Goodness me Lily! I was watching this 3 times last night while in my room and was applying the drop which I feel is like sitting down and twisting the hips(lower body) then releasing the swing and presto after trying for a few swing at the driving range this morning and it works! went for a nine hole and 2 of my playing buddy were gobsmacked😂 no more slice. Most of all I gained distance from 230 to 250 yards. Thank you soooo much Lily!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Well, this was just what I’ve been looking for, for a very long time. Why on earth don’t other teachers show this in the same way. So easy to understand. Thank you very much Lily for this lesson. With this vertical drop I’ve stopped topping the ball. I tried so many different things over the years but nothing works. This felt so wrong in my mind but it works every time as the body is turning to bring it in line perfectly. My brain still sometimes wants my arms to go to the ball straight away but with this drill it’s easy to adjust every time. I practice this in the garden many times before golf. You’re a life saver Lily. Cheers from Adelaide, Australia ❤
Well explained and not shown often enough by UA-cam pros. For those used to an over the top swing getting this dialled in may involve hitting the ground a few times to start but will pay off in the long run.
Ernie Els also advocated a natural drop of the club on the downside before turning thru. Actually many tour pros like Justin Rose also adopted this vertical drop motion. Good for snr golfers. This is a kinematic sequence that can generate lots of power if one can’t turn fast and do not have fast arms.
Its fun to watch. As one of the best 80 yr old golfers in the world the LIV tour would be smart to have my act on the road with them. People ask me if I hit great shots and i tell them not really I just never ever lose to any human my age on planet earth.
The lack of a vertical drop plagued my game for decades then I happened on a range with a guy called Mike Malaska. I was warming up for a round at a celebrity pro-AM, and he was there working with some professional golfers and older club guys. I went to the end of the range and hit a few balls and he came over and asked me if I played baseball and I told him nope. He then discussed how I was moving my hands and arms away from my body and coming over the top. He actually took about 5 minutes to get me to feel a vertical drop which is not what he called anything and the change was night and day. This instruction would have saved me decades of hunting for my shot in the woods. Thanks for your video.
This is exactly 💯 what I have been working on, but I love how all sides were covered. That's the first example I've seen with all different angles . Well done.
excellent video and instruction. So well demonstrated .. thanks for posting. Great idea to put a impact bag there to show us where the club should drop to. I just subscribed
Lily, great job. I’ve worked hard to copy some of your videos and I’ve gone from 230 yards to 285. Most of which are going straighter than ever. I can’t thank you enough. I always look forward to seeing your next video!!!! Bravo 🙌
Excellent lesson! One thing to note is do not slam a graphite shaft into that impact bag as you can EASILY break that shaft in half. You can clearly see Lily pulls up on the force of that club into the bag!!!!!!!
This is why women pros have better swings than their male counterparts!! These women create a "Gravity Golf" swing by dropping their ams and hands with free hands and wrists. This creates natural acceleration. This is also why a 5 foot tall, 100 pound female pro can effortlessly hit a drive 250-270 yards on demand. Their power is proportionally greater than a Rory McIlroy. Great drill. BETTER INSTRUCTION!!
@jasonicnyc You're wrong. The average LPGA distance is 255-260 yards. Statement of fact. There are several women professional players that can top out at 300 yards. If the average male player swung as these women do they could play from the tips. Not looking like they belong on the woman's tees.
Generally I find that woman golfers finesse their swings because they are physically smaller than their male counterparts who use brute force. As such I find it much easier to learn from female pro golfers.
@ please look at the stats on the lpga website. You are completely incorrect. Only ONE player is at 290 and the majority are around 230-240. Educate yourself before spouting nonsense.
Wonderful instructions. I practiced this drill both at home and on the range, and today, after playing 9 holes, I was amazed by the results and the noticeable improvement in my distance
Thanks! You are good! Wish you were a local golf instructor. How do you lower your hands and hit a fade? It seems like this swing will always come from inside out.
I am 53 years old and have always had a problem with coming over the top and leading with my shoulder. This video was the first thing that ever made an impact on my swing. I started with a pitching wedge and got to the point where I had great distance with little effort. It felt great! However, every club after that (9i-Driver) I could not stop slicing the ball (my usual swing is a slight draw). No matter what I did with my hands or club face I couldn’t fix it. It feels as though I’m “trapped.” I watched your other videos as well but can’t seem to resolve the problem. Do you have any advice? Thanks again for the great video!
Great video and explanation! Thank you. Question: I began practicing the vertical drop but am hitting behind the ball. Is that likely caused by lack of rotation?
I’m not a teaching Pro but it sounds like your lower body stalls and you hit the ground before the ball. As you do the Vertical Drop you MUST shift your weight to your front foot and then rotate. If you don’t trust my opinion then go see a professional teaching Pro. I would be curious if they agree with my analysis! Good Luck 🍀
That's something I've worked really worked hard to do...and I almost completely eliminated fat shots with my irons. But when I tried the soft arms drop, it resulted in drop kicks with driver. Perhaps I was too focused on the drop and my pressure didn't shift in time, my hips didn't clear in time, and my upper body rotation wasn't sufficient. All that to say, it's very possible you are correct.

What an excellent video by Lily on keeping the club on plane. I will practice this move a lot ✅
Lilly has the best golf instruction on UA-cam.
Well explained and not shown often enough by UA-cam pros. For those used to an over the top swing getting this dialled in may involve hitting the ground a few times to start but will pay off in the long run.
@divotor147 Did you have to make this change??? If so...what was the hardest feel for you??? Thanks!

What a wonderful video. Absolutely makes sense. A lightbulb moment for me. Thank you so much Lily. Please keep them coming.

Hi Lilly from Las Vegas... your instruction for the vertical drop is excellent...gonna work on that to improve my distance; thank you!

Good reference point by pulling close to the body. Thanks Coach Lily.
This why I kept slicing and had no power! Thank you young lady!
korean golf coaching looks great, but i can't read korean. lily golf solved the problem, concise and effective! love it!

Very informative channel. Thank you for the straightforward and useful content
So glad i found you and subscribed.Don't have your talent but your instruction makes it look so simple even this mid handicapper can follow.
Really well done Lily, this is very difficult for amateurs to understand until they feel it.
Thank You!!! This is the missing link I've been looking for to get my swing where I want it.
How many missing links have you had? One thing for certain, there will be 5000 more🤣🍻
I finally discovered my problem with topping my tee shots. Thank you for illustrating the way you did. Sugo-shipshiyo!
Best format training on UA-cam, Keep 'em coming Lily. Thank you.
Short, concise and on point … great instruction
Hello my friend Lilly, your tips are really helping my game!
Excellent lesson! One thing to note is do not slam a graphite shaft into that impact bag as you can EASILY break that shaft in half. You can clearly see Lily pulls up on the force of that club into the bag!!!!!!!
Lily is the best - and also watch her shorts, they are great.
I liked her shorts too.
Lily your video's are very helpful , thank you.
Excellent job!! The visual was really helpful.
Great video on the drop and attack from the inside...
Lily Cheers,very nicely explained.thanks.
thank you for this chanel that is in English, I follow your Korean one and now i subscribed to this one!
Great swing mechanics without tons of bs waffling!

Gravity is not causing the drop
How many misconceptions can you out into one post?? No one that short and light is effortlessly hitting it 270 lol

So clear now! Thank you!
Thank you coach Lily 🎉
Lily is the best!
Thank you very much, that explanation was great!, I will work on that.
Excellent...thanks from Canada!!!!
Lilly, well described and demonstrated drill. Does this move apply to irons also ?
Thanks. Can you talk about overhead view of swing plane in an arc fashion to maintain in downswing how to do?
Thanks from Berlin Germany
Wonderful instructions. I practiced this drill both at home and on the range, and today, after playing 9 holes, I was amazed by the results and the noticeable improvement in my distance
will work on that later, great vid, thanks....9.5 capper. :)
Thanks! You are good! Wish you were a local golf instructor.

Giving this a try later, thanks again Lily…

Can u teach a lesson at Osan AFB? This was a very good lesson on vertical drop.
very good video, congratulation 👍👍👍
thank you Lily ...
Thanks Lily!!👍
Nice thanks Lily 👍
Brilliant thanks!
Great video thank you
Thanks! Just wondering how to incorporate the horizontal tug with the vertical drop.
Most excellent explanation of a driver swing vertical drop ! I wish you would have hit some balls also . thank you Cheers
I wonder if it can be use when hitting off the deck and when on the ball below or above your feet which would be difficult I believe.
Great video and explanation! Thank you. Question: I began practicing the vertical drop but am hitting behind the ball. Is that likely caused by lack of rotation?
Yes, you need to rotate more.
Thx👌
When she shows the wrong way to do it it's a perfect example of my swing.
Lily, I love you 😊
EXCELLENT

Is this also for iron swing ?
I lily is that move with irons has well👍
Your reply hasn’t told me anything ?
Yes the same🎉@davebateman25
do you pull the hands down or just let them drop naturally?
Does this work with all clubs?
Hi same goes to iron ?
@@oceanyt8 yes
@@darrenhadden1037 thanks
Is the initial move to drop the club at the top of the backswing active(rapidly dropping arms) or passive(gravity)?

It is apply to others clubs?
Is it recommended for iron shots as well?
I would like to know as well

nothing about the hips?
I've tried this before and I just started drop kicking my driver up to 6 inches behind the ball. 😡
