  • The floor press - a barbell bench press that you perform without the bench - has become a staple exercise with many high-level powerlifters, but anyone who wants to get stronger and build muscle can benefit from it.

    Pure genius. I know now why floor presses are uncomfortable for me. Will rotate them in my weekly programming.

    That is a GREAT story. You know just the other week I won a weight lifting world championship. I'll make up the specific one in a minute.

    Wouldn't this have a similar effect to just not reaching the full range of motion on the bench press and stopping a few inches short of the bottom position? And that is when we're specifically talking about lifter with longer arms.

      Not really. I do the floor press because I have a labrum injury. The floor supports your entire back including your shoulders. Most benches are narrow which forces the shoulder labrum to work hard to stabilize which is a problem if you’re injured

    I agree with down below,bad thumb grip,especially as he straightens out his wrist.Otherwise a decent video.

    I truly don't understand why people use the "false grip". It's dangerous without one redeeming feature.

      Actually it’s much less punishing on your shoulders. Not very dangerous either if you are working in your limits

      ***** considering the plates are high enough to slide under the barbell from dead stop, how is this dangerous again?

    • @joshlp900
      @joshlp900 10 років тому +6

      SuckYourBone i didn't really consider that , it actually does seem to be much safer than a bench press

      @MathTutorVideos 8 років тому +3

      +SuckYourBone Don't worry about him ;) He only thinks it's dangerous because he can't slide out from his 5 pound weights. The rest of using 45s will be safe ;) jk jk.
