In real life, kangana used to see priyanka as showstopper and get inspired because back then kangana used to work as a normal model. But then kangana became an actress and in the film, priyanka sees kangana as showstopper and gets inspired. This is like a full circle💖

Kangana's first walk in the movie is so iconic. I remember first time watching it and my jaw dropping.
Its kind of ironic that Bollywood biggies tried to screw both Priyanka and Kangana, like they did it in this movie. But both came out of it strong and are shining today.

I was in my early teens and was completely blown away by this movie and Priyanka's performance at the time, still remember the feeling i got.
I think we must give Priyanka her credit for this movie. She was advice by the majority of the industry to not do fashion. Because she would have to headline the movie alone as a commercial actress, without the support of a big commercial Hero and she was only 2-3 years old in the industry. And also because they believed actresses do this once they stop getting work with the heros. So for her to do this was a big thing cause most actresses of Priyanka's commercial standard & viability wouldn't consider doing a movie like this, alone.
Her first film came in 2002 and fashion was 2008, so she had spent close to 6 years in the industry buddy, not 2-3 years :)
@@anilatarannum nope! Correction - Priyanka's BOLLYWOOD debute happened in 2003 and not in 2002. Priyanka confirmed that fashion was officially offered to her when she had hardly spent 2-3 years in the industry as an actress. The reason why there were so many years in between is because fashion took time to be written and to be made. Priyanka was even part of the writing and character development process of Meghna. Hence, 2008 is not the count we can take when it comes to fashion and the time when Priyanka officially signed fashion. So you might wanna fact check on the details there buddy ;)

@@mrohan4 I'm not sure how accurate is that. Because before fashion, in 2006. She had Don & Krish which were massive hits. And in 2007 she only had 2 releases. Which weren't huge hits. So we can't say fashion have her career a resurgence. It sure changed her commercial viability and made her a much more successful actress. Infact, fashion was a huge risk for Priyanka at the time. But fortunately it worked out.

People fight who did better than whom, but the reality is all of them performed amazingly thats why it became probably the first ever female centric movie to become a box office hit. Both Priyanka and kangana are brilliant actresses , both of them won national award for the movie. and yes that line priyanka says in the lift is something i always never. This movie is also life lesson that no matter how successful you become always stay humble and respect the people who helped you get that success.
Before this movie Priyanka was mostly a pretty face used for glamour and stardom (Aitraaz was the only exception here ) but this movie established herself as an actor and she got the National award.

A part of Kangana’s story is inspired by the model Geetanjali Nagpal’s real life story related to success, addiction, failures resulting in forcing her to beg in streets.
Kangana’s story here is a tragedy but some part of it is inspired by Geetanjali’s real story.
You must also watch movie - Page 3 (2005). It is also directed by the director of movie Fashion. Page 3 is also a very good movie, it explores dark side of film industry and celebrity culture

Yes, you're right. You know the moment I read "he became an outcast" in your comment , it reminded me of that signature SRK laugh when Madhur puts him and Saif on the spot at an award function for making fun of everyone; SRK ( laughed in his typical Don-ly manner in return and ) said something like " tum jao aur fashion Jaisee hard hitting movies bnao" ( go and make hard hitting movies like Fashion as your sense of humor sucks) , which was to mock Madhur down.
Now don't get me wrong , I am a huge SRK fan but Bollywoodists egos are so low that they're gonna attack you as if it's a Jungle, they're the Lions and you're any small animal. So petty!!

Soo nice. And i cried at last scene. This is so good. I could relate to this movie. Though i have nothing to do with modeling, I'm a student still. But i could relate with universal themes in this movie. As humans, we all have tendency to get swept off our feet if we blindly follow our ambitions and the fire inside is too much. It tells us to take care of ourselves and take breaks. Bcz a sound mind is in sound body. You can't be happy if your not healthy, and if you can't be happy it will affect your relationships. And yes, mom and dad are the most loyal of relationships.
