Thank you so much for watching and for reaching out with your question! 😊 Yes, if you're just attaching the suspension rail to wood, 1 1/2" screws should work great! I originally wanted to use 2", but at the time I had 2 1/2" screws on hand, so that's what I used in the video. You can check out all the materials and tools I used through my Amazon affiliate link 👉🏼 amzn.to/3rRZF9z. Thanks again for your support, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions!
Great video! Question: I have 2x 3 wide Besta cabinets I want to mount in a line of 6. (basically 2 of the 3 wide TV cabinets). Would you wood screw them together first before hanging them? And do the rails attach together all the way across or just 2 at a time?
Thank you so much for watching and for reaching out with your questions! 😊 Mounting the Cabinets: IKEA recommends hanging one Besta frame at a time. I followed their lead when hanging my uppers. I hung up the double-cabinet, single, and double-cabinet frames individually and then lined them up. You can see the hyper lapse at 4:00. During troubleshooting 4:25, when my unit wasn't aligning perfectly, I screwed them together to get them aligned. This should be a last resort. Hanging one (3-unit) frame at a time is safer due to the weight and offers more wiggle room for adjustments than screwing the units together beforehand. Suspension Rails: When I ordered my Besta unit, it came with suspension rails. They are sold as single rails but include attachments to link multiple units. You can see me clip the attachment to the single cabinet suspension rails at 1:26. If you haven't ordered your unit yet, I'd recommend ordering it with an IKEA representative via phone or in-store to ensure you get all necessary hardware. If you already have your Besta unit, contact IKEA or visit their customer service counter for the connectors to hang your cabinet. It seems you can connect as many suspension rails as needed for your design, but it's not always necessary; it just makes the install easier. I hope this helps answer your questions! Feel free to reach out if you need more assistance. Good luck with your project! 🛠️✨
Thanks for the absolute best help for installing Bestas! One challenge I face is the gap (distance) between rails when hanging two cabinets? I don't see that number in the IKEA material (which is pretty limited material). What distance between 2 rails when hanging 2 cabinets? Thanks in advance!
Hey, thank you so much for watching for and reaching out! I wish I had the exact measurement, but I stuck to IKEA's guidelines, installing one Besta frame before moving to the next suspension rail. This video was awesome, thank you so much for the detailed instructions. is there a suggested adjustment for mounting over the top of a thick chair rail or half inch moulding?
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful. For mounting over a thick chair rail or half-inch molding, you might need to use spacers to ensure the your unit will sit flush with the wall. Alternatively, you could install a backing board above the chair rail to create an even surface for mounting. I hope I understood your question. Thank you for watching and for your question! Yes, you can drill a hole in an IKEA Besta unit to run cords through. For our Besta unit, we found that the cardboard backing was thin enough to drill a hole for running cords. Just take your time and ensure you're drilling in a spot that won't affect the unit's stability. If you're unsure, it might be helpful to refer to ask Ikea Customer service or seek advice from a professional.
@@KimagineDIY I am the professional 😎 lol. Thanks for the fast response. I'm going to go ahead and go with the 3 door one. Since it comes with the spot for cords on top. Your video gave me so many more ideas.

I see the bottom of your bookshelf is up against baseboard so assuming there's a gap between it and the wall. Does the suspension rail push the single cabinets away from the wall the same distance?
That's a fantastic question! The suspension rail is cleverly designed to make the upper cabinet sit perfectly flush against the wall. Now, when it comes to the base cabinet and its interaction with the baseboard, it can push it out by about half an inch. But here's a little trick: I simply use the feet adjustment on the base cabinet to tilt it back slightly, and voilà, it aligns beautifully with the upper cabinets. I hope this clears things up for you! Thanks a bunch for tuning in and reaching out - your engagement is much appreciated! 😄🏡🔧
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! 😊 While I believe in the magic of DIY, it's important to note that suspending furniture involves careful consideration of engineering, weight, and structure. The plastic clips for Suspension rails are typically included with the Besta unit, not the hardware. In my DIY opinion, an easier route could be furniture cleat hardware designed for more versatile use. Always check weight ratings, choose appropriate screws, and consider your furniture's weight and contents. I also used a French cleat in my laundry cabinet install, which might be worth exploring. @@KimagineDIY thanks, I don’t know amazon can show the list, one thing caught my eye is the self drilling anchors, I always use ez drilling but they cost 50 for $15 for 75 lbs, the one in your is way cheaper. Just want to know do u think tv stand from besta is easy to hang on wall? Because at my local ikea only tv stand is available instead of 3 single frame
Chatting with the IKEA store employees is a great idea as they can guide you to the right Besta TV Stand tailored to your design preferences. They'll also ensure you get the correct suspension hardware, which is key. The installation process should mirror (or be very similar to) the steps outlined in the initial installation of the Besta Double Cabinet. Just stick to the provided instructions, and I'm sure it'll turn out great. Best of luck!
@@KimagineDIYhi, I am on the phase to attach on wall, I saw your list here, WEN CLH226 Quick-Release Ratcheting Hand Clamps with 2-Inch Jaw Opening and 2-Inch Throat, 2 Pack, do you recommend to have better results?
While I hope your unit lines up perfectly without needing clamps, it's always good to have some on hand just in case. I had to troubleshoot a bit too, especially with my not-so-straight walls. Look for clamps with a wide mouth opening and a rubber coating to keep your furniture safe. Happy DIY-ing! 😊🔧
Hello! Yes according to the assembly documents the plastic clips that snap into the fame of the Besta unit are included when you purchase the suspension rail. I hope I understood your question correctly. Thank you so much for watching!😁
When you order the Besta Unit or build one in an Ikea store, you can choose many different types of door styles & colors that will fit your Besta Frame Choice. All will come with the appropriate hardware & hinges. I also have a video on how to adjust the Besta Doors: bit.ly/InstallandAdjustBestaDoors .You can see the provided screws & hinges in that video.
Hi how come you did not use the center connecting racket for the center cabinet? It appears difficult to gauge the distance without this connecting center bracket piece.
Thank you for watching and for your question. When I assembled the unit, Ikea only provided the center connecting bracket for the double cabinets, not for the single. I followed Ikea's instructions for the single cabinet installation. I hope this clears things up. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out.
Where do you get the suspension rail connector. When I asked at my l;ocal Ikea, they thought I was imagining such a thing. Without it, it's really difficult to keep them at the same height?
When I bought my besta unit, I had an ikea employee build it with me from their store computer. When you order the double cabinet it comes with the extender. If you order a single cabinet and add the suspension rail, it only comes with a single rail. My laser level really helped with laying it all out. In this video I installed a double cabinet next to a single cabinet and then another double cabinet.
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! 😊 The "magic" tool you're referring to is actually a self-leveling laser, and I have to say it's one of my absolute favorites! 😊 I totally understand where you're coming from - the laser can be an investment, especially if you're not using it often. Since I do a lot of DIY projects, it’s definitely been worth the time-saving for me. But you're absolutely right, a good ol' measuring tape and level will do the trick just fine! Hey there, thanks a bunch for checking out the tutorial and sharing your question! I totally get where you're coming from. Let me clarify-I aimed to hit both a drywall and a stud for each suspension rail. When they're joined together, I try to secure two studs and space out those drywall screws as evenly as possible. At the timestamp (2:48), you'll notice me using a gold (wood) screw , indicating I hit a stud for the rail. You're absolutely right-whenever possible, it's a smart move to use studs to anchor the unit for that extra support! Thanks again for tuning in and asking! 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for reaching out with your question! I’m glad you’re diving into this project-it's awesome to see more people, especially women, getting hands-on with DIY! In the video, at timestamp 0:41, I demonstrate how the plastic inserts are used; these are the parts that hook directly onto the suspension rail. Then at timestamp 3:27, there's a drawing that shows exactly how those plastic inserts hook into the rail, and observe how the cabinet easily fits into the rail. At timestamp 3:40 I cover how to securely attach the cabinet to the rail. I hope this helps clarify things! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. You're doing great!
@@reeltylerkent Well, that's the thing. I learned from another video that the two round tabs are supposed to slide into two holes on the side panels. My Besta cabinet does not have those holes. Period. The end panels are not swapped. The cabinet was bought new yesterday but came with the old style angle brackets that mount inside. My point stands, this video is useless.
Hey there! I totally get your frustration, and I appreciate your comment. Just a heads up, during the video, I mentioned (check the timestamp 0.45) that I was in the process of relocating my Besta unit, which has been through a few moves since 2017. The weird brackets you're referring to were actually installed during the unit's first assembly, and I tried to remove them for the video, but it started causing damage since they're meant to be permanent. I genuinely wish I could have covered step 1 more thoroughly, but given the circumstances, it was a bit tricky. Best of luck with finding the solution you need, and I appreciate your understanding! Hello, yes I did. In the description box below the video, I list out all the materials I used and the ones I bought from Ikea. But here are some quick links for you. Thank you so much for watching.

How did u attach laser on the wall?
Thanks a bunch for tuning in and sharing your interest! I actually used a self-leveling laser mounted on a universal tripod for this project. Explore all the fantastic materials & tools 👉🏼 amzn.to/3rRZF9z
Good Luck with your project!
Does the plastic clips comes with the suspension rail?
Hello! Yes according to the assembly documents the plastic clips that snap into the fame of the Besta unit are included when you purchase the suspension rail. I hope I understood your question correctly. Thank you so much for watching!😁
@Kimagine DIY u understood perfectly, thank u. If u don't mind, does the best unit comes with relevant screws for like cabinet doors etc?
When you order the Besta Unit or build one in an Ikea store, you can choose many different types of door styles & colors that will fit your Besta Frame Choice. All will come with the appropriate hardware & hinges. I also have a video on how to adjust the Besta Doors: bit.ly/InstallandAdjustBestaDoors .You can see the provided screws & hinges in that video.
@@KimagineDIY thank you loads!
You are so welcome😁

thanks a bunch for tuning in!
What's that laser thing that marks your walls? Magic!
Thank you so much for watching and reaching out with your question! 😊 The "magic" tool you're referring to is actually a self-leveling laser, and I have to say it's one of my absolute favorites! I use it in so many of my DIY projects because it makes marking walls and leveling so much easier. If you're interested in checking it out, you can explore all the tools I used for this project here 👉🏼 amzn.to/3rRZF9z. For just the laser, click 👉🏼 amzn.to/4gpZkzs.

@@KimagineDIY thanks! Looks amazing, a bit expensive for just some home works, again thank you anyways !
😊 I totally understand where you're coming from - the laser can be an investment, especially if you're not using it often. Since I do a lot of DIY projects, it’s definitely been worth the time-saving for me. But you're absolutely right, a good ol' measuring tape and level will do the trick just fine! Keep up the great work with your home projects!
what is the name of the laser beam machine?
where to buy?
Is it harmful if the beam shone on eye?
Hello, Thank you so much for stopping by channel. I list all the materials and tools I use in the description box below the video but here is a quick link: Self-leveling Laser Level: amzn.to/365VtIb
Even though the beam coming out of a laser level has only a small amount of power, it is concentrated enough to harm your eyes. Anyone using a laser level should follow the below precautions: NEVER stare into a laser beam.
There are protective eyewear options: amzn.to/3Cy0Ywl

Why didn’t you screw into the studs?
Hey there, thanks a bunch for checking out the tutorial and sharing your question! I totally get where you're coming from. Let me clarify-I aimed to hit both a drywall and a stud for each suspension rail. When they're joined together, I try to secure two studs and space out those drywall screws as evenly as possible. At the timestamp (2:48), you'll notice me using a gold (wood) screw , indicating I hit a stud for the rail. You're absolutely right-whenever possible, it's a smart move to use studs to anchor the unit for that extra support! Thanks again for tuning in and asking! 😊
Are you in UK?
I live in the US. Are you in the UK?
Hard to focus but really appreciated 🥰
Hello thank you so much for your feedback! I really appreciate it. Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve my future videos?
@@KimagineDIY I didn't find it hard to focus! Good job with the installation especially since you have fake nails on 🤗
You're welcome. Glad this video was helpful.
Wow how can girls do these. U show how to attached it to the wall, what about to the cabinet, how to
Hook it
In etc
Completely useless. You completely omit how to attach the weird brackets to the cabinet
Couldn't find the hole?
Cheers!
@kscMark6742 if you can't figure that part out... Then I have no words. Read the book lol
@@Mafioso1731 I think you must not have paid attention. Here iis the important again, just for you "My Besta cabinet does not have those holes. Period"

Thank you for watching this video!
Everything was great. You just forgot to show how you installed latching hardware for cabinet.
A big thank you for checking out this video and sharing your feedback - I really appreciate it! 🙌
Regarding "the latching hardware for the cabinet," I want to make sure I've got it right. Are you referring to the installation of the door hinges? If that's the case, I've actually put together a separate video to walk you through the process step by step. Feel free to check it out here: bit.ly/InstallandAdjustBestaDoors
If I've misunderstood your question, please let me know so I can provide even better assistance. Your clarity helps me help you! 😄
I avoid Besta cabinets. Has the most annoying bracket system I've seen in a cabinet
Thanks a bunch for watching and sharing your experience! I totally get where you're coming from! I actually made this video with my own needs in mind too. I love switching up my decor and moving things around, so I've installed this unit a few times myself. It's like a little refresher each time, right?
At $60 it's the best value there is.

With no shoes? Are you crazy???
Haha, thanks for keeping an eye on my feet! 😄 You're absolutely right; standing on a stepstool with no shoes was a bit silly. Safety first, right? Next time, I promise I'll wear my DIY safety shoes - socks with extra grip! Thanks for watching and looking out for me. 🧦🛠️🏡😉
That's not the rails ikea uses for sektion cabinets
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts! You're absolutely right-this video focuses on the suspension rails specifically designed for the Besta cabinets. I'm always looking to learn more, so I’d love to hear your input! What type of rails do you know Ikea uses for their Sektion cabinets? Your insights could be super helpful to others in our community. Thanks again for your comment!
Not an easyway. Not everybody has a laser
Hey there, big thanks for giving this video a watch! I totally get that not everyone has a laser level handy. No worries though, you can totally tackle this project using a regular level too. I've actually set up and taken down this unit twice using a regular level (moved with this unit 2 times before this install), it just involves a couple more steps.
Just wanted to highlight that the laser level makes things easier and speeds up the installation process. Your feedback is really appreciated! 😊
