You're certainly right about their music's reach. I picked-up a "Chiefs" cassette after watching them bring down the house as Ill. District's special guests in the '80s. SPEBS music hadn't been on my RADAR at that point. I played the tape all through the three-hour drive back to Chicago -- and still enjoy it today. Thanks, Mike, for posting.
Lorene, I served with your dad at the 93rd evac .Hospital in Vietnam . I was one of the CRNA’s. We would have a group sing at least once a week outside the Officer’s club.
Nice rendition of a song I can't hardly stand to hear anymore. The composer peddled her barbershop composition to every Adeline winning choruses and Quartets and many Society district champs as well. Groups thought they were by auditioning and purchasing, were getting a new vehicle to separate your group from the competition. I attended to the Hawaii Intl Adeline's contest, where 9 of the 22 or so choruses, and many quartets sang the same song. The audience gowned as the first chords where sung, on top of that, the author who was in attendance, required her song to be sung as written so no one could vary the interpretation.
