In the 1980s when our 3 children were young we camped on the North York Moors with a view to exploring the Moors. The sun came out on the second day and we headed for the coast, finding Sandsend quite by accident. After that we went there every day - and for the next 4 years. They were by far the most blissful holidays we ever enjoyed. Glad to see that little has changed, although the traffic must make living there a hell on earth. Lovely film, thank you.
I just don’t understand why anyone would give this video a thumbs down. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to produce these very interesting videos.
Untill 1958 Sandsend had a railway line which crossed the sea and village by I think 2 steel viaducts , the old station still exists and looks down on the car park, in its day it provided railway camping coaches in the siding. I really enjoyed your videos and thank you for the effort you put in to produce them.
Ahh I missed the railway stuff! I'll have to go back and film another one! (any excuse to go back is good for me!) Thank you so much for watching my channel and my videos it really means a lot to me 👍
We have passed through on the bus but didn't have the opportunity to go back for a visit. Unfortunately we have now reached the stage in our lives when we can't visit places like this anymore, so it's great to see them in your videos.
we stay in whitby every year, have tried to book a holiday in sandsend for a few years but everywhere is always full, all along this coastline is fantastic, thanks for a great video.
A SUPER SPOT !!!,it doesn't get overcrowded and parkings great, the coffee shop near the river entrance is lovely, lovely little beach with ducks and pheasants !!!!![ beach shop and cafe ]
I lived in the Beach Hotel in the 1950s. Sandsend has changed so much since I was a child when it was very empty except in the height of summer. There are still recognisable parts but I hate that new bridge across Eastbeck.
We have an annual road trip to Sandsend with our dog, absolutely love it, usually stay at the Beach Hotel, fantastic place with sea view from every room and a cracking breakfast
I think I drove through here leaving Whitby on a rainy April day, it’s looks much more lovely on sunny day. The hart inn pub looked like u would get a nice pint in. I think I would like to walk from there to Whitby to build up an hunger for fish and chips and get the bus back! Great vid, keep on walking x😀
Beautiful but you missed a fantastic walk. Just at the start of your walk there is a beck with a small valley that goes in land a short way. It’s a beautiful walk up the valley and back down the other side. A second visit 😃
That just gives me a reason to go back and film a part 2 which is perfect - thank you! Thank you so much for watching my channel and my videos it really means a lot to me 👍
This is one I’ve not visited . Again very lovely coast line . The beach hotel looks very nice .yes yks has some very lovely coastal walks.my my fave yks coast line and walks is Bridlington . But there all mostly very lovely 😊 hey for yks my birth place . . Down south now but miss yks very much . It’s still home to me .thankyou Dee. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
That last house that you stop before reaching was an award winner and featured in a TV design prog and I can't find it but a search does show it featuring in the Yorkshire Post. It's a doctors surgery downstairs, the top floor has amazing sea views.
We get the X4 arriva from Middlesbrough bus station which will take us all the way to Whitby done this route at least six times all together it takes just under 2 hours lovely views though and sandsend is one of them villages we drive through but I have never ever got off and had a look around but when the children are off school at the end of may beginning of June 2023 " that is exactly what I'm going to do ; just hope the weather is ok😅.
Sandsend is one of those funny little places you find along the local coast - pretty and all that but not really a lot THERE, until you start looking...It’s another good one for fossil hunting and rock pooling, and the beach is so good that it’s attracted visitors for decades - another one of our little hidden gems. ‘Tis said (no idea how true it is) that Lewis Carroll wrote “The Walrus and the Carpenter” after visiting Sandsend beach. Nice cafes and watering holes if you’re looking for them, too, a pleasant little place that’s worth visiting if you’re in the area
We walked along the beach from Whitby to sandsend, we thought the village was very pleasant and picturesque. We had a meal at the Hart inn, great food and really nice people. We will go again and take in the pleasant area and scenery.
Just subscribed to your channel congrats on such a great chanel been watching your vids for a while now you put so much effort into these vlogs they are truly very good.We always hear about the main seaside towns but I never heard of Sandsend looks beautiful I do hope you do more of these small coastal places weather permitting of course big fan thanks take care ;-)
Thank you much Ann! That's such a lovely message! I definitely will be doing the little places that aren't your major ones for sure - I love filming them Thank you again!
Yeah it's definitely worth a stop off Ian! Even better if it's sunny! Thank you so much for watching my channel and my videos it really means a lot to me 👍
Always go to Sandsend when in the area . From car park go down ramp onto beach , when the tide is out walk to left to the headland , great for fossil hunting . Don't go too close to cliffs as danger from falling rocks .
@@GimbalWalkTV A suggestion for a walk would be Woodall Spa famous as the base for The Dambusters 617 Squadron R.A.F. Lincolnshire , its like stepping back in time .

When the tide is out.... walk down to the sea from the car park....and do a left, over to the cliffs..... on the ground, you will find many fossils, a large number of them will be gold in colour.... pyrite (spelling)... there are some nice little caves over there as well, with some amazing colours.... Just as you cross the small bridge, there's a dirt road on the right.... down there, near the water mill is a guy that works on fossils....Mike is us name.... he has some stunning works...I saw one that was about 8-900mm in diameter....about 3 foot. I love Sands end.
Mike Marshall, is the guy. You can pick them up all along that coast.... I got alot from redcar beach. Now's not a good time, as the beach is covered in sand..... believe it or not.... redcar beach is very rocky....depending on the time of year or tides.... all the rocks and fossils are buried under about 3-5ft of sand.....

Maybe as it's a 'modern' design? - modern tends to equate to mingin, ugly. They built things more attractive in the past!

Sea fishing quite good at high and low tide, codling in colder months flatties in summer months.
Is that off the wall where those two fella's were doing their fishing in the video James?
No the North end from the car park
