I love the man at the start line, "Are you Seth James Demoor?" You're so humble to just say, "Yes I am". Also, at the end of the race, you were willing to slow down to see if the other runner was okay. That's true sportsmanship right there. Love it!
QD: I have my first ever trail race this coming Saturday. It’s a 10 miler. I’ve never run a trail race so I have zero expectations, which is nice to just be going into it with a free mind and spirit. Thanks for a great video and congrats to Joseph!
QD: Converted to trails about 18 months ago. LOVE what it offers! Completed a 50 miler recently on local trails - glorious! Thank you for sharing the experience SJD
Coke Nordic Race #1 last December. WTG! won your AG and top 10 OA after signing up 36 hours later with big amplitude in your legs!?!? LEGEND! head bowed, lotsa love from Durango! oh, congrats Joseph!
I felt the same way for my race on Saturday, was not fresh at all. It was my first time to Colorado so I did around 100 miles with around 8k of vertical before the race, but 70 miles in running. My legs were so heavy, not fresh at all, but still excited to race considering first race of 2021 due to injury
Congratulations to Seth for finishing top in his age group--with no training. An even bigger congratulations to Joseph for killing it against tough competition and finishing in third place. P.S. I hope you guys get together for some mountain runs this summer. I love seeing you guys together. Sibling rivalry is a phrase that we hear too much. How about sibling camaraderie? I always tell me college-age kids how happy their mom and I are that they are as close as they are. After all, at some point, we will be gone, but they will always have each other.
Love this comment so much! After some rough years in our teens I'm super close to my siblings now! I have 6 kids, ages 10-21, and I've thought the same thing: they'll always have each other! Let's hear it for sibling camaraderie!
@@runningmama4793 Thank you! I love the phrase. Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly), if you Google it, you get 519,000 results. Sibling rivalry? 13,800,000!
QD: Rust buster was my first and only live race so far since pre-pandemic-the Donut Dash 5K in Denver in April. I didn’t hit my A goal (to break into a time range) but my B and C goals were to have fun and win my age division, both of which I hit. It was extra nice to win my age division since I was 2 months short of a major new age division so competing with runners 10 years younger. I hit my new division today, my birthday! Only a runner who enjoys racing celebrates being 5 years older. I am grateful for this milestone because it guaranteed my acceptance for Boston this October, and reaching a decade that would have seemed very old to me when I was growing up has a silver lining. Martha
Been there almost every year since 2006 even post TBI, and most years with my now 78 year old father. I do the 10Kish Spring Runoff. Will be there next year prepping for Pikes Peak Marathon.
QOD: Congratulations on your race & finish. My rust buster was today, I ran for the first time in just over 8 weeks due to injury. It felt great to be out there again even though all I did was an easy 5km. Your camera craft today was incredible, the footage of you running blew my mind you got a great sense of the terrain & your speed. Thank you for doing this for us as I’m sure it impacted your speed as you were effectively swinging only one arm. I’m so looking forward to turning that door knob again tomorrow, thank you so much for the inspiration. DGR STRONG 💪🏃♂️🏃♀️
QD: lol, 2 days ago, never tapered but actually increased the mileage considering first time in Colorado. Not fresh at all, but overall still a good performance
Great race Seth, felt sorry for the young guy in the blue pants, first he went flying past you on the down hill the the next seen was him crashed out, would be interesting to find out did he finish the race ok & hope he’s not to injured, looked like a ridiculously difficult section to pass on 😮👍☘️🍀🌳🌲👊🏼👍🏼
For me personally, ive found the transition from pavement to trails hard. Especially the speed part and try to keep up the speed in those thinner and more narrower trails. Keep learning! 🇸🇪👍
My first rust buster is on the 4th of July! Great vid!! Thanks for inspiring us all to be better and faster runners!! Guys!! LOVE EACH OTHER!! This world is messy, but we need to remember to be kind, especially when you want to be negative!
Congrats Seth!!! Good running. It looked an amazing race. Just one thing you mentioned, the cheese rolling isn't in Scotland, but Gloucestershire, England. That hill that they run up does look as steep and the one they go down chasing the cheese, that looks tough. Hats off to those doing it!!! Just watched Kipchoge win the Olympic Gold looking as fresh as he was at the start!!!
Stephany is so right I did the same with my Marathon and was happy even though I just mist my A goal but hit B and C so I was happy at the end and even committed to my next marathon in February 2022 😂
That is where Will am Seth, I had my first trail race ever and it was 10,600 feet up in the mountains. The race was in FairPlay, Co. my legs were definitely not fresh since I wanted to explore all the trail up in Colorado the whole entire week of the race. I still did come in 4th in a 15 mile race, 10,600 feet above sea level at 15 years old
I haven't run single track on a trail in years. It brings back memories of some of the trails near a zoo in the Brown County Reforestation camp in Suamico Wisconsin. Great job Seth!
Yeah waiting patiently for everything locally to open up locally. Miss the local racing. Congratulations Seth! I know it’s hard to go into a race you haven’t trained for and you are right in the middle of moving. In the end those races you might learn more from a race you are perfectly tapered and trained for.
On one hand i love the idea of race footage from a gopro in the gopro games but on the other i got legit motion sick from the swaying video footage. Thanks for the dedication to the vlog. I'm assuming they won't allow your drone to follow you around? ;) And the beacon is a bit large to carry in a race i suppose...
Very solid with the low amount of mountain running you've done. Always great to see you and your brother racing. Gray is the real deal. I got the opportunity to race him at US mountain championships years ago and drive him from Cranmore mnt to airport. Interesting guy.
This Thursday at Potts Field I ran a rust buster 3000m in 9:43. I stuck to the plan went out conservative and closed hard. It built a lot of confidence in the upcoming marathon training block!
I am adopting the rust buster idea for my next training block. I have done a 5k/10k time trial as I transition from interval training to threshold training mid-training block but not an official race, which is way more exciting. Let’s gooooooo
QD: Last rust buster race was the Rattling Creek 50K in Pennsylvania 2 months ago, where I beat my 50K race PR by over an hour and took 4th overall! Even though it was an ultra, I considered it a rust buster because I hadn't run over 20 miles in one go since October of last year due to a stress fracture in my knee, plus I was using it as a fitness test for my 100 miler that happened two weekends ago 💪
QD: My last rust buster was in early August of 2020 for the 5k in xc. I was in the middle of my first ever 70 mile week so it was unbelievable challenging, but I was very happy with the results all things considered. That was also the first race where I ran a top 7 (varsity spot), which really made all my hard summer training worth it.
QD: Last week I did a 1/8 triathlon and won actually 😅 I didn’t do swims since last summer and just a couple of bike ride beforehand. But I was very confident that all my effort in run and trail running would carry me forward because of the amazing aerobic base and leg strength and I did luckily 😊
Last rust buster was a track race ahead of a half marathon (I wasn't pleased with how Glass City went) and that race went off the rails pretty quickly. I think the lack of specificity from longer stuff on the road to shorter track stuff didn't hurt or help. I just wish I had a better opportunity on that day. I do have another 5k coming up soon though
QD: I actually have a rust buster coming up for this season of High School XC! Running in the seeded race for the Peachtree Road Race, hoping to land around 38 minutes!
QD: Seth on my long run yesterday it was definitely one to remember as I got attacked by a bird twice I guess I got too close to it's nest or something, and as for the QD I don't remember my last "rustbuster" but my next one is on July 3rd a 5k so I'm excited for that and I fly into Denver tomorrow for a couple hours until my connecting flight to Jackson Wyoming for altitude training. From sunny humid Florida to over 6,000 it should be an interesting week of training for me.
Cool! My husband and I are flying into Denver on Wednesday for an hour till our connecting flight to Bozeman, Montana! I wish it was for altitude training, but I'm recovering from a heel injury, so it will be more for great scenery while I stretch and foam roll! Is that like a B or C goal? : ) Really it's our anniversary trip and we're SUPER excited, as neither of us has been out west before, and he'll be fly-fishing while I take pictures and maybe get in a little running too : )
Rust buster haha. Thanks to lock down in Spain it's now 16 months since I did any race at all. BUT on 27 June ........ It's a mountain 10k. And there sure as anything is one whole lot of rust to bust!
QD: Nailed my A goal of a sub 1:30 on my rust buster HM, but in my main race (UTA 100km) I missed the silver buckle by 30mins but hit the B goal of a Bronze buckle and C goal just by finishing 😉
In the only marathon I've run, my C goal was just getting to the starting line! I was flat on my back in bed for days leading up to it because of a bizarre back injury, so I was really happy just to be there: that was probably the best part of the whole race : ) My B goal was just finishing, which I also did, but I also missed my A goal by 1 minute and 9 seconds. So close...! Congratulations on your HM time, and nailing your B and C goals for the UTA 100km : )
maybe not exactly a rust buster per se since I have no plans to do any more trail races this year, but I hopped into a trail half marathon last weekend just over a month since my first full marathon at Glass City. Between that and a 10K/5K combo (the 10K starts at 7:30, 5K at 9:15. I know, it’s weird doing both but I get two medals at the end of the day for like $30 total) next weekend, I figured these would get me excited for a planned road half marathon and marathon I plan on doing this fall (half in September, full in November) which I hope to get PR’s in both.
QD : End of may had my first race of the year, Growing Green Challenge 12 hour timed race. Training this year has been up and down with longest run at 15 miles. Managed to get the win with 60 miles and set a new course record at the event. Course was 3 miles long with plenty of hills all on a beautiful farm. Unfortunately ever since I have been dealing with runners knee. Got a 24 hour race Aug 30th and hopefully can clock a 100 miles.
What is that hat are you sporting? Looking for a super airy mesh hat with soft padding/absorption around the band that works forwards and backwards. Yours seems to fit the bill (pun intended).
Can I count the ice cream mile as a rust buster? Haha! If so, I got first place last year and will be trying to defend my title in a few weeks :) it’s essentially a fun and silly race to support my kids XC team where each person has to finish a mile on the track and be the first to eat a pint of ice cream (between laps or after the mile).
QD unfortunately we don’t have much racing within a day’s drive of where I live so I don’t get to do many rust busters. I’m trying to build time trials into my plans and use Parkruns where I can.
How much do you weigh/height about I’m curious? This is always a big part of vertical climbing is the weight to strength ratio from what I know. I am coming from cycling and learning to run. So much fun so far!
Beautiful trails! Quick question: Just got the Endorphin Pro on clearance for $149.95! Good to go for my 1st marathon or should I use my Mach 4's? And happy trails to you as Roy and Dale would say!
QOD: last rust buster race, the Marshall sent us all the wrong way so the whole race ended up lost on the side of a mountain in Wales in a massive group trying to find out way back to the general direction of the start. Seth it seems like you have been wearing the Incylence socks a whole lot lately. Can you give a review of them or at least comment on how you like them?
QD: I think in October I'll have a 100% true rust buster with running a 10k which i haven't done since I was like 15. Hopefully I can run faster than my dad did back in the day (unlikely)
I have a 5k race coming up this coming Sunday. I will call it a rust buster, because my A races will be 10k and Half marathon distances later in the Summer. My strategy for the coming 5k race is to do one 10 mile run tempo tomorrow, followed by a 10k threshold run the next day, and that will leave me with three days of easy runs building towards the Sunday 5k race. Please do advise on a better and healthier taper towards the 5k race, if you have one! Thank you! Anybody else want to give me tips for the week taper, Please do so. Thanks! Seth, It would be awesome to check your brother, Joseph's splits for this race! Is he on Strava? Maybe a very appealing Vlog idea be a thorough introduction and history into your Family's athletic endeavors! Where do you get your running charisma from?? Could our athletic abilities have something to do with our ancestral DNA and history? Who else are athletes and runners in your close family circle? nah, he clearly tripped blue shorts guy at the end. The video speaks for itself.
