Long time listener, first time caller. Just wanted to say you are very informative and funny. I also liked that you really stressed safety when working with fiberglass. Great channel keep up the good content!
Thank you soo much for the very informative and clear instructions on these videos! I sure hope to see many more from you soon. Again Cheers! Much appreciated
Thanks we will be offering many more, Reviews, Wood builds, More fiberglass and try to keep it as informative as we can. If we miss something just ask us and we will answer for you. Thanks again for subscribing.
This is an old video but I have a question - do you wait for the fiberglass resin to harden between coats or do you put them on wet? If the resin does harden, do you have to sand it between coats!?!? Also, when I have mixed a larger cup of resin, it hardens faster and I end up wasting a lot. Is there a trick to mixing a lot of resin for a larger project?
Yes I let it harden between coats. But now days I use a UV cure reasin which allows me to set it up completly indoors and step out into the sun when its just the way I want it and it all cures at 1 time.
You are making good videos, but you should consider turning off the music so we are able to hear YOU, cause that’s what we watch your videos for. Keep up the good work thank you 🙏🏻
Awesome we will have a build of one coming up. You may want to check out the other video we posted , we just did one. shows the work that goes into one, It is a wood one but I think it might give you some ideas.
do u have and clips on just all the stuff you should buy to make a boxs. pretty much a list of tools and products you should buy to make a boxs. cause im thinking about making a boxs for my 1978 cj5 jeep. to insall 4 6.5 doorspeakers on my roll bar
I can give you a list but Ill make sure to get that in a future fiberglass video. Youll want Resin, Fiberglass Cloth and or Fiberglass Mat. Some MDF Rings, MDF sheet 1/2 inch. A stretchable fabric or fiberglass fleece. Paint brushes ( Cheap nothing to costly as they are disposed) Acetone for cleanup and keeping brushes soft until your ready to disgard them. That would be the main list on the table if I were to do that project. I would recommend baby powder spread on your arms to stop the fiberglass from entering your pores and itching. Also a resporatior and gloves.
+Random Audio Guy ok txs yea if u ever have time to make a list of everything i should need to do it email at xzombieswatteamx@gmail.com when ever you have the time.
Hey Random,Just got the spare tire well done.Only the bottom and half the sides got glassed.I used 1.5oz mat and did 3 layers. As I said the majority of the box is wood and the floor that is glassed is only 13 inches deep with lots of curvature. All of this work and now I'm worried that the subs won't sound good.Do you think I used enough mat?
Random Audio Guy I actually did 2 more layers(5 total).I'm going to check it for flex and probably add a bottom center brace to stiffen the whole thing up.
I use Sun Cure resin, The reason I like it is because you do not have to mix it, You just use it and when your ready to setup you put it outside in the sun for a few minutes and its done.
Hey man so I wanna make certain, you mixed the hardener with the resin before painting any at all on right??? Once while attempting this my resin was hardening before I got done painting it on, what's the solution to that problem? Use less hardener?
@@RandomAudioGuys where can I order this at I'm doing like 6 doors a center console that leads into a sub box and some kick panels and what not I appreciate all the infor on it and thanks for your time..Niko
i have two questions. 1.what kind off resin is that. I heard you say you don't need to add hardener. 2.Can it be use on any type of fiberglass material
paa kwesi and 2 answers. it is called a uv cure resin. and yes it is usable in any product that you can get uv light to. we have uv lamps for working inside vehicles so we're able to use it anywhere. if it's a spot that you cannot get to then you can use a harder in it and it will react as a normal resin.
Most any light will put out UV, But there are a ton of options, And it will all depend on where you are working, We keep small and large lights to do these projects.I would hit Google and start looking for UV lights for curing resin, you will see a lot of choices.
Well you can use a catalyst in it ( Hardener ) to make sure it sets up. Its just a Resin where the UV Rays from the sun or any UV Source can work as a natural really fast hardener. Other than that its the same as any other resin.
I use a few different types, There is fiberglass fleecing, nylons , and other fabrics, go to your close out section of a big box retailer that sales fabric, find something that stretches at least 20% in 1 direction.
I use a Canon HF R600 and the mic I used in these videos I no longer use because I needed wireless so I went with the Sony ECMAW4 its a wireless mic but it works with Bluetooth connection instead of standard RF Transmission. Because its digital its either on or off no static in between. No special setup just a camcorder and a mic.
Well if you notice I did not resin the entire area the sub sit in. I left soft spots and I cut it out then ran a router around it, Once I cut that little area out I removed the screws and I apoligize for not having that in the video. You will see alot more advance and higher quality builds. That was our first build for the channel and It seems the fiberglass is what people want to see so we will be bringing it to the channel and also will be doing extended cuts for those that want more information. Sadly I have had as much as 20 hours of footage on 1 video that I had to compress down to 20 minutes so we are taking this feed back and learning from our editing mistakes and will try to make sure all the details are there, very much like the new console video we did. Its missing alot but it is still 18 minutes long and we learned. We will have a better channel just keep tuned. And ask any questions if we missed something, we will happily answer them.
The resin sets up hard as a brick. When you put resin the fabric it soaks through to the wood binding the 2 together. Typically on larger enclosures you would go around the backside of the rings with reinforcement fiberglass.
I'd tell you the name but at this point I'd just assume you kiss my arse. You took the time to make a stupid post instead of just saying hey care to pin the resin brand. So I'm taking the time to write one back that has no informative information regarding what brand was used.
Yeah, This was our introductory to youtube. We have more videos on the way that will be showing the different stages. I have learned alot from what people want to see and we will be showing it int he videos. Also alot has to do with time frame, like people watch an average of 4 minutes of a 20 minute video. But in the future builds you will see we have listened to the feed back. Appreciate the comment and hope you stick around to the channel. Been awhile but we have 3 videos about to pop up soon on the channel.
Dude u forgot to show what u doing from the beginning ? Sad to see a video ware people can't see a backboard or the back of nothing but atleast the sound is perfect . U just have to show more of what u doing ....
@@RandomAudioGuys I don't meant to sound bad but what I mean is only that beginning part not the hole video plus I don't put thumps down cause it not about the video is so u can take it look at it. But I keep looking at the video to the end and it good ?
Nah, I mean it's obviously time scretched or pitched up / down with horribly encoding technique, it's pretty painful to listen to for an OCD guy like me who is also a sound technician
+JackCarver10 yeah I feel ya. Was worried about the usage rights when I started now that I'm learning a bit more I try to use a more neutral music. And keep it turned down a bit more. I'll get the video editing down better. Got some more Fiberglass coming soon for the channel.
I'm loving it....you got a great channel going

thanks buddy. That was a quick response. I'm building a center console and i am thinking of fiberglass

Random Audio Guy The fabric used is called I was not listening, not Thailand. I read English
Polyester Fleece
Thank you for your help.
what is the name of the material that you used to stretch over the wood
I gotta remind ya , again you a boss 😎 thanks
Well damn! Never thought to use a flush trim bit and router to recut the speaker holes after the resin sets up.
WOW This stuff is COOL
try to apply the fiberglass from the inside of the enclosure, makes for a cleaner sanding
Thank you for the informative video!
cloth (wovin roving) is stronger than chop strand, chop strand is more cosmetic

3 layers seems pretty thing if its a hefty subwoofer.

How did you remove the wood inside?
Thanks for the videos.
Crazy technique

I use UV Resin, Should have a link in the description.
@@RandomAudioGuys thank you so much!!!
How are u what type of fabric
so that rsin your using already has the hardner mixed into it?
In a way you could say that. Its activated by UV light instead of mix9ng a hardener catalyst like typical resins.

Would flow coat or gel coat not be better for smoothing/ sealing before filler?
where can I order the same resin your using in this video I'd appreciate the infor where to order it at thank you
Fiberglass Supply with a dot com :)
Hey what is your video set up mic
and camera? and how do you have it all set up?

How much resin you need for a project like this?
About half gallon should do a project like this. Or less.
Thank you brother
The fabric used is called I was not listening, not Thailand. I read English
๋ธนกร ศรีสมวงษ ์ fleece
Cloth fiberglass is stronger than chop mat....chop is for molding, you got it backwards
Thanks for the clarification.
How did you remove the 2 screws with the cloth covering them?
The screws holding the 2x4 that was holding the rings up ?
Yes those screws

color of resin reminds me of grade school this stuff they called swish n spit lol
How did u get the speaker rings to stay in after u pulled the other wood out😂😂 seriously
The resin sets up hard as a brick. When you put resin the fabric it soaks through to the wood binding the 2 together. Typically on larger enclosures you would go around the backside of the rings with reinforcement fiberglass.
Random Audio Guy what about the screw I saw you put in it?
where do I find fiberglass sheets??
Fiberglasssupply with a dot com. Also your local automotive spots like AutoZone and Advandce autopart store.
The name of the resin would be great to know instead of just holding wobbly in front of camera.
I'd tell you the name but at this point I'd just assume you kiss my arse.
You took the time to make a stupid post instead of just saying hey care to pin the resin brand. So I'm taking the time to write one back that has no informative information regarding what brand was used.
Damn the volume between part 1 and 2 blew me away.
Sorry, it's an old video and my first so I was learning how to edit.
The music in the background ruined the entire video.
I liked it. But then again I'm not a Debbie Downer.
you didnt show hiw to layer

The background music made me turn the volume off
Now just change the shitty music to something bearable and this would be really good
I'm on it. let me call Snoop Dog and get him to drop me a track real quick for the new videos.

awww yeah, it's highly appreciated, because you're doing really well.
Note that the dislike did not come from me. :D
Created alot more finish work by not adding more fiberglass from the inside 😂😂
Why the hell would you make a How-to fiberglass video without showing you putting the fiberglass on?!?! Dude. Wow ok. bye.
Comment noted, When I film the new videos Ill make sure to edit that stage in for you. If you don't come back Ill go ahead and say it. BYE FELICIA!
I totally agree. You would think the title "How to fiberglass speaker boxes" would actually show "how to fiberglass speaker boxes".
If you don't know how to lay fiberglass then why are you watching this video?
troy barnhouse the title says it all ..HOW TO FIBERGLASS A SPEAKER BOX .....they are clearly here to learn how to do just that
That's the main reason why I disliked it the main steps where not shown basically just showed how to frame it that's all
Good video minus that shit music in the background.
too much yappin and not enough action
That music is cringy af
What the hell is wrong with your music??
