When I shoot CMP Garand matches I have to bring my sights down 3-4MOA when we move from prone to standing. All shot at 200 yards. I figured that is due to the rifle moving slightly more before the bullet leave the barrel due to less support behind the rifle between standing and prone sling supported. Great video! You’ve helped me a lot in my Garand and Rimfire Sporter matches
as always love the info. this was actually a question i had so it helps a bunch. looking forward to my next highpower match next week. happy shooting!!
Nice session, and I agree. I shot some borrowed rigs at the CMP Western Games once. Several matches are all 200 yards, with an offhand stage as well as sling/prone rapid and slow. I saw the same issues between stages.
Interesting, I've never had these experiences, however my scope is canted 8° to the right and I shoot with that cant in all positions. I also use a lens reducer similar to what Whiteoak sells. Might have something to do with it.
I don't either but the difference in elevation is only 3/4 of the X ring, very difficult to even notice unless you're a very hard holder and have a low pulse position.
Hey Konrad, I see you were using your Leupold scope. I know I've seen you use the WOA DR scope. Do you notice as much difference? Do you adjust parallax at the different yard lines? I'm using the WOA DR scope and working on getting the best settings. I've replaced the original lens reducer to a similar one with a much smaller hole. That has helped me be more consistent with head position. OH is always slightly different with elevation. I do attest that to the shot break process and more tendency to break shots while moving in a certain direction or pattern. I was recently told about a podcast called High Power Hangout by JP. I have gained some knowledge from that. He mentions you at times. Thanks for making these videos. Hopefully see you next year at Wildcat Valley and Perry.
Good question. The difference could have been simply how I held my rifle between the two stages on that particular day. One problem is that this match was just one data point. If I shot a bunch of matches I may have seen the two zeros converge a little bit.
I never adjust parallax with the WOA scope. In fact, I prefer a fixed parallax scope to eliminate the possibility of the knob being moved accidentally. Both are good scopes and each has advantages. The WOA has the advantage of an etched reticle, but the Leupold has better detents in the knobs. I have shot good scores with both.

I attributed this to head/eye position and and the ability to hold exact position in each stage. But hey, I’m a new guy so what do I know 🤷🏻♂️

Is the cause of this parallax from the different positions?
I'm really confused as to why the 2 different prone positions were different clicks?

@@garymabis9810 you sent that reply to me not Konrad.

I see this happening but I still don't understand the "why" of it.
My guess is that it is caused by varying head position behind the rifle in the different positions.
What cartridge do you shoot.
Do you use match ammo
The cartridge is .223 Rem. I'm not sure what you mean by match ammo. The ammo is loaded from previously purchased components.
