I only recently discovered your channel and I'm enjoying the content. The people asking about how much money this or that pays are destined to fail at Shutterstock. You should be shooing what you like and what you're passionate about and then capturing that moment the best you can. Once you deviate from that - and start shooting things because it would make a "good upload" - you've already lost.
Thank you Romana! My coworker also had a $7 download today, which she was literally just talking about. The more downloads you get, the more you might see some pretty random numbers.

Hi Nicole, Thanks for a wonderful video. Apart from being a great photographer you are also a great speaker...keep posting...am new to shutter stock and many of my photos are getting rejected; but I will learn I suppose
I just heard that Adobe Stock has started accepting editorials. On another topic, a while ago you suggested photos of local restaurants etc. so having checked that there were hardly any on SS I spent the day doing just that. Who knew there were so many? And a cat cafe for goodness sake! I rejected about half later because of intrusive reflections from cars in windows and people spoiling the images: in one it looked like a couple were having a row inside! So I realise the best time is early morning before many are about although I do like to show some of the interior through a door or window if possible. Anyhow, I await the shekels to roll in!
Hi Nicole, thank you for another great video. I have to say, you are basically the main reason I started selling on Shutterstock. I started this january and today is the number of sold photos 73, which is not much money, but at least I enjoy it really much and found another purpose of my photography journey. So thank you one more time, you are doing great job and good luck.
Since I have started watching your UA-cam I have uploaded about 700 images to Shutterstock with approx 25 downloads over the last 2 months ----I am bit worried that my content may be getting stale as I only shoot in a 15 mile radius of my home due to medical issues so watching your videos hopefully may spark some new ideas for me----I am off to the laundry room now--lol

I have been signing in to different stock photo websites to get info on being a contributor. Several of these websites such as Deposit Photos require an upload of official ID - passport, drivers license before getting started while other stock photo websites only ask for official ID after a payment is about to be made. In addition to supplying official ID there is a requirement to fill out and submit a W-9 form in the USA for tax purposes. Do you know which stock photo websites will require official ID and a submitted W-9 form only when a payment is available and not store that private information unless a payment is available? Also do all stock photo websites require official ID to be submitted, does Shutterstock require official ID or just the W-9 form submitted?
Hello Nicole, thank you for your videos. I have a question about re editing my tags and description on Shutterstock photos. Cannot figure out how and where to do it?
Hi there, after you upload your images, open up each image and you’ll see a section on the right hand side that you have to fill in before you can submit your photos.
Hi Nicole the one thing you will have learned by now doing these vlogs is other people’s ignorance of how stock photography works and the sometimes negative attitude of many who fail to succeed. Some are genuine and need guidance or direction cause it is difficult to learn the mine field of image acceptance and the low payouts. Hi Nicole, how do you descript editorial fotos? For example when I describe traditional festivities in my town for our youth, who finish the school. Every single shot of this day has the same background keywords (youth, traditional, school ending), even the photo shows adults or decorated buildings😏. Can you explane, how you are keywording editorial content? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi Nicole! Nice to meet you. Let me ask you something. I uploaded tires, wheels and motorcycles and they denied for "intellectual property" is because ia a custom motorcycle? I they accept if upload again in "editorial" mode? Can you create a video with "strange pictures" that they denied and why? Thanks!
Hi, have you seen my video about commercial vs editorial photos? I also have a video about product photography - it would fall under that. So yes, editorial!
Hey Nicole. You'll be happy to know I uploaded my first set of images to Shutterstock today. Now to wait and see which ones get accepted. Thanks for all your tips on how to get this going :D Cheers. Dave.
I love your videos, very informative and inspiring. I wanted to ask how can I make more money from the photos I sell on Shutterstock. I still get paid $0.25/image while others make more than $5/image. Is there anything I need to do to get a higher rate?
I have submitted a few photos of a woman's window reflection (from the back) looking out a window where the woman is in focus but the background is blurred, yet shutterstock rejected because the "main subject was not in focus", but it was. The woman IS the main subject. I would have thought that to be obvious. Any idea on how to get this submitted successfully?
There are actual people reviewing the photos so I would honestly just try again and hope that the next reviewer lets it go through. Sometimes their rejections are not logical.
Submitted a photo of a crowd in a parade. No specific focus on a person but my photo was rejected because it didn't have a release form. How do you handle crowd shots and release forms? Seems impractical to get release forms from a crowd.
I am really wondering about this whole editorial thing. Especially your traveling photos at 7:33 where you show a kid at a parade. I think it was taken somewhere in Germany. In Europe we have a law called DSGVO which can bring you in trouble (I assume that you didn't ask for permission at this photo). Did you ever get in trouble with people you photographed at a parade or something similar?
Hi Foxy, I took this photo before the new law was adopted. I know things have changed since then so now I always recommend people check their local laws before uploading images. I’m not sure how this law applies to shows (parades and such) where people expect to be photographed, but that would be worth looking into.
I've been on Shutterstock for a few months, I've only got around 60 pictures on there atm and had 13 sales. The 1st ever sale of a picture I had was on 500px, I uploaded a picture of the rainforest and someone from 500px contacted me and said they had a client who wanted to licence the photo. I submitted it for licencing and got £12 for that one download :)
Hello, I have one question. What about the photos of the beach with people, but their faces are unrecognizable or hidden. Should it also be an editorial photo?
Depends on the platform. You can try to upload it as a commercial image and if it gets rejected then re-upload it as an editorial. Different reviewers sometimes make different decisions.
Thank you for answering my question, Nicole!! I’m all ecstatic you featured it on your video! I took a screen shot... I’m going to print and frame it! #Superfan

I have submitted a ton of photos that have been rejected because they say they are not in focus, and yet when as far as I can see the subject I'm shooting is indeed in focus. Do you have any advice on this?.
It happens to me too. I think their review system has some flaws. When the rejections makes no sense, I usually reupload them and try again. They usually get accepted the second time around.
@@NicoleGlass that really helps, thank you... I have a really dumb question, I edit my photos on my laptop but depending on the angle of the screen the resolution and tones look totally different, how do I know when I'm over editing a photo?
I have a question too - how come someone can make up to 500$ with average portoflio full of gooses in the city park and dogs sleeping on random places? Why whould someone buy those images? They are not special? Not even editorial or videos, just random city pictures without editing. I've seen a lot of those contributors on ss forum shring their income. I do not see the logic in this. Do you have an answer for that?

If you're looking for videos about Vectors, I recommend checking out Olly King's channel. He has a couple of good informative videos about his experience with vectors on shutterstock.
I guess the whole Idea of you telling the people your success photos, is teach them about what pictures to upload. Well, if they upload the dryer sheets, they are practicing what you teach, right?
Good one thanks We understand how many images and videos you uploaded to shutter I know bit hard question how much you make monthly No need tell us exactly but roughly
Make your Q&A thumbnails more specific and catchy for more views. For EXAMPLE, "Apple Made a Headphone Jack DONGLE?!", instead of "Apple's Latest News + Updates August 2019". Spot why the former is better. :)
I appreciate the input. But I also do not want to deceive anyone. I can't guarantee that someone will make more $ with keywords. If their photos are terrible, keywords won't help. But I can definitely work on the specificity.

Hi Thomas, I usually create multiple 5-20 second clips, as long as there’s some variety between them. If they all look exactly the same then there’s probably no point in doing that.
Hi Nicole can I sell the same image on adobe stock or Shutterstock
Yes!
Ma'am I had doubts regarding the payment. Which option is better PayPal or Skrill? Will the money be automatically credited in our bank account of we are using Skrill account?
I'm from India ,so how much would Skrill takes for converting dollars to Indian rupees and transferring to my bank account... Kindly answer my questions... ☺🙏
Nicole glass
ma'am please reply
I don't know how the payments work in India, I would recommend that you talk to "The Teaching Doc", he is in India: ua-cam.com/users/shibu7213
@@NicoleGlass I had communicated with him already he said in future he will make a vedio of the same after completing other commited works.
when you travel abroad, do you check the laws and rules about what you can or not take pictures at in that particular country for uploading on shutterstock?
I always check the laws 😊👌🏻
@@NicoleGlass 😁👍
Was there also a spike in big toe photos after your video? : )
Hahaha I actually didn’t research that one 😂
Hi! I am not a shutter stock member but I want to be. I have question.. I have uploaded over 200 images on my Facebook page , Insta page and also numerous images on my facebook profile with/ without watermarks. Can I upload them on shutter stock or do I need to remove them.from facebook / instagram ? Kindly help me out answer the question! Thankyou
You can keep them on your social media, you still own the rights. You may want to watch this video first though... ua-cam.com/video/Qgbu4-Y6j-Q/v-deo.html
Can you give us advice on descriptive keywords.
Lucky for you, I actually have a video on that ;) ua-cam.com/video/fuFAggQJNdE/v-deo.html
How do the tiers work?
www.shutterstock.com/contributorsupport/articles/kbat02/000006640 Here are the tiers :)
Nicole Glass Yes! Thank you. Do the dollar amounts refer to the amount I have earned? It’ll take forever for me to earn $500. I did sell 3 images yesterday, so that was fun. ☺️
@@dazzlingdeb8427 Yes, your total earnings. I think it took me 2-3 months to get my first $500. But that was largely due to my Trump photos... anyway, you can do it!
Nice video 👌
Thank you!
👌
I got a bitcoin video rejected and i had to mark it as editorial, funny lart is another video identical also mine only differenc ewas the bitcoing was silver was accepted
I wants to learn about making video footage can you assist in that.
Definitely check out Crafted Shutter on UA-cam, he specializes in that :)
Adobe does now accept editorial content, you just need to be over 100 downloads.
Yes!
If you're looking for videos about Vectors, I recommend checking out Olly King's channel. He has a couple of good informative videos about his experience with vectors on shutterstock.
awesome, I'll refer people over there when they ask about it :)
Ha, I was just watching his vids yesterday with him playing around with creating vectors.
Thank you for your valuable suggestions;helpful.
Do we need permits or identification as a photographer if you go on location shoot?
It depends on the location or event. Just check their websites beforehand.
U r doing great Nicole Glass. I like your videos you are crushing Shutterstock
I've got a sudden urge to upload dryer photos lol..
Oh boy.... 😂
I started uploading. 22pics are approved out of 100 . Still I didn't get money.
22 is not much. Try to get a few thousand good pictures up
Hello mam...I want to know which is a good video editor for stock footage..
I use Adobe Premiere Pro 😊
Wow, so that's what you look like without a hat! Eighteen hours posted and you already have 47 comments? Popular. :)
I guess the whole Idea of you telling the people your success photos, is teach them about what pictures to upload. Well, if they upload the dryer sheets, they are practicing what you teach, right?
Thanks,i am from India,i can understand your language,,,can you make video mobile photography,,,?
I already made one, go check it out :)
Thank you for your videos
Good one thanks
We understand how many images and videos you uploaded to shutter I know bit hard question how much you make monthly
No need tell us exactly but roughly
It varies month by month but it's a few hundred, will hopefully be making $1000/month soon.
Thanks 🙏
Sorry but i love your eyes.
Thanks! 👁👁
Don't teach your competition 😅👍 I am just kidding nice video very useful 🙂👍
Lol yeah, I’ve given away so many of my secrets 😅😅😅
@@NicoleGlass keep some for you. 🤐😉 next step is to make a course that you will charge and there you can say more 🤑🤑
Holaa! Kisses and hugs for you!
Your so *BEAUTIFUL* Nicole
Make your Q&A thumbnails more specific and catchy for more views. For EXAMPLE, "Apple Made a Headphone Jack DONGLE?!", instead of "Apple's Latest News + Updates August 2019". Spot why the former is better. :)
I appreciate the input. But I also do not want to deceive anyone. I can't guarantee that someone will make more $ with keywords. If their photos are terrible, keywords won't help. But I can definitely work on the specificity.
You saturated the laundry supply niche! You cost yourself untold thousands!
Ha ha true... what did I get myself into? Pretty much all of my “top sellers” were affected by me talking about them
Ive been taking photos at local laundromats for a long time. LoL. I don't know why, just something to do.
