A room; styrofoam shells from TV packages; Kente Cloth; an array of Star Wars toys with that classic 1995 “Power of the Force” Millennium Falcon; and the fearless encouragement of his older brother. This was all that Amartei Armar needed to fuel his imaginations and it served to be the beginnings of his journey towards becoming a storyteller through film.
The product of a Ghanaian father and an American mother, he found topics surrounding identity, immigration, and the human need to feel a sense of belonging both utterly fascinating and conflicting having spent most of his life moving back and forth between the two countries.
Upon completing his BFA in Film Production at the University of British Columbia, he completed his first film “ARC” which went on to screen successfully at many international festivals. He later moved back to Ghana permanently to team up with super producer, Yemoh Ike, working together to create “VAGABONDS”, his first film shot in his “fatherland” Ghana. The short film went on to screen at several festivals around the world. It’s highest achievement, winning the Oscar Qualifying 1st Prize Award in the Short Film World Competition at the Montreal World Film Festival. His most recent film, “I Like It Here’” received the coveted Vimeo Staff Pick Award online.
Currently he is Paris on course to release two more Ghanaian short films this year in 2022, as he prepares to direct his first feature length film, which will be set in Ghana.

I have the honour of being a returnee descendant who was born in Ghana. I was born in UK to Jamaican parents and married my wonderful husband Ghanaian when we were in our 20s. I didnt know then what I know now that my destiny was to fall in love with the home of my ancestors and own a home of my own in Accra. My children know there heritage and Ghana is home. My testimony is huge and yes God quite literally led us to be together. I love Ghana so much and even though I just spent a month there and had the joy of seeing in the New Year there 2022. I lost my mother last September and was not able to bring her with us for Christmas but she a Jamaican now owns a piece of the motherland because it was her wish that I would live in Ghana and now I own a home we bought before it was even built and she was thrilled. So I have come home and am happiest when I am in Ghana. I plan to share my testimony on my channel soon but for now I am so excited to see so many like minded brothers and sisters returning and I pray for their dreams and vision for the future of Ghana to be fulfilled. God planted the seed for my life and destiny to be married to a Ghanaian and to return to my motherland before I even met or ever imagined it would happen to me. I am in awe of what the Lord has done. God bless you all in your endeavours to make a new life in Ghana.

The making of movies is a great idea. I've always wanted someone to make movies of a successful Afrika, maybe with small pockets of poverty but show a solution to destroy it. These are feel good movies and Afrikans need to see this. I watch mostly Afrikan movies but many of them are in the villages where ppl are so poor. My thirst can only be quenched with a movie about portraying us as rich.
Black Panther put a pride in all of us. Movies can change the way we think about ourselves and we must change that poor and begging mentality and pursue greatness.

I am going to say something here. I think we need to have a battle of the jellof rice competition just to settle this matter. Sorry to say Flavour Nabania said Cameroon has the best jellof rice and I agree. Let's choose the candidates who claim they can do it better not just people from the streets and carry out this competition so that we can lay it to rest. Let's recommend people from all jellof cooking countries so that this challenge can begin. For Cameroon I will recommend Kengskitchen, Fran's cuisine or Precious core. Perhaps this can be one of your episodes just for the fun of it.

Hi one thing I will say is that we cannot start to understand the number of competent black people currently living worldwide that wish to return. When people comment on your focus on Ghana but slant it towards Africa as a whole, it's not tribalism, it's liberty from the residue of our colonial history. If Ghana was big enough for all blacks we would move there. It isn't so, and so by all means focus but look at Russia, if Africa doesn't Unite I won't make the prediction but we are on a one way street t

I’m coming from a “southern” family and I took initiative to learn more and UA-cam has inspired me to want better after I seen better. I never had anyone that visited or talked about it. They couldn’t teach me what they didn’t know or what was beat out of them. Think it was a generational limitation. So the idea was based on my own curiosity.
