- CTV News' Michael Stittle and pollster Nik Nanos break down the latest data from Nanos Research showing the Conservative Party continue to gain steam - with Pierre Poilievre's approval numbers also on the rise.
The news isn't as rosy for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau however, Nik explains how some dismal polling seems to be sparking the question about what's next for the Liberal Party.
Then, the federal government has launched a 'rebrand' for the Climate Action Incentive Payment. It will now be known as the Canada Carbon Rebate, but will the average Canadian notice? Nik's not sure.
Finally, Nik's just got back from Washington, D.C. where the age of U.S. President Joe Biden and presumed GOP nominee Donald Trump is a big topic of conversation - but will it become an election issue?

The longer Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh stay on as leaders the better for the conservatives in the next election. They are both losers..
It doesn't matter who is leader of the NDP. They will never form a federal government and that's why they'll stoop to any level to be relevant in Parliament.
We cannot afford to wait for the scheduled election, and neither can the NDP. If the NDP want any hope in the future, they need to help defeat the government and bring an election now. And more important, Canadians cannot afford to keep this government in place now. It needs to go now.

Life long Liberal, wrote in Chretien on my ballot (apparently only soils it) so skipped the last election. But now I will vote conservative in protest. Because Trudeau destroyed my party and Canada will not survive another 4 years of Trudeau.

We would all love to see it. If that doesn't happen, there is absolutely zero justice in this country. If Trudeau walks free after what he's done it sends a message to anyone else that you can get away with corruption in Canada.
You’re sounding like a yankee wannabe. Canadian politicians don’t investigate anyone. That’s the job of the judiciary. The PMs job is in the Legislative branch, making laws. The Executive carries out the work of the Legislative while the judiciary interprets the laws. I suggest we all think long and hard if we wanted a system where the dear leader made the laws and executed them.

The federal government stops investing in new road infrastructure. They only care more drug and immigrant to Canada and not the down to earth infrastructure.

Changing the name of a tax, doesn't make any difference.
Canadians also want politicians who will give straight answers (no pun intended) when asked if trans men should be allowed to compete with women and girls in sports. I can't think of a single parent who thinks it's OK for 40 y/o men to compete in a 13 y/o girls swim match but this is exactly what happened recently in Toronto.
Honestly, if I was asked to take that survey I'd probably refuse or reply 'unsure' simply to make sure I'm not participating in ANYTHING that could give a hint to the liberals of what they're doing wrong, helping them course correct for their performative caring campaign, because I'm convinced there is nothing they can do at this point to help Canada besides getting out of the way and let Pierre and Conservatives get to work fixing it. If there is anyone else like me, who generally keeps their cards close to their chest... Pierre will see an unimaginable last-minute surge in support when it's time to vote.
