    Number 1 is even more emotional thanks to it’s intial broadcast. Right after Fry and Lela agree to “go around one more time,” the next show on the program was the very first episode of the series. Literally going around one more time.

    When fry figured out his nephew was named after him. It shows how much his brother actually loved and cared for him no matter how much they fought, he missed him. As simple minds played I was in tears

      @@swish9727: Yeah. Fry at least had all his new friends and a brand new life to get used to, to at least distract him from the worst of his grief, but his family had the hole he left to deal with. And it's not like they ever found a body to at least tell them it was over

    Luck of the Fryrish was the first episode of the show that made me cry openly. Considering that i'm the older brother in my family, it's an episode that really hits home for me.

    • @RickyHadou
      @RickyHadou 7 років тому +11

      zeldaed123 I know those feels. In my opinion, this episode was way more emotional than the Seymour episode. I’m also an older brother and it would absolutely kill me if my younger brother just up and disappeared and was never seen again. The fact that Yancy never got to tell Fry how much he really loved him and how he’ll never know how much he was missed is just kicks you straight in the feels.

    the best part about The End was actually when it first premiered. Farnsworth said they could go back to before he made the device that got then stuck in the first place. they say yes, Episode ends then (because television) the next episode on TV was the very first episode of the show, giving it a whole endless loop thing that the show will never truly end.

    • @Roxifer1
      @Roxifer1 8 років тому +7

      Tizzy13 I thought this as well for a long time but you really have to listen to the Professor as it sounds like he's rambling. He says they won't remember anything until the moment before the time remote is conceived, which only brings them back near the beginning of the episode.
      But it's still odd, if they truly won't remember they might just do everything again and would be stuck in that loop of that one day.
      Unless there's a return of Futurama, and the Professor does indeed remember since he would be the one controlling the remote which seems likely and the most sense. It would be a good twist upon the return of the show....which I hope happens.

      It was a bit longer after for me, but it just so happened that very year my family went to visit my sister who lived 18 hours away for a few weeks, and we couldn't take our dog. We had our neighbor take care of her while we were gone. When we got back and I went over to my neighbors to get my dog, I learned she had died just a few days before we got back.
      so as you can imagine this hit really hard, and still does.

    there is one crucial moment that WC forgot. it was in the string of episodes made into a sort of movie where Leela falls in love with a man named Lars and through a very complex string of time travel paradoxes we learn the Fry was Lars the whole time. Fry went back in time to the moment he was frozen and lives his life back in the past for another few years. not only does he actually get to meet his nephew he also gets to spend more time with Seymour until he passes in an explosion. we get closure with frys past and we get to see paradox Fry/Lars almost achieve his life goal in marrying Leela before the universe corrects the paradox and he dies. By far my favorite Futurama episode(s)

      man that is one the most crucial twist plot ever when I seen the movie, where that Lars is actually fry all along,at first when I saw the movie I thought this guy look likes fry with no hair, just beard and he's mide 30s since then that actually is fry, fry must go back his time to spend time with his family and find a job in 21st century, but since then he's change his heart to go back the future and have a chance to love leela, wow just the sad moment and sacrifice.

    • @Xr3solveXofXoneX
      @Xr3solveXofXoneX 8 років тому +9

      whats all the more heartwarming is that just before he realizes he is in fact lars, fry lets go of his feelings and accepts the fact that leela is happy even though its with another man. another funny thing is that the chamber he uses to return to the future just so happens to have his ex girlfriend in there and he pays her NO MIND he just wants to get back to leela. pure poetry

  • @KingsizeKini

    I think the reason why the show managed to get so emotional, sad but also beautiful, is not simply cause of the setting. it's cause while it is brilliantly written and done, it's still a very lighthearted and fun show. So when something actually dramatic or sad happens, it hits you so much harder. The first few seasons of scrubs did something very similar.
    That's also why I think a lot of drama shows aren't nearly as powerful, cause it's hard to feel sad during certain moments, when the majority of the show is sad.

    Two honorable mentions should be: "Sting", for the almost disturbingly depressing downward spiral of insanity that Leela goes through and the emotional twist end. As well as "The Why of Fry", for the scene where Fry talks to Nibler before having to decide to freeze himself "What is the cost of one life to save the lives of the whole universe?" "...But it was my life.".

    Never has a cartoon made me feel so much. My absolute favorites are:
    Jurassic Bark
    Sting
    The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings
    Bender's Big Score
    The Late Phillip J. Fry
    Ghost in The Machine
    Funny how the episodes that really got me were the ones involving Fry, Bender and the Robot Devil. Lol. Here are some of my favorite moments.
    I love, love, the soliloquy Fry gives when he is given the ultimatum of delivering up the robot hands to spare Leela from marrying the Robot Devil.
    "Destiny has cheated me, and forced me to decide upon. The woman that idolize and the hands of an automaton."
    The jealousy that Bender feels towards Fry when Seymour is about to be resurrected. He sees the pain that Fry feels seeing the fossilized dog sink into the lava and dives in to save it. It's so funny that a machine is possibly the most emotive of all. Even more heart-wrenching is the song that they play as Seymour waits for Fry to come back until he dies (of old age or a broken heart).
    The moment when Leela wakes up from the coma because she hears Fry calling out to him. He's been waiting there for days while she was in a coma calling out to her.
    It reminds me of an episode of Lost where Desmond's consciousness travels between 1996 and 2004. The episode ends with him realizing that Penny still loves him after 8 years of not talking to her. She is his constant. (Lost Season 4: The Constant). Fry is bound to Leela and Leela is bound to Fry and also, Bender is bound to Fry as well. It's adorable.
    What was spectacular was the realization that Fry had when he became Lars. He raced off to her, "I'm coming Leela!"
    I'll add to the list that episode where Fry goes into the dreams of his mother. He talks to her in her dreams to give her closure. I'm a momma's boy and so I can identify with what Fry is feeling.
    What a great show! Though it's tempting to wish for more episodes since the show is canceled, I don't wish for more. I think that the show did what it should have done in the few episodes that it gave us. I'm a big Simpsons fan, but, even I admit there were some duds. Futurama just consistantly delivered great episodes one after another. I'm also a big Math nerd. So, I appreciate the Physics and Math jokes.
    "Oh Bender, there is no such thing as 2."

Add to that he literally never left her side almost the entire time she was in a coma. for weeks.

      I think the cancellations and razor thin wire were a perfect thing for Futurama. It encouraged them to try new things and go new places rather than rehashing old ones.
      There are about 10 years worth of Futurama, but the fact that this list has moments from both the pre- and post- revival eras shows that they put forth genuine effort.
      And hey, at least they GOT an ending.

    Something I realized after the first couple seasons is that the underlying theme of the series is love. Watch virtually any episode from the beginning on and it's thematically about love. Romantic, platonic, and familial. Often the pursuit of love or lost love. Episode one begins with a very lonely and despondent Fry inadvertently waking up 1,000 years into the future, then saving the lives of Leela and Bender by giving them something better than what they had before, a kind of friendship they hadn't known.

      bgb0411 Zoidberg is one of my favorite characters on Futurama. He kept getting dumped on, yet, he still remained a nice guy. That's why I cried. I forget the episode where Professor Farnsworth has a disease that changes him into a yeti, but that got me , too. Zoidberg saves him because he and the Proff are real friends.

      Actually in the movie "Bender's Big Score" it is explained that after Leela fell in love with another guy, Fry went back in time a few years after his disappearance and resumed his old life. He got to meet his nephew and rented the apartment upstairs Panucci's and lived there about 12 years and all this time the dog was actually living with Fry, but staying outside the pizza place.
      So... less sad

    Some missing moments:
    A Farewell to Arms: Fry is willing to stay on a doomed Earth to let Leela escape.
    Calculon 2.0: Calculon's speech about how the world's moved on without him.
    Near-Death Wish: Farnsworth and his parents.
    The Mutants Are Revolting: Mr. Astor's story.
    The Sting: Fry's death, Leela's attempted suicide, Fry begging Leela to wake up in the hospital.
    Bendless Love: Bender accepts that Angeline loves Flexo, and helps him out from an "unbendable" girder.

    And this is why Futurama is my favourite TV show. Most emotional for me was Leela's message in "The Late Phillip J. Fry". Especially as Fry reads it in Leela's voice. I don't think any other show could have this kind of potential. A good successor is Rick and Morty with about 4-5 heart wrenching moments (thus far), along with the humour being incredibly smart.

    Aaaaahhhhh I'm so glad you chose what you chose as the #1. The final episode isn't just sad because it's emotional in itself, but also because it's probably the perfect ending to a show like Futurama. It doesn't leave itself completely unable to come back, but it totally finishes a decades-old storyline in the most complete way possible.

Futurama got cancelled by idiots not once but twice before it's completion and is revered for 99% of it's episodes. (Basically there are 3 most people agree aren't good. People saying that Futurama cancellation is good because they fear that the show can turn into the Simpsons.. c'mon.. They have the entire universe, the power to move across timeline to give us so many good episodes with many ideas. I think, seriously, that futurama can still be fresh up to a season 15 at the very least. That is what trigger me most about the cancellation of this amazing show. The potential for new ideas was huge compared to another sitcoms, and it was cancelled too soon. Everytime I hear something from Futurama it's makes me sad because of that. Futurama was one of a kind trully.

      Futurama has more potential than the simpsons, but after awhile there was a lot of flanderization and more episodes about robots than exploring new planets/alien cultures etc. I'd be all for it if there was an influx of good writing, but the characters started to flatten out after awhile so I'm cool with it. great show though.
