or loss you won't activate it, and another thing: only basic attacks can activate the double attack, which means that skills with types can't be used for it.

These are all things that were in the first game that people who played the first game should already know and I like how people said you could hop into this game without playing the 1st but I don’t recommend that play the 1st game first and then play this it will all make more sense
Wait. How do you control the monsties moves that specifically? I feel like the most I can do is suggest an attack type. Not target a part or anything...
You get the doble attack if you type attack and your monster atack is the same and WIN the rival atack type! If the monster do all (focus on you or on your monsty) but you dont win the type fight, you will not do a doble atack!
Fellow Hunter/Rider allies are dtory-based as far as i know, one keaves the party when you get a different one Tho i guess in post-game you can ask them to join you
I'm pretty sure some of the double attack info is wrong. The only times doubles attacks with your monstie don't work, is when your momstie is using an aoe, or you are using a skill. The part your monstie is targeting doesn't matter.
I think the wight has to do with the rarity of the monster, just because of the kind of monster that it is, so this will never change. What you need to focus on is the smell.
First Rise (even though Hojo clearly has a juvenile version) now Stories 2?! Why is Capcom keeping the Tusky frog friend on the sidelines? The monsters are full sized but the monsties are more compact sized for riding. I hope the Rise updates are not done yet and I hope some fun updates come for Stories 2 as well (given that the NA version didnt get the JP stuff...). Also, could they not have found a high-pitched VA for Navirou, given that his wyvern speak voice was very sharp toned?
To know whether if it’s a good Egg. There’s 3 ways to determine. 1. smell of the egg. The Smell went from No smell to super nice smelly. Or something like that. 2. The weight of the egg. The heavier the better. 3. the Egg has 4 different color for each monsti that are hatchable.
the double attack thing is slightly untrue, you can double attack with your partner's monstie if you are their monstie is being attacked and you are obth doing the correct attack type together, its not just your monstie.
Not only did they add Tetsu, Duram, and Plesioth as non-monsties, but they also watered down Qurupeco's rider ability into a *sonar-type* skill, showing monsters as blips on the map. ...Why, Capcom?
I will say that one part is incorrect in that ur monstie doesn't need to be targeting the exact same part u are. It only needs to be using a regular attack or single target skill that has an attack type and not a yellow generic skill on the same monster you are targeting with a regular attack and if it wins the HtH it will trigger the double and will deal the damage to the part you are targeting so you don't need to use the kinship to have ur monstie target the exact same spot you are to get a double.

I dunno im addicted to your intro. From MH world i guess, when i hear it my dopamine is like tImE tO LeArN!
First rise teases with baby tetsucabra and now stories dangles it if front of our faces. I just want my adorable demon toad.
If the egg shines when you grab it determining the rarity, do you really need to pay attention to what Nav is saying? Or can you just watch the shine basically?
These are all things that were in the first game that people who played the first game should already know and I like how people said you could hop into this game without playing the 1st but I don’t recommend that play the 1st game first and then play this it will all make more sense
Wait. How do you control the monsties moves that specifically? I feel like the most I can do is suggest an attack type. Not target a part or anything...
You can get for example speed genes for it to use them more
Also some monsters only have one part that can be attacked but most monsters have parta that can be chosen while attacking
Yea I think I just haven't seen enough yet. The demo is awesome but doesn't provide a ton of different battle situations.
Do we get to keep the glitched Anjanath?
You get the doble attack if you type attack and your monster atack is the same and WIN the rival atack type! If the monster do all (focus on you or on your monsty) but you dont win the type fight, you will not do a doble atack!
I was looking forward to adding tetsucabra to my team since it was my first real hunt when I started back in gen
When the monsties retreat how do you know where the den is to get their egg ? Sorry just bought the game today
It will show up on you’re map, a green marker.
You can also double attack with your allies monsties
Or Hunters, which apparently count as monstie's for double attacks
@@YuubiTimberwolf it's strange but makes sense. Gotta be Monster like to fight monsters lol
Tetsucabra not being a monstie makes me sad
Same
same
My boy Tetsu out of the fight again 😫 Here's hoping he might be DLC, I highly doubt it but 🤞
They might bc they might add him as a monstie with his deviant version hopefully it kinda makes sense
We have zamtrios as a monstie why not tetsucabra
So I wanna know What plans some of you have for names for me I want to get a tigrex called dreadrunner
Question: How party members work? You can select them or the menu? Depends of the map? You can recruit them?
Fellow Hunter/Rider allies are dtory-based as far as i know, one keaves the party when you get a different one
Tho i guess in post-game you can ask them to join you
All of these are very useful tips!
What you need to focus on is the smell.
thanks for this video it was really helpful
I’m having so much fun with this game so far!!
4. When you hatch it. It rank from Blue - Gold - Rainbow background.
the double attack thing is slightly untrue, you can double attack with your partner's monstie if you are their monstie is being attacked and you are obth doing the correct attack type together, its not just your monstie.
Can you change your eye color in the full version??? Weird question I know, but just curious
Not only did they add Tetsu, Duram, and Plesioth as non-monsties, but they also watered down Qurupeco's rider ability into a *sonar-type* skill, showing monsters as blips on the map.
...Why, Capcom?
They got rid of the free knock down after 3 won H2H like they had in the first game. Makes sense since the helped the combat choices of monsters.
hey question, whenever my team does a head to head, or a team tag attack, the game freezes, can any one tell me why and how to fix?
Thank you Arrekz for thus video :3
i want to ask something, is the PC ver of the game must be use with controller? because i dont have any
Nice advices!!
I only played the mh stories 1. Cause i only play on mobile.. 2 seems pretty much became anime like than the 1 where the character looks like chibi.. is there many new monstie in mh 2? What i do know is theres new weapons in 2
If you get a monster to retreat, will all eggs from that batch match the monster or just the first one?
All eggs will match the monster you forced to retreat.
Number 5 is cool to know.
*Me looking at my prayer pot level 20(MAX)(nothing to do except farming until the release)*
when r the weapon workshops coming :(
CAPCOM, WHY WON'T YOU GIVE TETSUCABRA THE APPRECIATION HE DESERVES?!?!?!?!?!?!
its 5am... time to get my pencil and notebook and write this down.
Dang so the rumors about some of the guys I was most looking forward to not being rideable are probably true. I’d honestly kind of rather them not be in the game at all at that point so the devs could have focused more on other aspects of the game or on making more of the available roster monsties rather than just making a load of extra monsters that aren’t.
