I found out that I am a descendant of Jenny Wiley. Her daughter Mary Jane had a daughter Charlotte, she had a daughter Lucinda who is the mother of my great grandfather George W. Perry. Him and my great grandmother Tenny lived in a little trailer at the bottom of a mountain in Huntington WV. We used to visit once a year. I remembered my grandfather telling me the story but I had it all wrong. I thought she was indigenous and was captured by a white man. So I’m glad I have heard the story correctly now. Thank you for sharing

What about the child Jenny had with Chief Black Wolf? I am living proof as one of the descendants as well. Its sad how Native American history gets eraser.

We are decendants of Hezekiah Sellards . I was given a book recently called Appalachia Crossroads it was compiled by Clayton R. Cox from 1977 . This book has a whole lot of our family listed and I’ve been getting lost in it tracing my family all the way back to Jenny Wiley .

A very sad story full of bravery. I'm a direct decendent of Caty Sage, who was taken from her home in Grayson County, at age 5. It was thought that she was taken by Indians, but later was found that it was a white man, then sold to the Indians. Thank you for this story.

My father born in 1913 told us this story a bit different. My great grandmother was Indian named Cloie from what was Breeden and Jennys Creek. He told us that Cloie helped guide her to the Tug river. That is how she escaped. This was how Jennys Creek got its name. And there is a Mud Lick on Jennys Creek. Part of Jennys Creek Is in Mingo and part in Wayne Co. Cloie is buried on the hill across from Zion Church at Breeden in the Maynard Cemetery. I can not think why my father embellished the story? He made sure we knew where she was buried. Only that WV had not become a state yet ?And boundaries blurred ? Cloie had a daughter Tennessee Johnson Hager she is buried on Hager Cemetery at Breeden. Brings up a lot of questions on accuracy to me ?
