*I hope you enjoy this detailed look around the Southern Wool Show with me and get some inspiration for your next project! It was a wonderful weekend with so many talented people, and a little visit to my Dad's village too :)* *Sending lurex sparkled vibes to all of you out there in the yarniverse!* *Ali xx*
This is wonderful to watch! I haven't been to a wool show in years. I love how Verity has knit and crochet samples like that! So much beautiful yarn!!! 34:29 😯🤯
So many beautiful yarns at the show! You sharing a drink with your dad on the bench was so sweet it brought tears to my eyes. I hope you will film some of you spinning that fleece, I would love to see how that is done. Thank you for sharing your trip. 😊
You are awesome. Thank you for the virtual tour of the festival. I don’t know if you hear it enough, but you have quite the talent for vlogging. Your style and talent bring me joy and i look forward to spending time with you whenever I see a new post.
I want all the yarn now😢. I so wish we had yarn shows here that I could go to see everything, touch it all and talk to other fibrecraft people. There just is t anything like it here but thank you for taking us to the one you went to. It looked amazing and in a way better I couldn’t go, I’d have bought way too much of everything. 🤣😂🙋🏼♀️
How wonderful! Have a great time at work in the Netherlands, I sincerely hope you have nubble free sheets and pillowcases and some time to yourself to wander around. It is very sad to lose our beautiful Queen.
Thank you so much Ros! The sheets were ok! But I did bring my own in case as well 😅Lots of talk on our work trip about the Queen. Many of my colleagues ate involved with, or have partners who are, the organisation of different aspects of the funeral, London, televising it etc so it’s been interesting to hear xx
I've so enjoyed this visit! I loved seeing the yarn festival --- I'm in the mood for Autumnal yarns as well. I had my knitting class yesterday over at The Stitchery on St. Simon's Island (off the coast of Georgia in the USA) and came home with a bag full of Autumnal yarns! Don't know what I'm going to do with them yet but they were just too lovely to walk away from! Thank you for sharing your visit to the Wool Festival with us --- it was wonderful!
Really enjoyed coming along with you Ali. Would have loved to have gone but family birthdays dictated otherwise so I shopped vicariously with you. You found some beautiful things to come home with you.
Fab, thanks for taking us around, loved looking at all the amazingly beautiful yarn and patterns too. Its certainly given me some inspiration to raid my stash. And so encouragement to save some money for my next local yarn show. 🤣 😍
Thank you for such a detailed tour. I think we missed a lot trying to get round all the stalls in a few hours, so next time can I take you with me please?! Lovely to meet you in person and the hair clip looks beautiful. See you next year Jx
Thank you, Ali, for taking us along… I’ll be attending my first yarn show (Flock & Fiber Festival, Oregon USA) in mid-October. So looking forward to it! Thanks to you, I have some idea of what to expect. I first discovered your UA-cam videos when you shared a yarn show, perhaps a year ago? 🧶 I love CROCHET. Haven’t yet mastered the knitting. Maybe next year. 🥰
So much wonderful yarn at your festival! Thanks for sharing all of that! And, what a wondeful tribute to your father at his memorial bench. That was very special- thanks for sharing that personal moment!
dont know what's up with you tube haven't had you pop up lately. i miss your face. you always make me fell better then before i watch your podcasts hello to Dan and the Kidos also. i did a sock spin in Polwarth i loved it it spun up so nicely.
Thanks so much for sharing your weekend at the wool show,, I was thinking about going as we were in Kent for the Faversham hop festival, but I reminded myself that I have enough yarn and not enough money. I really appreciated the feeling of being there without the risk of buying more stuff. I don't think that you are crazy for talking to your dad. We lost a good friend to cancer 8 years ago now, but everytime we visit his memorial bench I raise a glass to him. I tell him how my kids are and how he would get on with them. Just because they have passed they still made a big difference in our lives and are still loved and missed missed everyday. My family all hear me talk about you, Gayna and Kelly Lay and your families. Even though we have never met, I still feel like we have connected, that sounds nuts, but I hope you know what I mean. 😃💕🎃 I hope you all had a lovely time in Lancashire for your holiday. I wasn't aware they did afternoon tea at the ballroom. I will have to look into that.
Thank you so much Meg, I do know what you mean, I feel that way about the podcasters and vloggers I watch too, and my viewers who leave comments ☺️❤️xx
A great weekend, Ali. I've never been to a yarnshow, so it was lovely seeing your tour. I'd hate to think how much I'd have spent there....probably need a mortgage!!
This was such a fun video to watch! So much yarn to choose from, you made great choices! It is amazing how the love of a craft can bring complete strangers together as if you are long time friends! Thanks for taking us along!
Hi Ali , Lynn on Hubby's phone 😏, When at these wool.show's do you ever see the natural Aran wool ?, I used to be obsessed with the stuff when I was young in the eighties 😂😂, I knitted a few cardigans in the honeycomb pattern , I always did my own pattern for the cardy 😊, I knitted bags too , Loved the stuff , only trouble with wool is the bobbling 😏, loved this video 😊, thanks Ali 👍, Take Care Love xx ❤️, Wooooo I got my pin 😊, Love it 😃👍❤️xx
Hello, Ali. What a wonderfull trip you have taken us on at the southern wool show. I wished after watching, that I had enough money to fly to England 🇬🇧 and visit the show. But I didn't and your you tube channel took me there, I'm so thankfull you did the content was amazing and well documented. I at first decided I woul try to pick a favorite yarn and fiber seller, but in the end I couldn't, what wonderfull wool you have in the U.K. although I can only crochet, I love to talk anything ❤ fiber or yarn. Also thank you so much for giving out the names of the sellers and all. That was very kind and considerate of you, I now have a renewed spirit of inspiration after watching, I'm sure others 😀 will to. GOD BLESS you and family.
Loved this vlog 😊. I was sorry to have missed you at the yarn show on the Sunday, we must have been in the Grandstand whilst you were in the other part. I managed to almost keep within the budget I’d set myself 😃. I bought one of the mandalas you showed. I was so touched by your Dad’s bench. It’s seven years since my Dad died and I still try to avoid going to to his and my stepmother’s house, it makes me so sad 😢
Thank you for such a wonderfully well done video of the offerings, loved the voice over and the lists in the notes, that was such a lot of work and I truly appreciate it. I really like the gingerbread yarn but am US where is way more expensive, will search around and see what I find. Made some vanilla dk socks out of hand spun alpaca that truly keep my feet happy, could use some happy feet too. Really hope you enjoy drop spinning as much as I do, I find it is wonderful on those days when I feel so stressed am blowing apart. The feel of the roving in my left fingers stretching and spreading then springing into actual yarn as I release the spin with right hand... I do park and draft now as body issues. With dyed roving playing with how colors will spin and then again how to ply them, or deciding if should ply a different color or fiber... much less mess than dying but find that I never get as much length as I want from what I spin. don't be discouraged. Again thank you
I loved your tour around the wool show. I would definitely not have had the restraint you showed and would have come home with a truck load!!! I loved the display with the various plant-based yarns. I just bought 4 skeins of a beautiful yarn made from peppermint. It has amazing drape and is so pretty. Good luck on your drop spindle-ing (if that's a word). The colours are beautiful!
I had to watch this vlog through my fingers so I would be less tempted to click some of your links! I’m rather proud if myself for making it to the end without actually ordering anything. Since you talked about the Strictly Sock KAL while I was finishing my last pair of socks, I guess they now qualify to be entered in the KAL. Loved the “waste yarn tubes”. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Thank you for taking us all along to a yarn show, it all looked fabulous and to actually go for the whole weekend is amazing. I really understand with you took a drink of wine to your dad and raised a glass yourself. I think it's a lovely gesture and so nice to have the time to chat with him and remember all your cherished memories of you time together. Love Marion xxx
Thank you , I truly enjoyed the beautiful yarn and the explanation of the vendor hand dying information. I don’t think we have any yarn shows here in Florida, too hot.
Wow, what a feast for the eyes. I'm enjoying checking out all the websites especially those I haven't heard of before. You are making it very hard to stick to my resolve of using only stash yarn for a while! Glad you had such a great weekend!
Enjoyed this immensely, thank you for taking us along. You spending time with you dad was lovely, a great way to remember him. Great purchases, very contained 😊
Loved your visit to the yarn show. Very informative and fun. Thankyou for taking the time to share with us. Hope your Dad enjoyed your company and a little tipple 😌
I really, really enjoyed this trip to the wool show! There is nothing like it to be able to see yarns and other lovely things in person! I am so glad you enjoyed it as I certainly did watching you! It was also so moving that you were able to spend a little while on your Dads bench and be near him and enjoy a glass of wine! Will be interested if you show us your spinning efforts at some time! Take care and thank you xx
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode Ali as I am no longer able to walk round yarn shows and miss it very much. A few rows per day is all I can safely knit these days so it’s important to me to knit with the loveliest of yarns. I now have a few more ideas for purchasing yarn online having seen all the vendors you visited. A big thank you Ali. 😀❤️🐏
Thank you, I had a wonderful time! I now want to try socks on dk, that seems less intimidating. I was touched how you shared about your dad and how you shared wine with him. Cheers from Ohio.
Allie, I loved that you had a nip of 🍷 with your dad. I always take a bit of bourbon with me to the cemetery to share with my grandparents 😁. It’s always a sweet moment with 2 I miss like crazy!!
What fun! Thanks for taking us along. I watched your vlog while I exercised tonight. You made the time fly by! Can’t wait to see the yarn you spin from that wool. 🤗
Argh Jo, I meant to pop back for a proper chat with you after I picked up my lunch on Saturday, then again on Sunday and somehow I just didn’t ☹️ so sorry not to have caught up, next time! And hopefully I’ll have Dan with me too if I can drag him 😄
Enjoyed the yarn show, living in the states I'm not if there's a yarn show near me, haven't looked plus I have a craft room and a sewing room both have yarn in them which I need to think of projects. But think you might understand that every time I see a beautiful skein of yarn calling to me," take me home" they do seem to do that to needleworkers don't they?
Thanks for taking us along. Such an incredible assortment of everything yarn.Great deals. I want to buy everything. I need to learn to knit socks. Just a basic knitter right now, but you inspire. Enjoy the Netherlands. Lisa, Ontario ❤️
Ironically, the program I am involved in-Flexible assertive community treatment team for those with mental health issues- the psychiatrist and psychologist who founded the program-J.R Remmers Van Veldhuizen and Dr. Bahler live in the Netherlands. Such a small world. Lisa
Hi Ali, that was the very best yarn show visit video that I've seen. Thank you for taking us along with you. Happy spinning and other crafting. Judy, Nelson Bay, Australia.
Look at you being an enabler 😄I had to stop the video and see where I can get the WYS Christmas Yarn. I have the colourways of the last couple of years and love all my X-Mas socks 😊. Thank you for taking us along the Wool Show - that looked like a lot of fun. P.S. Have fun in Haarlem - I went there for my summer holidays a couple of times - it's fantastic! Cheers! N.
Loved watching this- thank you for taking us round with you! Definitely tempted by some autumn knit socks too - will have a look through all the links, excited to try some new yarns 😊
I’ve had such a lovely time following you through your yarn shopping 🛍 How informative, I’ve recently retired and took up knitting- on my bucket list is now a yarn hop? I believe that’s what we have here in Minneapolis MN. It will be so much fun figuring it out! Thank you for taking the time to share these with us🤗
Thank you Ally for sharing your yarn adventures at the Southern Wool Show. Love the Moulin Rouge yarn and bag. I look forward to attending yarn festivals this fall.
Thank you for sharing your Fiber Festival with us. I'll be heading to one end of October and can not wait. And how lovely that you shared a bit of your Dad. ❤
Thank you for taking us along to the show and I feel so inspired for when I go to the knitting and stitching show at Ally Pally next month. I’m hoping they will have lots of yarn and patterns similar to what you have shown us that will keep me busy in the coming months. I have started knitting my very first pair of socks for Strictly and really enjoying it. That was very emotional seeing you on your dads bench and such a lovely thing to do.
this was a lovely video. I get what you mean about picking up new hobbies, last time I went to a show I somehow came home with a beginners dyeing kit. I'm quite tempted to try spinning too, this does not bode well for coming home with no new hobbies from my next show...
Thank you Ali...I so enjoyed the tour and the effort you put into describing each shop, it's owner and what they offered! Whew..that was a lot! I must say you showed considerable restraint with your purchases.. well done you!
That was so much fun ,,Ali!!! I felt like I was there,,,,and being overwhelmed,,,,lay all the GOODNESS!,! WHAT A WONDERFUL SHOW,,, love dk socks,,so much!!!Lovely and soft and warm and fast!!! Bigger needles,,,,less stitches,,, Glad u got the dk yarn and pattern!!! And the visit to ur Dads Bench,,!!!♡♡♡ Loved it,,, Elaine 🏠🏠⛱

You are awesome. Thank you for the virtual tour of the festival. I don’t know if you hear it enough, but you have quite the talent for vlogging. Your style and talent bring me joy and i look forward to spending time with you whenever I see a new post.
I am loving your yarn show videos! As a newish knitter, this is so inspiring. Thank you very, very much!
What a fabulous job you've done listing all the patterns and suppliers...outstanding job and so helpful. Thank you.
I have never been to a wool show, only quilting shows. I am inspired!
I’ve never been to a quilting show! It was wonderful to get so much inspiration from the weekend 🧶
Such a pleasure to watch your videos while knitting, thank you for posting!
The yarns were overwhelmingly beautiful, but oh, those apples and pears!!
I want all the yarn now😢. I so wish we had yarn shows here that I could go to see everything, touch it all and talk to other fibrecraft people. What a fun vlog! I've now got the Lady Whistledown sweater in my queue! Good luck with the drop spindle!
Thank you for such a wonderfully well done video of the offerings, loved the voice over and the lists in the notes, that was such a lot of work and I truly appreciate it. I really like the gingerbread yarn but am US where is way more expensive, will search around and see what I find. That was brilliant loved it. I felt as of I was there! 😊
Thank you so much Jane! 😃
It was so fun to accompany you around the wool show! Enjoy all your purchases, especially the gorgeous fiber!
I'm a bit late in catching up but I did love going round the wool show with you. Love from a very autumnal South Australia X (it's cold)
I had to watch this vlog through my fingers so I would be less tempted to click some of your links! I’m rather proud if myself for making it to the end without actually ordering anything. What a beautiful memorial to your dad, Ali. Videos like this are why you're my favourite UA-camr 🙂
Great to come along with you Ali. You acquired some beautiful yarns and I love that Fluff. 😊
Lovely to see you - if only briefly! X

What a treat!!! Can’t wait to watch ☺️. ThNk you for being so wonderful.
Thank you so much Belinda! I hope you enjoy it :) x
Loved watching this- thank you for taking us round with you! Definitely tempted by some autumn knit socks too - will have a look through all the links, excited to try some new yarns 😊
I’ve had such a lovely time following you through your yarn shopping 🛍
How informative, I’ve recently retired and took up knitting- on my bucket list is now a yarn hop? I believe that’s what we have here in Minneapolis MN.
It will be so much fun figuring it out!
Thank you for taking the time to share these with us🤗
Thank you Ally for sharing your yarn adventures at the Southern Wool Show. Love the Moulin Rouge yarn and bag. I look forward to attending yarn festivals this fall.
Thank you Jeannie xx
Thank you for sharing your Fiber Festival with us. I'll be heading to one end of October and can not wait. And how lovely that you shared a bit of your Dad. ❤
Thank you Linda 😘
Thank you for taking us along to the show and I feel so inspired for when I go to the knitting and stitching show at Ally Pally next month. I’m hoping they will have lots of yarn and patterns similar to what you have shown us that will keep me busy in the coming months. I have started knitting my very first pair of socks for Strictly and really enjoying it. That was very emotional seeing you on your dads bench and such a lovely thing to do.
A lot of the vendors said they would be at Ally Pally, I’m hoping to go along too! 😃
this was a lovely video. I get what you mean about picking up new hobbies, last time I went to a show I somehow came home with a beginners dyeing kit. I'm quite tempted to try spinning too, this does not bode well for coming home with no new hobbies from my next show...
😅 it’s just all so tempting!
Thank you Ali...I so enjoyed the tour and the effort you put into describing each shop, it's owner and what they offered! Whew..that was a lot! I must say you showed considerable restraint with your purchases.. well done you!
Thanks Andrea! It took a while but it was like getting to go twice, so fun 😄
