My mother was German and I was born there also. My mother was a itty bitty person and even after 5 children had a 24 inch waist. Getting to the point she was a baker and did a lot of cakes with fruit based glass glaze. Main ingredient glycerin. She used glycerin and strwberries as a facial scrub. Then a product our Apothecary made in house with the main ingredient glycerin. She was an avid swimmer and used pure zinc oxide as a sunscreen. She never had an age spot, barely a wrinkle when she passed. When she was 59 people thought she was in her 30's. I follow the same regimen, I'm 67 and not embarrassed to say so.

My Korean grandmother has flawless skin. She ONLY uses glycerin and gently pats it on her face after rinsing with warm water. No sun tans, spf cream, surgeries, fillers, fancy creams, serums, or cleansers. She looks like she's been using retin a all her life. All she uses for make up is lipstick and Cody powder. Crazy that she has never been tempted to change her routine but it totally works for her.

I also keep a bottle of pure glycerine and a tiny dropper for when cream eye shadows dry out. 2 or 3 drops & a good mix & your shadow is good as new.

Vaseline intensive care advanced repair fragrance free body lotion. Cheap as chips and glycerine is second on the inci list. I love it as it works like magic on my eczema and doesn’t leave me feeling sticky and greasy like so many other creams. I find hylaronic acid a bit overrated - glycerine is so much better!

My grandmother used to put a glycerine cream on her hands thickly, pop on some cotton gloves, and go to bed. She had the softest hands!!! (and the most gentle caress, but don't all our grannies?) 😊 Great video, nadine, thank you! The supermodel example was spot on!

I am going to have to watch this a few times as there is so much information, thanks Nadine. Back in the 1960's when I was nurse training, my hands often became very sore. An old treatment was Glycerine and Rose water. Every night my hands were red and sore, I rubbed this cheap item on my them, didn't rinse off, and lo and behold in the morning, my hands were soft and calm. It used to be able to be bought in Boots for pennies back then.

So glad you did this video! Thank you so much for putting glycerin & it’s benefits at the forefront. I knew I (and my skin) loved it when I first started paying attention to skincare ingredients, and my favorite night cream (Olay’s Night of Olay Firming Cream) was loaded with glycerin. I love Olay Moisturizers, and this $6 Classic has been my favorite night cream for almost a decade (since I was 15 or 16?). It does have fragrance, and I tend to have sensitive/reactivate skin, but my skin loves it. I find it very similar to LRP Citaplast face cream without all the actives, as it calms & soothes my face while adding moisture (and the glycerin repairing the skin barrier.) Love your content Nadine (and the Beauty Hags!), much love and light to you from the US!

I think every skin care product I have except for my differin, has glycerin. I make my own facial spray with water and glycerin. Use it to prep skin for the rest of my skin care. I spray it on skin before I put a moisturizer on. My skin is no longer dry because of glycerin. I love the stuff. And it's so cheap at the drugstore to buy and easy to make up a batch of glycerin water.

I adore The Ordinary NMF. It's amazing. It's bizarre in it's texture. It's not wet, nor is it oily, it's just a kind of... cream balm, but even to say it's a balm would connote that it's heavy and occlusive. It's the perfect level of occlusion without being suffocating. Unfortunately, it irritates my skin. I'm not sure if that's normal.
With a moisturizer, what I yearn for is something that will soothe my skin, but funnily enough, the moisturizers I've tried have irritated my skin. It's bizarre because I'm using very strong acids, daily vitamin C, retinol, ferulic acid, dermaplaning weekly and dermarolling daily, and yet the only thing in my routine that burns in the NMF among other moisturizers.
I'm starting to question whether there's a common ingredient in moisturizers that I'm sensitive too.
As far as glycerin goes, I love it. I've recently made my own pre-serum hydrating rosewater glycerin toner (that goes after my acid toner). It helps me to spread serums around my face so I don't need as much and it provides a marked boost in hydration. My serums deplete much slower now that I have my glycerin toner.

Really enjoyed this video. Does this mean that the Cerave face moisturizers have enough HA,glycerine and ceramides that there is no need to use any of the others assuming you don’t have very dry skin? So you’d only use whatever actives you need and something with peptides in for a well balanced routine?

Thanks for the wonderful video. I'm using a colloidal oatmeal mask in the morning before shaving. It has lots of benefits, one being a superb way to soften beard hair. I'm going to try a version with glycerine. I bought a 500 ml bottle of food grade glycerine online. Ideally, the slip of my DIY mask enables me to shave it off.

I don't really get one things: almost every products have glycerin and in the list of ingredients comes just after water. usually the % is 5 gr per 100 gr of finished product. higher % makes the product usually sticky. so when you say that a product is packed with glycerin does the packing say the %? so far the one product that says it contains 15% is one from khiels. I have the impression that this video just shows some products and that's all.

Hello Nadine! Could you do a video on image skincare? It is marketed as a miracle range, super strong but all natural, plant based products... which seems a contradiction?? They are quite expensive also so not sure what to think. Can you help?

It's not that easy to find a skincare product *without* glycerine. One classic with heaps of glycerine is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. Another on gatherind dust in Swedish pharmacies is "ACO Glycerine, Alcohol and Rose Water". I use it for just about Everything.
You enabler you! I absentmindedly picked up a tube of that CeraVe SPF 25. They recently launched here and I obviously had to see what the fuss was about. I'm allready impressed with the Hydrating Cleanser!

great video, thank you for the information. Q. I have been layering my serums and cut out astral and other thick moisturisers I used to use, bought the hado labo from Amazon (love it), currently use the olay air whip as my other main moisturiser, but keep multi-peptides, hyaluronic acid, water essences, retinols, q10, vit c, etc in my routine, I also sometimes use the first aid beauty and QV from dermatologist when it is really bad, but I have seen great improvements in my dry skin following your advice, everywhere except my nose, it just keeps being dry and peeling, I wondered if it was maybe from blowing my nose or something, so I've monitored it and it definitely isn't enough to cause the dry skin there, any advice? xx

Kayleigh Kavanagh Beauty & Lifestyle where is the redness and peeling? Is it on top of your nose or down the outer nostril creases? And does it feel sore? It could be perioral dermatitis as you’re using a lot of actives. If it is you might need some Rosex Cream from your doctor x

Hi Nadine, absolutely loving your channel and getting all my skincare advice from it. Question though...... I'm 47 in September and luckily I have been blessed with really good skin but do have fine lines, and pigmentation. I gave up smoking in December and decided to really up my skincare regime. I want to start using Retinol after seeing good results from glycolic products. I have found a reputable source of retinol products from abroad that are brought back to the UK to sell on. Is Tretinoin the same as Retin A? It's all very confusing! It comes in a tube at 0.025% - 0.05% and 0.1%. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

I just tried the curel hydrating lotion and the Peter Thomas Roth water drench cleanser and one of those irritated my skin. Don’t know if it’s the elderberry in the cleanser or the eucalyptus in the curel lotion. I’m incredibly sensitive to vitamin c and citrus so I’m leaning towards the elderberry. I’ve been using lancer sensitive cleanser for two years and never had an issue with his line but he recently reformulated and cleanser is no longer what it was and now drys out my skin. Thoughts? Answers? Help? Lol

Both, under will slow the release into your skin and over will soothe it X
