Thanks! Ya know... just getting started. It's also freakishly hard to pull off all of the making and recording and editing. I've gained a whole new level of appreciation for all of those UA-cam content creators out there. Sounds like I need to get some more projects going!
Nice I'm surprised you don't have more subscribes. I've been making videos for about 7 years so I understand the effort that goes into making a successful channel keep up the good work
Thanks for the encouraging words. It's incredibly hard to make good videos and I've really come to appreciate anyone that is out there making content. I'll be sure to check out your channel. You keep up creating as well!
@@RandomMakingEncounters it has definitely become harder to create content that grabs people. Thank you for saying you'll look at my channel, I don't really have a theme for my channel, I just create what I want to create, but I make sure it's organised into playlists. Thanks for the kind words. I have a couple of these eggs I need to finish to round out the set. Too many ideas… too little time… keeps me outta trouble on the weekends. Cheers!
It's a pretty fun project. There are a LOT of scales but well worth the final results. It's actually better if things are a little irregular in parts... more natural that way. Have fun!
Been asked to make a Dragon egg as a gift for someone, wanted to use clay and not drawing pins stuck in a foam egg, this video was really helpful. You got an extra sub today, im looking forward to taking a look at some of the other videos on your channel!
Glad it was of use! I'm working through a base for the egg. A ring cut from some 4" PVC pipe, Sculpey, and a little wire carving to look like "Dragon Glass"-seems appropriate. I'm not a sculptor and I was really happy with the way the materials all came together. I'd be interested to hear how your project turns out! Thanks for subscribing... just getting started so feedback is always great.
I'm from Brazil...my English is not very good, but I'll try haha. Use this Game Of Thrones phase and teach us how to do: *Iron Throne *Dragon glass kniffe * Battle shield with the design of some GOT house What do u think ?
Gabi... dragon glass knife is done and posted. This is the easy version... cast resin is next (I don't think I can make one from real obsidian... I know my limits). Thanks again for the suggestion!
@@RandomMakingEncounters uooooooouuuu..... I do not believe. I am so happy. I'm going to watch RIGHT NOW !!! I'm sure it looked great. You are veeeery good
I think it was Hobby Lobby. If I were to do it again, I think I would switch to papier mache like these - www.amazon.com/Pack-Large-Paper-Mache-Eggs/dp/B081K774VR Paper eggs seem to be more available year-round since they're not holiday specific like these were. The dimensions of the egg I used was around 8" by 5". The ceramic is nice because it gives it a bit of heft but it's both fragile and rigid. The Super Sculpey can shrink a bit and I've noticed it can even shrink over time which can lead to cracks along the clay. Using something with a bit of give might help reduce or eliminate that. If you wanted to give them a bit of heft you could fill them with sand :)! If you ever have trouble getting the clay to stick to a surface, there is also a polymer clay glue you can thinly spread on your first layer of clay. I wish you the best on your egg hunt!!
LOL!!! I didn't show the egg! I gotta go back and watch it. It was one of my early videos and it's really as much of an art to making the videos as it is to make the thing. I'd like to think I'm gradually getting better but ya never know. Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!
Thanks! Honestly... I never know if it’s going to turn out. This is one thing where I actually thought it all came together. Except... for my cracking-over-baking fail. Paint hides a lot!
@@RandomMakingEncounters well the cracking is so subtle that it could be covered with paint, so not so bad. Could be way worse 😊 I think it turned out great
Deep-Sea-Octopus little to no risk. The baking temperature of Super Sculpey is 275 degrees so the egg holds up fine. However, since the egg is rigid, you may see cracks in Sculpey layers if you bake multiple times.

Wow this was such a fantastic tutorial, thank you for sharing your processes. Absolutely love this 😊
You bet! I still have a couple of eggs I still need to finish myself! All the best!
Great project. Love it!!!
Thanks! It's really an "easy" one. I was really done with scales by the time I finished but I have a new love of polymer clay!
Your work never disappoint, it's amazing!

Hola, está increíble tu proyecto..! Muchas felicidades...! Parece tan real ..!
Thank you! I think taking the time to put the scales on one at a time really helped.
Amazing!
Thanks! I've made a few now and they're a little time consuming but pretty easy... just a lot of rolling and cutting. All the best!

Andaba buscando un buen vídeo, y de todo lo que ví..... TU VÍDEO ES EL MEJOR...!
That's very kind of you to say. I hope it maybe inspires you to make one!
What thickness were the clay sheets you made with the pasta machine to cut the scales?
I cranked it to it's thickest setting. My guess is the thickness is right around 1/8" or 3mm. Pretty thick.
What hobby store was it, was it a known chain? I'm having a hard time finding a base ceramic egg that size in July :(
I think it was Hobby Lobby. If I were to do it again, I think I would switch to papier mache like these - www.amazon.com/Pack-Large-Paper-Mache-Eggs/dp/B081K774VR

Dracarys! 🔥🔥🔥
This egg is definitely not fireproof! It barely survived the toaster oven ;).
I would have liked seeing the finished project. Otherwise very nice.

@@RandomMakingEncounters well the cracking is so subtle that it could be covered with paint, so not so bad. Could be way worse 😊 I think it turned out great
I'm not crafty enough to make my own dragon scale...would you considering making and selling a few?
If you contact me through my Etsy shop, we can scope things out a bit!
What sort of risk is there for the ceramic egg to shatter while you bake?
Deep-Sea-Octopus little to no risk. The baking temperature of Super Sculpey is 275 degrees so the egg holds up fine. However, since the egg is rigid, you may see cracks in Sculpey layers if you bake multiple times.
Did you filled the ceramic egg with something or just used it hollow inside?
It’s hollow. It was a pretty substantial piece of ceramic so it has a nice heft to it.
It's not playing. I've tried everything.
It was actually doing the same thing to me? It's working now but I'm not sure what the glitch was. Hopefully you get it to work for you :(
Love your chanal but as advice ,try make the vedio shorter ..
Keep making cool staf 👍
I hear ya! Trying to figure that out. Thanks for the feedback!
I disagree, I enjoy teaching videos while I'm working~even if I'm working on something different. Your video is just right.

Dislike just for the over timepass you did. Just start making things already dude. So much talking!
