  • Thanks to Graeme from ‪@AquariumAdventures‬ / @aquariumadventures for taking part in the initial Biorock trials and producing this great video.
For the first week of the trials I was only expecting a few short unboxing videos from people who have received the Biorock but Graeme knocked up a great nano tank rock structure and planted it up prior to filming.
As it is an in-tank video I've uploaded it here on my channel for better exposure as opposed to posting unboxing videos to the 'Community tab' - thanks for that Graeme.
Check out Graeme's channel for regular uploads with great content and weekly live streams.
We're hoping to launch the Biorock for retail sale in Autumn 2023.

Great idea with Bio Rock. The media certainly works fantastic & to have decor / extra filteration in the tank is a major bonus. Will need to try this in the future 😊

Nice little demo on a nano tank. This stuff looks very good to create a unique and functional scape by helping with filtration at the same time. Yay!! Can't wait to be able to order

It's basically the forms of Biohome reformed which is basically a deep sand bed or live rock. All of the benefits and none of the problems or drawbacks. I'm quietly excited about this and it's great to see people testing it. The real results will come 4-6 months down the line and then the true benefit and value will be realized.

how long would it take for the biorock to seed to point of not needing filter?

As it is made from the same mix as Biohome Ultimate it will be around 2-3 weeks for the aerobic bacteria to establish (for ammonia and nitrite reduction) and 4-6 months for the anaerobic bacteria to establish (for the reduction in nitrate). That's assuming that there is nothing starving the bacteria (e.g. water conditioners which claim to remove / detoxify / lock up the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) or powerful anti-bacterial treatments which knock the bacteria of all types back (the population will recover once the effects of the treatment has been diluted / ceased to be active).

I don’t think it will remove the need for a filter. It will definitely help with a higher concentration of good bacteria. I use bio home in my cancer filters. I have quite often thought of maybe grinding it down and using as a substitute with under gravel filter. 😊👍🏻

The Biohome gravel works great for that!

Love the video, But I do think you're still going to need a filter for at least the first few months. Please keep us up-to-date on it. And thank you.
