One thing to keep in mind when you first start doing this. You need to start the process of crossing your wrists much sooner than you think. You want to start hitting a slight draw or even hooking the ball in the beginning. Lily says to start with a half swing. I maintain you should start with a quarter swing. Keep in mind, this isn’t just a one range session thing. You will need to hit balls most everyday for 3-4 weeks doing this. DON’T CHEAT OR IT WON’T WORK. Also have a strong grip and closed stance. You can go to half swings the next 3-4 weeks. Same scenario hitting a bucket most everyday. What you will quickly see, is that you’re hitting the ball as far with a half swing as your playing mates with a full swing. Finally you graduate to a full swing and will be out driving most by 20 yards. It works for woods and irons. This is when you will realize what Lily says is spot on. I went through this for 8 weeks as a teenager. I know for a fact it works. During this process your swing changes and crossing your wrists adds big yardage. I went from a 20 handicap to a 7 handicap by the end of the season. Could have better if I wasn’t such a lousy putter. Give what Lily shows in this video a try but you have to be patient! Eight weeks is a small sacrifice in exchange for a lifetime of great ball striking!
I started to play golf about 4 months ago and I got coaching about one a week. Many times, I think I become a good ball striker. Then, the next day, I tried it very hard and ruin my swing and I got lost again and again. Thank you for your advice, the thing you said is really similar to me right now and I will try to play my half swing, hit ball to the left ,and have more patience.
thank you, sir. really appreciate your detailed explanation, which does a lot help to me. now i realize the importance of 'practice-period factor'. and of course, thank you too, our lovely charming lily!
Nice Video Lily. I'll add a another guide to this video. When crossing the wrists, focus on the "Watching the blur" of the Club path to be parallel to your stance so that the club face hits at the point of contact of the ball (that is not there). The impact is at tangent of the club face and towards the target . This keeps the center of the club swing (the butt of club is the center) inside the left thigh groin pants crease and not stray outside the left thing. Together with the whoosh sound, I think it's central to a good hit with tempo and club speed bar none. Lily - please do a video of that.
Thank you Lily. Another valued added lesson I'm excited to practise as soon as I can. I've religously limit the amount of your videos of your lessons in one night or day because I like trying things out and see how much improvements if any. And yes I have improved. My confidence has improved my belief if I stick to the plan , the plan will work. My ball striking has been an endless journey of frustration. But 2 days ago I took to the range with the lessons on my iphone I watched your lessons on the swing plane, cross over wrist action, etc and all the reasons why my swing was inconsistent and my ball striking being unpredictable. So now you know I'm genuinely excited Lily so thank you and look forward to maybe you can play a exercise round of 3 or 9 holes which I believe others who have subscribed to your channel would be just as excited as I would be.
Thank you Lily. I've struggled with head speed because of trying to "swing faster". Your tuition has been a revelation. Even at half swing I have better outcomes than my previous efforts. As long as you are already competent at hitting the ball, this drill will gain you yards. It works with my woods off the fairway too.
Lily, I've been watching and rewatching your videos and found them to be the most watchable, clear and impactful lessons I've ever encountered. Easy to watch and understand. Best basic information available. Wish I knew this 30 hears ago. Makes such great sense and has helped me understand and execute the golf swing like no other instruction. I've told all my friends. Thank you!
Thank you - very helpful - I have been working on this exactly for a couple months now - all of the Pro’s do this - I had a 310 yd bomb last week in a scramble & nailed all but 2 fairways - this definitely works. (I am 63yrs old)
I absolutely love how simple and clear you keep each of these lessons. This is what 99 percent of golfers need to make improvements. Some teachers make the mistake of assuming everyone who plays golf should understand all the golf jargon they are used to using.
Hi Lilly, again a fantastic video, explaining the arm crossover release method. For so many years amateur golfers have been told not to allow the forearms to crossover one another, especially not through impact. But I can see with your teaching method it happens after impact and although you have not emphasised it you have a wonderful body rotation through to a full finish. I really like your strategy to emphasise the crossover in order to achieve a natural release and deliver maximum club head speed. This is a fantastic video to explain a powerful natural / traditional release pattern. I can’t help feeling the modern release patterns have taken us too far towards body only release methods and neglected the traditional methods that gave son much distance to the likes of Tiger Woods. I would imagine Rory Mcilroy Weil be using this approach also. Myles
She is so right! There is only one release in the golf swing: the trail hand must over-take the lead hand. Or, as she puts it, the hands must cross. Well done!
IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO LILY: I'm playing for 2 months now and yesterday I saw your video very attentively. Today I put what I learned from you in practice and in my game. Yesterday I topped the driver each 2 from 3 times I hit it...today I shot 150m ALWAYS ! You are an amazing teacher and Pro and your tips have done wonders for me. I even got lots of compliments from the other players!! I'm forever grateful to you ❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome video to show amateurs how to increase speed. That’s the true swing, even with irons that amateurs dont see in watching these types of videos. You’re doing a great job showing it.
I watched this put it into practice and the result was outstanding. Immediately added 20 mtrs of the tee and 30 mtrs of the deck with a hybrid. I love this video ❤️🏌️♂️ thank you Lily
This is so good Lily! I have been practising this for a few weeks now and I can easily do it with my irons (and get much better distance) but struggle with my driver. Your video will help me do this. Thank you :) Can you come to London to give lessons? I will be your first student :)
I’m so glad I found your videos. They’re my favorite ones and now I’ve started unsubscribing to others. Most are way longer than they need to be. I don’t want to watch thirty minute tip videos
This is in sync with what Henry Cotton British Open Champion did and taught to those who had an open mind and prepared to listen to 'unconventional' concepts. Great stuff! What clubhead speed do you generate, Lily?
If this works next time I’m on the range my mind will be blown! One question I have though, is how is the club face controlled when doing this? It seems like you’d have to have incredible timing to get a square face at impact.
Hi Lilly, great video. This is not for iron play, correct? As it would be difficult to be able to get the proper shaft lean at impact, I am assuming. What do you think?
You should still be able to maintain low point ahead of ball doing this. If not then the problem is elsewhere like swaying off the ball at takeaway, too much right side bend coming into impact or maybe little or no weight shift after transition. I think this release pattern is non negotiable to be honest

I have a slow swing speed. About 200 yards is a good drive. I need to really work on this to gain some speed. Thanks Lilly. 🎉

All from a guy who calls himself 3 putt. I'll listen to Lilly.

Very informative! Thank you for explaining how to do things in the golf swing.
Fantastic..you´re the pro i was looking for so many years...easy to understand and very helpfull. Keep going
Liliy, your instruction is exceptional. Thanks.
This is so good Lily!
I have been practising this for a few weeks now and I can easily do it with my irons (and get much better distance) but struggle with my driver. Your video will help me do this. Thank you :) Can you come to London to give lessons? I will be your first student :)
Would be nice to see before and after data.
Yes I call this the forearm-X, all the pros have some form of the forearm-X after impact, great video thanks
Thank you Miss Lilly...I think it could help my swing so much.
Thanks Lily you are the best!!👍
Hi lily
I am a big fan and follower of your lessons on y tube
Can u please share a video on how to hinge in the backswing
Thank you Lily, great lesson!!
Super tip! Wish I could see it in slow motion.
This was very helpful and a special thank you for the English translation
Crossing arms u need to rotate chest otherwise, u r flipping and you will pull hook the ball. Please comment on that. Thanks.
Try rotating your lower body first :)
Agreed, it’s a very bad visual. Flipping without rotation is a death move.
Quite adequately explained at 4.12 !
Thank you Miss Lily, well done on getting 5k subscribers, when are you coming to Australia i need some lessons please.😁
Wonderful tips. Would they be applicable to irons and
woods as well ?
Why have i never seen this method of gaining club head speed before?
Can’t wait to try it. As I’m a short hitter
Good advice ❤
Wonderful tips. Would the same technique be applicable to irons and woo
ds ?
Lily, I thought we should keep the left wrist bowed inwards on the downswing? I am getting confused😅😅
Again another great tips

Can you do a video on the corro use of the legs.
Excellent tip
I noticed that all pros do this but always thought it would be difficult to time.
there's only one word i could say to lily: PRIMA!
Now please show us how to hit the irons.
Hi Lily does this apply to irons and wedges too?
What does within the range of you right leg mean?
super tips thanks ❤
Hi can you show how you hold the club please
Hard to hit the ball squarely. Needs a lot of practice to hit the ball in the center of driver club
Hi Lilly, great video. This is not for iron play, correct? As it would be difficult to be able to get the proper shaft lean at impact, I am assuming. What do you think?
Yes, it is for all clubs. I added 20 yards to my irons and I’m 57.

If not then the problem is elsewhere like swaying off the ball at takeaway, too much right side bend coming into impact or maybe little or no weight shift after transition. Should you cross your arms with irons and hybrids?
Lilly’s crossover release swing method applies equally to the irons also.
When u crossing arms, are we supposed to turn chest same-time?
Wish I saw this 40 years ago.
It's not too late now! :)
How do you sync this up with your body-turn?
When i cross over my arm i pull hook the ball.
Excellent lesson
Hello my friend….

👍
Please show practice hitting the ball squarely so as not to top the ball or scoop it
Enjoy watching your content but not quite getting it all to work.
Your next step is to offer video training and fault fixing.

And mine. 😢

Too far from camera.
This thing has snap hook written all over it.
Yes, we should release the club thru by pressing our left hand against the left side of the shaft
I guess you did not understood it. There will be no snap hook…
Hi is it a good Way for seniors..?😊👍🏌️thanks
