  • In episode 3 of my Panama series, I'm guiding a new group of clients for yellowfin tuna, roosterfish, bluefin trevally, cero mackerel and a variety of snapper species. We take the pangas 10 miles down the coast to fish "The Lump," an area notorious for topwater tuna strikes and big fish.
    Then I hop in the kayak on day 2 to chase some fish with the boys. As our baits start disappearing and lines start getting bit off, we finally realize there's a HUGE school of SHARKS below us...
    If you'd like to join me for a week of fishing in this incredible fishery, email info@losbuzos.com for more info. They offer week-long guided trips year-round.

    I landed an 18 pound female steelhead on the Lower Dean river with a broken tip of my rod; it broke off about a foot of my rod. Sage fixed it. Steelhead are not as strong or as nasty as the fish you landed!! Great job! Must be a lot of fun. Aren’t you afraid that a shark might attack your kayak?? Keep it up and be safe, Tom Purtzer

    Need advice Robert: you have solidified my choice of boat. A kayak would be best for my style of fishing here in arizona. I can take it anywhere. What would be the best budget one to start with? • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому +1

      Yeah so I couldn't tell until I watched the footage, but there was half of a jack crevalle hanging off one hook on the vertical jig, and the shark had the other in its mouth. I'm guessing the jack hit, the shark sensed the fight, it came up and took half the jack off in one bite and caught the extra hook. They were all over!

    How much is the average cost of a trip here and are lured and kayaks included this place looks amazing

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому +1

      +Connor Dillon it’s $1500 for a week and that’s all inclusive: food, kayaks, room, transportation from the airport, drinks, etc. Lures and rods can be rented separately when you get there for a pretty low cost.

    When would you say is the best place to go down to panama for fishing? My parents went down there last month and are planning on going back sometime and I am hoping to tag along.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому

      It's good fishing at Los Buzos year round. I'm not sure about the Carribean coast. Los Buzos is down in Cambutal, Panama and we do trips year-round. November and December can be a bit rougher seas. I'll be back there in January and again in August.

    Hey Robert, What rod and what size reel are you using in the kayak. I have a 6500 penn spin fisher ssv will that work out there?

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому

      That’s what I use on my jigging rod, but that’s about as light as I’ll go out there.

    Did that Penn Conflict bite the dust?

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому +2

      +TridentDriver1987 turns out it was the rod, not the reel. The reel seat essentially came unglued so my reel was spinning around the rod. The Conflict was fine

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому +1

      I like my kayak to be more subtle so the fish are the star of the show in my photos/videos, so the dune (off white) Outback is my go-to a lot of the time. Don't have a favorite kayak, there's too many great ones out there!

It’s good pretty much year round. I’ll be back in January and again in August but they do Trips year round. You can email info@losbuzos.com and they’ll send you pricing and all the info ya need.

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  7 років тому

      +Someone Else how can you say that without knowing where the fish went? About 1/3 was consumed by our group of 10 over the next couple days and the other 2/3 went to the locals, who aren’t blessed with the same luxuries and lifestyle that you probably enjoy. We put food on the table for a number of kids that may or may not have had anything to eat otherwise. Maybe we have differing views, but to me, there’s nothing sad about that.
