Golden Globe winner Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) plays Samuel Beckett with young Beckett played by Fionn O’Shea (Normal People) in a sweeping account of the life of this 20th century icon. Parisian bon vivant, World War II resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, philandering husband and recluse, Samuel Beckett lived a life of many parts. In this playful film we see his life through his mistakes and fraught relationships with James Joyce (Aidan Gillen - Game Of Thrones), his wife Suzanne (Sandrine Bonnaire - Vagabond) and his lover Barbara Bray (Maxine Peake - The Theory of Everything).
The film is directed by BAFTA and Academy® Award winner James Marsh (The Theory of Everything) and written by BAFTA winner Neil Forsyth (Guilt).
A Sky Original film, releasing in cinemas from 3 November and on Sky Cinema in December.

Sorry but there's one mistake here. Ireland's greatest writter is JAMES JOYCE.

Great to see famous and successful actor Aidan Gillen in another iconic role.

Looks great (though the actor playing Joyce looks nothing like the pictures of Joyce; he looks almost opposite. Not that it matters)

Who's really gonna watch this? I mean, an English-speaking streaming original has global appealing, so why would any producer choose a no-one-knows-who character as Samuel Beckett? And what the heck were the producers thinking making a black-and-white movie? Look at the box-office numbers: the major public hates black- and-white movies!
