@Chris Clack But going according to his development and personality as a character is still important when referring to actions they've could've taken. Ash had plenty of opportunities to force pikachu evolve despite its objections, but yet he doesn't. Bulbasaur is also on the list of pokemon to refuse to evolve. If that were Paul, he would've tossed them long ago. In pokemon anime, it's clear that the pokemon can evolve by choice, not by how long you've been training it. Each of them evolved out of need, not just growth. Like how Charizard evolved just to get even with Aerodactyl or Talonflame evolved to save Ash. Maybe other trainers forced their pokemon to evolve because they urged them too, who's to say.

After watching Ash vs Leon fight, I am 100% sure that Ash's Pikachu is a fully evolved pokemon. I mean, let's consider those facts: 1) Ash's Pikachu always showed a lot of raw power and durability that often rivaled fully evolved pokemon. 2) Ash's Pikachu managed to face mega-Lucario in battle and win, and even challenge legendaries in 1vs1 combat. 3) In the final battle vs Leon, Pikachu got hit by a ground move by Cinderey, then fought against Giantmaxed Charizard and endured one giantmax attack head-on, then beat Cinderey when it and Pikachu both dynamaxed and hit each other with full power. Despite receiving so much damage and defeating a fully evolved pokemon, it still endured many attacks from Charizard and beat it with raw power in the final clash. Too many times Ash's Pikachu showed durability far above a mere 35 Hp and 40 defense base stat. So many times it showed durability and raw power surpassing a fully evolved pokemon. 4) It can giantmax, and correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Pikachu the only non-fully evolved pokemon that can giantmax? And in the game giantmax Pikachu is unable to evolve into Raichu. My theory is that Ash's Pikachu is a variant of Pikachu that can't evolve into Raichu, but has stats almost as high as a Raichu. Kind of like partner Pikachu whose base stats are 430 instead of 320. Basically, in exchange for being unable to evolve, it is far more powerful as Pichu and Pikachu than the average Pichu/Pikachu. So while Raichu is a little stronger, Ash's Pikachu in terms of base stat may be very close to Raichu, considering its feats. PS: I get that well trained non-evolved pokemon can defeat less-experienced fully evolved pokemon, but Pikachu defeated Leon's Cindarey and Charizard, the most experienced/powerful pokemon in the world, so no, experience and training aren't an excuse here. Ash's Pikachu can't evolve into Raichu because it is already fully evolved.
@Chris Clack As I recall, in the episode her Eevee first appeared in, it wasn't able to evolve when exposed to a fire or thunder stone, which it normally should with either of those into a Flareon or Jolteon respectively. Because of this, a major plot point was Eevee's inability to evolve that episode, but it was never explained why it couldn't (if I recall correctly)
Pikachu can't evolve since it could affect The Pokemon Company revenue. The rest of Ash unevolved team on this list is anime writers biggest opportunities.
@@genericben10fanboyI doubt it lol, Ash is leaving now so no point to making him stay a Pikachu anymore. Pikachu evolving shows how mature and how much development it went through.

Pokemon that I will agree should have evolved Bulbasaur: In the last episode in journeys you will see a Venasaur in the backround while Ash is battling somone so I think he should have had a Bulbasaur as a starter and not pikachu. Even though he did not evolve he should have. Pignite: He was kinda good and if he was an Emboar, he would be very good.
Lay are God dam fictional characters who is always shocked and or surprised when there pokemons evolve on the pokemon anime and i learned my lesson un like some that some of Ash Ketchum pokemons has no desire to evolve at all on the pokemon anime
I agree with these takes. Venusaur would've been a cool Pokemon to see Ash own, and as mentioned in the video, if it's already so strong as just a Bulbasaur, just think how much much powerful it could've gotten had it evolved even once, but instead they let May's Bulbasaur evolve, even though it was only on-screen for a single frame during the Wallace Cup. As for Pignite, I simply think it would've been a lot cooler as an Emboar, and I kinda think that part of the reason why the Tepig line isn't more popular is because Ash's stopped at Pignite, it's least attractive looking stage
*Gets handed a mysterious paper* Oh... Apparently, someone at Oak's Lab has been wanting Bayleef to evolve for the longest time... Hmm... I wonder why...
I'm so tired of pikachu like I wanted to see another pokemon in the spotlight yk?And it's worse because I like raichu 100× more than pikachu. Especially his design
Me: Raichu is weaker then pikachu anyway especially with stats of losing both its speed & agility My Pikachu: And I can fit though small spaces My Rioul ( Taichi ): especially when the best part is it was Kaholo ( Ash's Pikachu himself ) that defeated Leon & his Charizard in the finale and re wrote history
Raichu is actually faster than Pikachu, and in games, Raichu has 20 more speed in speed stats. Just because Ash's Pikachu likes to utilize his speed while many Raichu trainers forget the importance of speed in favor of raw power gives Raichu a bad name. Also, sure, one can argue that bigger Raichu is less agile and easier to hit, but in pokemon, massive creatures like Onyx and other giant pokemon have no trouble evading attacks, so do size really matters? I think not.
@@daniellee773 Personally, I don't think evolving pokemon too early should hinder its speed for the rest of its life, but rather it should be something a pokemon/trainer can fix with proper training. Even in the game pokemon that evolved by stone were hindered by having horrible move-pool, to force players to evolve it at a high level or suffer bad moves until they get proper TM's. But in modern games, getting better attacks on stone-evolved pokemon becomes easier and easier. I think it is reflected in the anime. In season 1 they made an excuse why evolving pokemon with stone too early can backfire. But everything should be fixable with proper training. Lt.Surge just relies on raw power so he never bothered to work on Raichu's speed, and it is a colossal mistake considering that speed is Raichu's most important stat. Raichu must be fast and agile, or else it will be outmatched by other fully evolved pokemon.
@@daniellee773 On a side note, I have a theory that Ash's Pikachu is already a fully evolved pokemon, kind of like partner Pikachu that has 430 base stat instead of 320. It can't evolve into Raichu, but in return, it is almost as powerful as one, which is why it achieved so many hard-earned victories. I don't buy that a pokemon with 35 base hp and 40 base defense can endure so many attacks, even with plot armor. It just doesn't make sense.
I KNEW ROWLET WAS HERE!! but i think rowlet doesn't want to evolve so that it still can fit in ash`s bag cuz if rowlet evolves into decidueye he wont fit anymore and wont have the sleepy trait we love about rowlet so he swallowed up an everstone so he wont evolve
That's such a BS reason. Bulbapedia even confirmed it's not against evolving so it had zero excuses not to That sack of feathers needed to get a backbone and real battling instinct cos laziness is a trait that shouldn't be tolerated in battle
Decidueye is my favourite pokemon so if Ash had one it would of been lit, feel like it was given a bad name since rowlet refused to become it and beat it. Also need to mention that Dartrix is one of the better mid-stage starters, huge improvement from Quilladin in the generation before
I feel like you pretty much got everything except for ashes Corphish i liked its personality but I think it could have been water Charizard like how its personality changed as it evolved like from happy then to depressed because it doesn't know how to control his body then happy again. Kinda like how some people wanted turtwig to be. but then again the pokemon anime doesn't want ash to have a dark type for some reason.
The problem with these Pokemon evolving is that they would lose their personalities. Venusaur taking care of the Pokemon at Oak's lad feels odd. Snivy evolving all the way into a Serperior also feels off base if it evolves. I can agree with Pignite to evolve, I guess maybe Scraggy, but it would lose its cutest. A lot of these never need to evolve. Just because they can evolve, doesn't mean they should
I disagree, I think that Venusaur taking care of the Pokemon at Oak's lab would be fitting, especially since it could better protect them if need be with it's greater strength
It already confirm that thiere characterlistic will change when they evolved look at charizard that not obey him and once made him lose the first tournament. The younger form is weaker but suit with ash more as he not an agreesive trainer like other did to win. if he live in Digimon verse he would be a strongest Digitamer who had bond with his digimon and made his digimon stronger as he care about them more than winning. Pokemon verse was still a slave as alway and bond dont help the fight as Bond power dont exist in pokemon verse.
I was honestly fooled with the last part. You got me. While Pikachu evolving would be cool, cause Pikachu is a freaking powerhouse in his mid-stage form, imagine it as a Raichu, it just wouldn't line up with marketing and lore. Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon. It wouldn't make sense for Ash's Pikachu to evolve anywhere in the anime, and Pikachu has been confirmed to Gigantamax, which, in the lore of Sword and Shield, means Pikachu *can't* evolve unless it loses its Gigantamax Factor through Max Soup. And let's be honest, Ash probably won't give that up, even if he rarely uses it.
Plus, to anyone who says that the anime logic and game logic don't correlate. It only doesn't in *some* areas. Because we haven't seen it happen in the anime, we don't *know* whether or not this actually applies in this area. But since the anime's been getting closer and closer to the games, and Dynamax usually only ends when a Pokemon either uses three moves or is fainted in the anime, I'm going to say that it would more than likely apply.

Ash's Pikachu also don't want to evolve since every raichu he ever met was highly arrogant, selfish and egocentric. Pikachu didn't want to be like that since most pokemon in anime change their nature/personality after evolving. We can see that with Ash's charizard (but could be due he's technically traded pokemon and was overleveled) He went from always happy obedient charmander to quite selfish, arrogant charizard who didn't saw Ash as his worthy trainer, until fight with Poliwrath, where he starts to listen Ash' s commands.

I mean, let's consider those facts:
1) Ash's Pikachu always showed a lot of raw power and durability that often rivaled fully evolved pokemon.
Eevee and Meowth also Gigantamaxx, however once they no longer have the ability to evolve.

But Ash's journey will end so Pikachu will not be the mascot anymore. I believe evolving at the end may be a good way to say goodbye.

I'm so tired of pikachu like I wanted to see another pokemon in the spotlight yk?And it's worse because I like raichu 100× more than pikachu. Especially his design
Me: Raichu is weaker then pikachu anyway especially with stats of losing both its speed & agility
My Pikachu: And I can fit though small spaces
My Rioul ( Taichi ): especially when the best part is it was Kaholo ( Ash's Pikachu himself ) that defeated Leon & his Charizard in the finale and re wrote history
Raichu may be slower than Pikachu but considering how much Pikachu trained and utilized its speed, it may keep it when it becomes raichu.
@@kmpgos4158 Well in the anime, whether Raichu is faster depends on when it evolves. Lt. Surge evolved his Pikachu too early that it was slow.
