For literary recipes: “like water for chocolate” by laura esquivel (mexican author) is a GREAT example. The chapters of the book begin with the description of a recipe that is going to have some sort of moment during a meal and is going to have some sort of magical impact in the characters of the book. And it is also set in the early 1900s mexico, it’s an awesome book. 10/10 would recommend.

Desi, have you seen the Anne of Green Gables cookbook? My mom gave it to me for my birthday last year, and I love it so much. It’s so sweet, cottagecore, and the recipes are all great and creative. And there are pictures in it too!!

I read this books in Polish as a child and it never to this moment occurred to me that treat that Edmund received was lokalized during translation - in my version he ate "ptasie mleczko", polish treat consisting of solidified foam (based on egg whites, vanilla flavored) in chocolate coating. Of course English boy couldn't have THAT, but Turkish delight is unknown in this part of Europe, so... xD my favourite food description was breakfast in beavers cottage, it was so vivid!
Turkish delight is gorgeous! Especially the pink one! And I have made it and it was nice too! It makes me think of childhood Christmases when we always had Turkish delight in little round boxes with a little wooden fork and they were covered in lots of icing sugar! Magical! xxx Viv from England.

Ohhhh Harry Potter foods would be amazing!! But yes I definitely recommend trying some from The Hobbit/LOTR 👌🏻 so so good!!
In the blu-ray edition of The Hobbit, they included a menu of what a hobbit would eat. Might try some of it.
