My husband was so intimidated by the thought of mangling beautiful wrapping paper that he started saving some newspapers and using them instead. But over the years, he has turned it into an incredible art form, complete with handmade newspaper bows and ribbons. They're great!
Once put my then boyfriends gift on the shelf without wrapping and just said he is norlt allowed to touch it. 3 weeks before christmas :D did not actually hope for him to wait, but he did :D
@Marie Welch Books-A-Million sucks. Can't use the restroom there account sexual activity. I needed a poetry anthology as a gift, found none, manager said, "Poetry doesn't sell." Duh! Can't sell what you don't stock.

Depends on the person I'm giving them to. If its someone I know well a gift card is basically saying "I don't care about you" but for someone I hardly know it's acceptable.
@@ItsaSouthernThing What's the point of gift cards? It's a fancy, plastic form of money you can only use at one store. Give plain money, it can be used anywhere. There are two types of people in this world. People who can make a gift look nice even if its wrapped in newspaper, and people who just throw it in a bag and tape it shut.
Maggie Obersat That’s a family tradition! My sisters gift to my Mom was in a Yard Light box. She hates yard lights... Don’t remember what was inside, but it wasn’t a yard light!
I'm bad at decorating, shopping and cooking. My sisters are excellent at all of that. So I just go to their houses for the holidays. My gifts are usually their favorite candy and cash in a card. 🎄❤
We have a Governor Winthrop secretary desk just like the one in the background at 01:40. My parents bought it sometime in the mid-50s and I inherited it on their passing. For some reason, that desk really means a lot to me.
Love your shows. Please don't ever stop making them. A lot of them reminds me of when I was a kid. Mom and Dad made Christmas so special. Hope you have a special Christmas this year.
Aaaah, that last one. When I was a kid my parents managed to convince me that batteries were these awfully expensive things that needed to be used sparingly and almost never replaced (it's batteries or food this week, honey), so I would actually voluntarily remove the batteries from my toys and only put them back in for a few minutes at a time. Funny how the batteries that went in clocks, remotes, radios and other appliances were actually much cheaper to replace, despite looking identical to the ones that went in my toys.
LeeLee 34, I liked it better back in the ‘90s when a person could get a job there just being a bookseller-no individual sales goals. Made for a fun summer job back in those days.
Always gift the noisy and obnoxious toys to the nieces and nephews. This way you are tormenting your siblings at the same time reaffirming that you are the cool aunt or uncle!!!! hahahahah
Four weeks? Nah, the Christmas shopping begins with the first white sale in January. The only reason to shop after September is for the sudden new girlfriend of one of the grandkids or a cousin whom you haven't seen in five years announces he will be coming to Christmas dinner at your house. Decorating begins four weeks before Christmas.
No 'xmas' in our house....(plenty of food, friends, music, wine and gifts throughout the year though😄)....but very well portrayed folks! Just too darned true !
Conversation with my mother earlier today: Me: I hate Christmas shopping! Mom: Ohh... Me: Yeah I hate all the lines and the traffic. Humans. Mom: You're just going to buy gift cards anyways. Me: ... Yeah.
Speaking on behalf of men around the world, the gift wrapping is spot on!!! My mom was Talia-always nice and neat and perfect. On the other hand, if my family gets a decently-wrapped present from me, they’ll know that I didn’t wrap it, and will be disappointed.
I get started on my shopping in October. I pay the PG&E in my house, and I have had too many Christmas’ ruined because I didn’t have the funds to get anything.
If this was a true "Southern Thing" you would have shown him cutting the grass before putting up the Christmas yard decorations....hmm...that reminds me...I need to cut my grass!
My best gift wrapping is brown groceries bags from Publix ( yes they still have them) a Sharpe and a stapler. And done. If you cut yourself on the staple, remember nothing is truly free in this world; everything exacts a price. Merry Christmas God Bless everyone and their families at It's a Southern Thing
I swear I’m 17 and I still don’t know how to wrap a present right lol. I’ll just get an empty gift bag and put the gift in there then throw some sheet paper lol.
I used to be done in October, all wrapped and hidden. One year my son opened all his gifts that were under the tree and it took me until afternoon to remember his asked-for gift (Paddington bear) was hidden away on the top closet shelf.
Et tu brutus as in I start throughout the whole year! But, let us note that I lost a present! I never found it and it was one hundred dollars 💵! Please it wasn’t pretty!
BAM! That's where I'm starting to get my books at now.And it's a great bookstore! Has everything from books to some favorite merch of fandoms and such!😍 Yes I am a bit of a nerd sometimes...
Unless he has put a ring on her finger I don't think he ranks a gift form grandpa. He MAY should git you one but you to him?? Guess it depends on how long he has been the boyfriend.
I'm usually very organised 😂 this year I'm painfully aware it's two weeks till Christmas and for now I have only ordered personalised Christmas tree decorations for people close to me and family pets-small personalised gifts. They should be delivered soon. My first chanche to do the real Christmas shopping will be only this weekend :/ at least I found some nice wrapping papers, bows and ribbons at the local supermarket yesterday. I changed jobs recently, new schedule is crazy, not much spare time...
My dad is the worst at hiding presents, he just always keeps them in his car until the individual isn’t at home. But he is THE best at wrapping presents 😂
Thanks, Guys. Always some fun videos. Perhaps this can add to your fun: Tomorrow (Wednesday, the 12th) is National Gingerbread House Day, National Cocoa Day and National Poinsettia Day. Happy Celebrating! And, continuing Advent Blessings...

That is so sweet! I hope his confidence is better now.
😊
That re- purposed Happy Birthday bag! LOL LOL LOL!!!
IKR!!!😂🤣😂
THAT made me LOL. I have had it done to me before without the Happy Birthday scratched out - that's what made it super funny :-D
Laura Seiden Once, I had to reuse a Happy Birthday gift bag for Christmas, so I wrote "Jesus" on it. 😬😅
@@AllezVous222 Nice one !
I get handed the bag my husband bought the stuff in. Lucky her.
Bookstores are so underrated best places to shop for Christmas presents. I love going into in winter and just like sitting and reading it's so cozy!
I haven't been to a Books-A-Million since I moved from Alabama. Great store! Also I can totally relate to how Adam hides presents 😂😂😂
Once put my then boyfriends gift on the shelf without wrapping and just said he is norlt allowed to touch it. 3 weeks before christmas :D did not actually hope for him to wait, but he did :D
They closed ours here. We still have B&N.

These short videos make my day.
What if you're watching at night?
Gertrude never really thought about that ....

The wrapping presents is like Expectation vs. Reality!!!!
Exfuckingactly
You should do a back porch bickering on gift card givers vs. anti gift carders.
Good idea! Which one are you?

Adam is seriously me hiding and wrapping presents! I’m so bad at it 😂
That's basically Adam in real life too. 😂
No no no I'm worsr
I buy gifts, hide them & find them next year 😂
@Sadie S: I happen to be rather good at hiding presents, but usually forget from one or two where i left them.
I hate wrapping I'm soooooo happy to put everything in a gift bag
Love the Christmas list book fully organized and everything!!!!!
So funny...and so true...I am wrapping impaired, i just use bags...🤷♂️😂
Nah, that ain't true. Customers don't leave a store that neat and tidy. They mess up the whole store before picking up a toy for their kid 😂😂😂
You must be a fellow retail worker!! 😂
@@rwright3998 yup lol
There’s my fellow retail worker.
That moment when you see everything they touched in a return basket.......😐😑
Not if they have even one considerate bone in their bodies. Unfortunately, most people are NOT considerate at all.
I would love to see a behind the scenes video for one of your projects like this!!!
Y 'all nail it week after week! This is accurate as it gets in my house!
Nailed it!! The wrapping paper is so true. However 4 days is a little early for me to Christmas shop. Dec. 24 is pretty standard.
Adam, that is SOOOOOOOO me, thanks for the laugh, I really needed it today. :)
There are two types of people in this world. People who can make a gift look nice even if its wrapped in newspaper, and people who just throw it in a bag and tape it shut.
And then there's the older brothers who simply wrap the gift in duct tape.
I cracked up at the blowup part!!!! Ha Ha!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My parents could have filmed this episode, and there wouldn't have been a SINGLE difference!!!😂
OK, what I am getting out of this, is that we just need to send the gift to Talia to be wrapped, correct? :) LOL
Bazinga_X You laugh, but I’ve wrapped my own gift.
"Wrapping" Soo true!!! 😂
I love it!!!!
Also my dude go and get them presents wrapped by a professional, a grandma!
That's solid advice!
Thanks!
And then it takes me ten years to even rip the paper open. But I wouldn’t rip cos you can always use the paper for something else later on.
The Christmas list difference, I RELATE SO BAD
LOL! My dad is like that. Find old box or container of something totally random and put it in there. Don't wrap it up; put it in a newspaper.

So do we! 🤣
Except our roles are reversed!!
Great video! Merry Christmas y'all! 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️🎅😇🌲
Love it.... word up get the el cheapo DG batteries they last the shortest
The wrapping gifts made me laugh. So true in my family.
Not at all realistic--real men don't start Christmas shopping until 4:45pm on Christmas Eve.
At the convenience store, lol.
Was thinking it should be 4 hours till xmas lol

Ah... christmas in the before times. When you could shop without a mask, and touch all the things!
I watch this one over and over again, because the music really cracks me up...lol

Represent on the gift wrapping Kevin/Adam! Glad I'm not the only one that does that or the 4 days before Christmas shopping.
Thank God for gift cards I love the restaurant ones after cooking and cleaning I'm ready to go out and eat need a break after all the hoopla
Your crazy humor is very much appreciated during this man-made pandemic. I loved the WOMAN playing with the toys. You had the gift wrapping correct.

I’m the binder for my list. But my list is for all year long, ie anniversary, birthday, Valentine’s Day. It just makes it easy.
