    Beautiful Tara! Thank you for inviting Alfie to play for your amazing wedding!
    When he was younger Alfie had many intense obsessions which took over his life (Michael Jackson songs, rollercoasters & a stint as a magician to name a few 😂) but when he found music, in particular piano he finally found his home. With music in his life he is a happy boy and he uses it so much in his life to help him in many aspects.
    His determination to succeed and be the best he can be absolutely astounds me and he easily passes his music grading exams with a view to getting a grade 8 which is the one he has his sights set on!
    For a long time we worried about how he would cope as he grows older but I can honestly say that he is doing just fine as long as he has his music he overcomes the hardest days and we do all we can to make things good 😊

    I have a nephew he is 7 he didn't start talking till he was 4. We thought he's going deaf doctors kept checking his ears over and over and over again. No one said he has autism till he was 7 and figured out ourselves. It's so hard. I cry with every word you say. We feel so helpless I live in the country where autism is not acknowledged. He is 7 and not going to school because schools don't think he is normal there's no specific school for autistic children and if there are they are ridiculously expensive. I learned a lot from your videos and I see hope. The hope nobody gave us. You are special. I pray for your boy 🙏 and you .. bless you

    I just discovered your channel and I'm amazed by all this. Congrats on your marriage and it's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks Autism isn't a disability per se but something that can show great potential in those with the diagnosis. Myself being an autistic young adult nearing my 20's, I totally get the struggles of being as such but it's always great to celebrate the little progressions made with autistic individuals.
    Alfie and Dylan did absolutely amazing in their own ways! Cannot wait to see more progress as life goes on.

    It depends what level of Autism I think depends on the person the problem with not seeing it as a disability is that when someone with severe Autism is diagnosed (like my son) it means they struggle to get the help they need. Yes I have had wins, but he has little understanding of danger, world around him etc.

      i totally agree. Dylan needs a lot of help and i know a lot of other children need a lot more help than Dylan. Autism is not easy and the more we educate the more we grow and learn that we can get help that they need. thank you for taking the time to comment and sending you lots of love x

      Frances Ottewill please don’t listen to the below comment I have blocked them. I want this to be a channel where everyone can be supportive and talk openly but with respect. not spoken to like that. Your absolutely right in what you say it’s very hard and there are different levels of autism. It’s a spectrum. I do find that the no awareness for danger very scary. Luca and Dylan are both not aware and it scares me so much. Sending you so much love x

    I was recently diagnosed with Autism just over a year ago, along with a strong dose of Adhd and lastly Dyslexia (which we'd known about). At 38, it's quite alot to take in but I understand more why things seemed to be implausible to me but just what people did for the rest of the world. I can tell you as an adult my mother went through many of the struggles you are facing, and unfortunately she wasn't armed with the knowledge that her child is unique she just had to take what I said or did which can feel very cold and isolating. I can tell you the barriers of the stimuli embedded in your 'valid' requests would have been too much for me. Sand, simply would not have done between my feet or in my socks the photos you would have received would have reflected my disgust as I involuntarily imagine my feet eroding away with every step. Rows of people lined up all looking directly at Me/Dillion because I am an extension both physically and figuratively of you, simply no. And lastly, photos themselves feel as though they rob me of something only present in real life (I can't explain it), but it is difficult for me much like Ros, to feel truly relaxed while being filmed. No. All of these my mother would have NO idea why she'd never experience them with me, was she not tender enough, did she do something wrong?
    I tell you this to let give you the perspective of Dillon in 20 years. We see what we can't do, we notice but it doesn't mean we don't love you we just need a different way to show you than the ways that can be so 'public' at times. Love your channel. Wonderful insight, it's helping me learn about myself.

    As an Aspie I am proud of Alfie and wish him happiness and success in life. In many areas Autistic people are exceptionally skilled and just want to contribute their talents to society and live a life with minimal suffering while coping with the condition. I hope neurotypical society makes this possible. Throughout history the Autistic neurotype made important contributions showing itself in the works of Einstein, Beethoven, Mozart, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Michael Jackson and many others.

    • @Theaksten
      @Theaksten 4 роки тому

      @@ComingHometoAutism I understand two different paradigms of disability that many in the disability community stand by. The first is to let go of your weaknesses and not let them define you. Frozen's Let it go is inspirational to many with disabilities.
      The second is to not let others define you by your weaknesses. In this case, disability is society's lack of adequate access to community resources for those who have abilities different from the majority.
      For example, ASD often involves significant social challenges. Social skills are often the key for entry to and success in the workplace. While some employers, like Microsoft, are spearheading initiatives to get more people with ASD into its workforce, most employers simply don't bother to provide accommodations.
      At most, one in six people with ASD are employed, because ASD is not a protected status under US law, albeit the possibility for people with ASD to apply for disability status. Consequently, employers are able to discriminate against the majority of ASD candidates and employees without legal repercussions.
