Whoa pony!!! Great video! As an anthropologist I’ve made it my life’s work to share the good, bad, and ugly past of this great country. Dred Scott was tenacious and persistent - he was steadfast in his beliefs. I feel so blessed to have seen his resting place. Im planning a road trip to visit it first hand. Thank you so much!
This is an amazing story. Until now I had never heard of Dred Scott. I bet this would make an amazing movie. Thank you for sharing it you done an amazing job as always.
Thank you for doing this video. It was an honor just to be before his grave through youtube. I found myself telling his picture how very sorry I was that he had to endure so much.
The term, the Dred Scott decision, is one that rings a familiarity to my history. He was a brave man. Is his wife buried with him, RIP to both Dred and his wife. Nice the descendants could meet.
This is one that I did learn about in school but I did not know the personal information that you have told us about here. Thank you, I enjoyed hearing the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey would say).
Hi . This is quite the story . How sad to have to sue for your freedom , but brave enough to do it. This was a very interesting and informative story. Thanks again for all your hard work! Take care ! Deborah Manitoba , Canada
Hello 👋👋 good buddy I remember him after seeing his picture and hearing about his life it's been a very long time I think I was in the fourth grade very good 👍 vlog my friend 🙏.. Arnold 🐕 🐾 🐾 said hello buddy 👋 we are both camped out on the couch watching videos now I'm still having a very rough time with my hand after the fall a week ago Saturday .. tomorrow.. stay safe and careful driving and I will be praying 🙏 for you now buddy 👍
"To see thru the eyes of others, is the only way to contemplate change". Being from the Midwest, I was unaware of Mr. Scott being buried in St. Louis. This was a great episode. Thank you for the research and the passion you put into making it.
The level of bravery was historical. I remember learning this in middle school history class. Wonderful job at history telling as I always comment. Thanks again for all that you enlighten us with.
👍👏👏👏. I'd not heard of this. Sad what people of color went through. I love hearing these stories. Every person has the right to be treated fairly. He had the right to fight for his freedom. I love History, and Learning. We all know not everybody was treated fair all through History. I find his name unusual, wonder if his mother was making a statement that he might Dred being born.maybe it's just me. But a person name can say a lot..Indeed Dred Scott was a Brave man. It could of turned out bad for him. He didn't live to enjoy his Freedom.. RIP. Mr Dred Scott..🙏🦋🌠🌻🌷✨✌. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita James.🧘♀️🙂👋..
Very good video and enjoyed the history lesson on this guy dred Scot and am glad he got his freedom even thou he didn't live to hear and know about the impact of it all for him.......rip Dred Scot
I am so sadden to hear of Mr. Scott's horrible ordeal. I hope he can rest in peace and know we are honored to have a man like him as a American free man and citizen of this country. God bless him forever.
I've never heard of this gentleman before now and I have to say that his story doesn't half make you think. We are all human, therefore, we all complain about things, but we sure as heck don't always realise how lucky we are to be born when we were. Not just slavery, but many eras where the hardship people went through, are times we can't even begin to imagine. Thank you for sharing this story 🙂
Thank you for your respect and honestly your own bravery with this video. It’s difficult still today to discuss slavery, racism, fairness or unfairness with this particular topic. We all need to take some time to realize we’re all human beings, some good some bad treat as except to be treated. And that be that. Great job ! 🙇
Thank you for this video. I have been to the courthouse in St. Louis and visited the courtroom. I teach 7th grade Civics in Alabama. We talk about the Dred Scott case in class. I will be showing this video to my students. I also show my pictures from my trip to the courthouse.
Excellent explanation about the Dred Scott case. It was a terrible decision, considered by many to be the Supreme Court's worst, and it wasn't even close. It was 7-2 against Scott.
In Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville NY, is the grave of Col. Elmer Ellsworth. He was President Lincoln's law clerk. He was murdered by the owner of a southern hotel owner, after he retrieved a Confederate Flag on the roof. The story is in Wikepedia. I have been to the grave a few times,
Thank you for sharing this important bit of history. Such a brave man. Wish he had his freedom longer. Great video 👍
I appreciate that. Thank you.

Historians aren't sure whether his given name was actually Dred or Etheldred, which became shortened to Dred.
