Worked like a charm. Got this message after turning the TV on with a replacement remote. Followed all the steps in the exact order. TV set up new remote and the notification was no more!

Thanks, it worked and not only for the bluetooth, which was dead, but it registers the Magic Remote entirely, with all its functions, including the pointer which in my case was also missing. 👍👍👍

Some times it may be required to remove tv plug from mains for a couple of seconds to delete previous pairing.

First I found the disconnect generally happens when batteries are low. I reconnect with fresh batteries by pressing home and return together for 5 seconds until power button flashes red. Then I follow the on screen prompt.
