The Jordan 1 'Royal' is an OG colorway that originally released in 1985 and we saw it most recently in 2017. On November 4 for $180 in the United States the Royal Reimagined is releasing, this time swapping out the familiar leather upper sole with suede and nubuck materials. How does such a significant change such a beloved colorway?

I don't know if it's just me, but the materials on this particular retro really make the colors vibrant. For example, the black nubuck strangely reminds me of how dark the black color can appear on an OLED screen, while the suede blue has an intense brightness that I'm not used to on most leather Jordans.
I guess most standard leather jordan 1s have this shiny coat on the leather that somewhat mutes the vibrancy on the panels, whereas the nubuck and suede really intensify the colors.
Obviously the previous, leather royals are true to the original, but I'm really digging how the colors on this pair really pop. It certainly gives this particular shoe a different spin, despite it still being an OG color way.

It’s definitely a tough decision…..but I always loved the Royal 1s especially the 2001 retro.

Bred alllllday errrrrday but the Royal is cool.
I was able to grab a pair for $165 shipped and I’m definitely gonna grab a second pair once they get heavily discounted.
I usually find Jordan 1s to be very comfortable but not as comfortable as Jordan 3s👍🏾
I went with the blue laces because I never use black laces in my Jordan 1s😏
