This footage is really a treasure as Hong Kong has experienced drastic change in 25 years. Thank you so much for your sharing We miss old Hong Kong so much..
Incredible footage. I flew in to Kai Tak in 1997 but I was not interested enough in aviation to realise how impressive the approach and airport was. I remember a few parts of the airport though and this brought back fantastic memories!
Nice Video. The flight across to my living place at 2:32, my home beside the Shek Kip Mei Mission Hill. In my childhood i always see the flight coming and gear down.
@kamwahli Eaxactly Mission Hill, only that video from rear seat, the hill top football pitch not in sight. Yet the Fahui Police Stadium, Mongkok Stadium, Ground Force and Air Force football pitches in sight. Very sure we were the neighbours of Mission Hill that time. Gear down and aeroplane belly in sight, as if we were lying down and looking up next to the aviation light tower.
truly beyond incredible especially at night ... checkerboard on the left ( followed by a sharp right turn) & Kowloon on the right ... on the right at night you are able to look right into people's apartments - washing dishes, watching tv, cooking, etc. - rather frightening for first timers ... would not have missed it for the world, well beyond compare ... Blessings to all Pilots/crew all the years of safe flying !!!
I got to fly in from North America, not long before the airport closed. I was sat on the left window seat and I remembered approaching, circling, and banking hard counter-clockwise. Because I could see Kowloon apartment rooftops just beyond the wing tip. It was the most extraordinary commercial flying experience of my life. This was one of the more difficult landings and the pilots chosen to do this had to have the nerves and technical experience to do it.
@@dawnnadir Sorry, I don't tell you the company name. The last time I visited Hong Kong was about 10 years ago. Then, I changed the job and no chance to visit Hong Kong.

The footage is so clear! Thanks for sharing this precious footage of 90s Hong Kong. Good old times!
Simply amazing. Love this. The 90's were truly the golden era for commercial aviation.
Thanks for bringing us the valuable memory of the sky of Hong Kong.
Covering Kowloon in the 90s nicely. Great footage 👍🏿👍🏿

One day, I'll travel the world like yourself and visit China and see the Great Wall. Awesome footage!

This video is the aviation treasure✅
good old days of real Hong Kong, during British era
1994年といえば、ジャッキーさんの酔拳2とかレッド・ブロンクスなんか撮影してた頃ですかね。
amazing quality
nice video
i cannot believe how people used to travel such long distances without IFE
Nice!
🤩good
did planes ever land from the other direction?
Yes, planes mostly landed from north but sometimes from south depends on wind direction.
そうか、小室哲哉は、ここに降り発ちしてたのか。
イギリス統治時代ですか?
返還前、イギリスのパッテン総督の時代です。勤務先の香港現地法人のオフィスにも普通に白人が何人も居ました。
@@kamepo What was your job when you were in Hong Kong?
@@dawnnadir I was a engineer of a broadcast equipment company then. Sometimes went to China via Lo Wu, for equipment maintenance.
