I'm sorry Shanon for the behavior of an ignorant person who make you feel sad. However this kind of behavior can be expected in a country which was in war for more than 4 decades. Be brave as you were before dont take it too much on heart just forget it.
🇮🇪 here, been watching your videos for a while! Ive travelled widely and am proud you went to Afghanistan! No its not a tourist destination but showing it off as you've done is fantastic 🎉! Each country has it's rulers, good and bad but it's the people who are at the heart of the place! Lovely video!!!
There are assholes in every society who can ruin someone’s day. Afghan culture does not dictate that men should treat women negatively, nor does the religion of Islam (especially if they are guests). If someone prefers not to engage in conversation with a woman, they may simply ignore her presence or consult a male relative or companion instead. I hope the rest of your stay was enjoyable!
The fundamental ideology based on which Islam was founded was to make the female a slave of the man and eradicate all Kuffar / non-Believers. Thank you Alan and Shannon visiting Afghanistan, don’t worry not all of them are the same, that guy was an idiot.. Afghans are the most great and they have great hospitality in the world. I apologize on behave of that idiot.. once again thank you for visiting Afghanistan.. much love ❤️
Welcome to Afghanistan, I'm sorry that what happened, 1st he wasn't Talib, 2nd maybe he lost his family members in NATO and the USA, bumping, still it's his fault he should act like that because everyone is not the same, enjoy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don't lie please. He was behaving like a piece of sh**t and most of the Kaliban (Kalb means dog in Arabic btw) behave in this same way. When the US and NATO were in Afghanistan, Afghans from the neighboring countries were coming back to the country in their millions especially during the fist five years of the US presence when the Kaliban had not started making the country insecure. If we have a referendum today, I bet that 95% of Afghan people would vote to bring back the US troops and get rid of the current oppressive regime. Seven million people fleeing the country in three years since the take over of the country by the Kaliban tells a lot.

If you feel that way, just confront them right away! People should know their limits. Stay safe ❤
I am sorry for that feelings that guy gave you. I am an Afghan who lives in Southern California for a while. Taliban and their lifestyle has nothing to do with most kind and hospitable people. We are as horrified by these people as everyone else. For now my people have no other choice but to live with all these horrible policies. I am as an Persian afghan American admire you and Alan who took time to visit my homeland
Shannon, As a citizen of Afghanistan from the North and as an Uzbek, please accept my apologies for the way the uncivilized Talib man treated you. I just want you to know that he can not and does not represent us in any way and ordinary people on the streets as you see are amazing and hospitable and have no issue with women. These Taliban men are grown up and some were born in Pakistan and spent many years in the mountains, therefore, for them seeing women talking to them is something strange and unusual.
With all the western propaganda bad mouthing Afghanistan, it is expected people don't like westerners filming. But you guys are doing a great job of showing the lies of the western media, showing Afghanistan is a great country.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with that Taliban. I would have felt down as well if someone talked to me in a such an argessive manner. Probably the Taliban fought with western army during the war and developed some sort of hatred towards westerners. Also this Taliban may suffer from PTSD. We will never know the reasons for his unusual aggressive conduct.
As someone who has lived their entire life in Afghanistan, I can assure everyone that traveling safely across the country is entirely possible. Afghanistan is filled with incredible places to visit, and its people are welcoming and hospitable. Regarding the man’s behavior in the video, it’s likely he was joking, as he initially welcomed Alan warmly. From my understanding of Afghan culture and its diverse customs, this reaction could also be attributed to discomfort with being filmed. In Afghan culture, filming someone-particularly without permission-can be sensitive, especially when done by women. It’s essential to remember that each country has its unique cultural expectations and rules. Although there are individuals who may react this way, they represent only a small percentage of the population.

This comment is for Alan & Shannon, and those who’ve already commented/will comment in the future about the micro-problem of women not being allowed to talk in certain circumstances in Afghanistan. Again, this is a micro-problem. It is a piece of certain parts of Islamic culture, still found in many places today, but is millennia old. Wilst traveling to places like Kabul/Afghanistan as a tourist, it is the tourist’s responsibility to understand, and abide by the local customs and culture that is set in place…to respect it, though you may not agree with it based off of your own personal values, ethics, or beliefs. It’s like the wrestler “The Rock” is famous for saying: ‘Know your role, and shut your mouth.” What should be focused on instead is the macro-problem that places like Kabul/Afghanistan, and other places/countries have endured: the philosophy of Western Imperialism, where which the main goal is cultural gen.cide, then control that place/area/country/region by inserting permanent, Western military installations, or fund other groups to do the West’s bidding. That’s what we’re trying to do in Iran, what we’ve done in countless other countries, why we are fighting for Ukraine, and it’s all being done for $, or Western global dominance/hegemony through the continuation of the USD fiat monetary system, aka the maintaining of our global reserve currency dominance. Furthermore, at 1:56 just ask yourself, doesn’t it seem funny that the US/the global West supported Al-Q with food, equipment, weaponry etc., to again, do the West’s bidding and take over Afghanistan? Fast forward to the 1 minute 56 mark of this video and beyond, and ONLY 5 years later Al-Q is named by the West as the ones who orchestrated nine ll?! Why would the same group that was being fed by the West, suddenly turn around and bite the hand that is feeding them?? Seriously, think about that. All of the suspects supplied to us by the media (which is bought and paid for by the US government/special interest groups that pay the US government) were supposedly members of Al-Q. Al-Q leader O. B. Laden is known to be a see eye A operative at one point in his life, essentially then a double agent, working for the US government, and subsequently given the title of the leader of Al-Q. Those aforementioned nine ll suspects were manufactured propaganda of the West, just like weapons of mass deestruktion were “in, and possessed by Iraq,” and that lie, that manipulation was forced upon the world, in order to justify the US’s invasion of Iraq…why, for oil, which at this point in the comment we know is for control of the $, which = power. The end.
@@SAT1337 thank you. Somebody had to speak more elaborately on it…the way I did, with the truth being told. Most of this (western) world is too concerned with the self. Many of them are uninformed/misinformed/propagandized on top of it. Dig deep people. Seek truth from digging in on your sources of info. Who backs the sources, why the source says what it says/how it says it, etc. The only way we can change the world is through universally REAL truths.
This isn't Afghan Native culture. This is Arab Islamic culture. Afghanistan was forcefully converted to Islam. Before Islam, there was Buddhism. In Buddhist culture Women were treated perfect equals to men. But when Islamist invasion happened in Afghanistan, the men started disrespecting women and forced them to cover up, same as in Arabia.
It's also important for outsiders to call-out inequalities, social injustice, patriarchal systems, and violation of human rights. Banning women from education, most professions, and even speaking never results in a better society. Afghanistan now ranks among the world’s countries with the highest rates of gender-based violence (rape, beatings, acid attacks, mental and physical abuse, little to no health care)- *all enabled* by what you are advising to accept and equivalent to _gender apartheid_ .
@@gods-best-friend-gbf It may have been one way once upon a time, however it changed,. Is it worth going into all out war over? Such people are everywhere, in every country in the world. That’s not how most Afghan men would try respond to you if you wanna talk to them and they don’t.

Bro, I am so sorry to hear about your feelings and I fully understand you. The current regime has turned Afghanistan into a hell on earth. People are fleeing the country in their millions. I wonder how some idiots in the comments are defending these animals while they themselves enjoy freedom in the west.
@@WordsofHonesty Thanks for your comment, I believe most of people defending these animals are single men that are illegal immigrants living in different parts of europe, they actually don't know what women and lower class people are going through in afghanistan with no basic human rights and other facilities in their life We left afghanistan a almost over a decade ago before taliban regime and i have visited back 2 or 3 times after we left afghanistan, it was bad but i can imagine it would be worse now God help us all.
@@WordsofHonesty No one is defending the current administration and its oppressive regime. However, we must recognize who contributed to its return. If justice had prevailed, corruption would have been curtailed, and drug mafias and warlords would not have been allowed to run the country, the current administration would likely never have succeeded. Billions of dollars in aid were stolen, and over four million Afghans were pushed into drug addiction, while kidnapping and rape became daily realities-no one was safe. These conditions played a significant role in the return to the current state. Regarding the refugee crisis, Afghans have been seeking refugee status for over four decades( over 12 millions Afghans sought refugees status over the past four decades); this is not a new issue.
not all the talibans are the same there is 70k-80k Taliban Afghan fighters. they are not all the same, they are from different types of tribes and they have different types of culture within the tribes. but one thing they hold on is that unite against colonialism and invasion protecting their Nation. also some talebans are orphan, because they lost their parents and USA+NATO killed hundreds of thousands of people. they have built a very harsh mind because of 43 years of war. also they are little bit extremist they justify their pagan cultural practices by using Islamic teaching with their own translation. there is taliban's who are agree with womens going to University. then there is others who don't agree. there is talibans who are very friendly with foreigners and they like to getting films, and there is others who don't like foreigners and don't like to getting films.

also my 3rd comment Talibans Are Little Extremist, They Have Some Pagan Culture practices and they try to justify with Islamic teachings. also another thing talibans and afgan people they bulit a very harsh mind becuz 43 years of war.

Exactly they didn't showed any proper clip the 1sec clip can't prove anything of what incident had happened that time. If they have to play victim then atleast public the whole moment when the man started arguing with them.
I was in Afghanistan 50 years ago. I kept to my head down, didn't look at men, didn't address men, didn't expect them to talk to me. It was in no way enjoyable but that's the way it worked for women back then, and it hasn't got better.
When my wife first came to England, she was shocked at some people making rude remarks and racist comments to her. In an age of internet some people are still backwards in the UK.
You only showed the positive things in Afghanistan you didn't show the negative aspect of Afghanistan You didn't show the poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, poor construction, and restrictions.
She wasn't making a documentary; she was there to enjoy and experience Afghan culture. Poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy exist in every country, including the one she lives in.
not all the talibans are the same there is 70k-80k Taliban Afghan fighters. they are not all the same, they are from different types of tribes and they have different types of culture within the tribes. but one thing they hold on is that unite against colonialism and invasion protecting their Nation. also some talebans are orphan, because they lost their parents and USA+NATO killed hundreds of thousands of people. they have built a very harsh mind because of 43 years of war. also they are little bit extremist they justify their pagan cultural practices by using Islamic teaching with their own translation. there is taliban's who are agree with womens going to University. then there is others who don't agree. there is talibans who are very friendly with foreigners and they like to getting films, and there is others who don't like foreigners and don't like to getting films.
Even in Germany u can’t record anyone without permission If u put camera on their faces without any permission is not well So don’t do this for viewers
You had a few mistakes on who the Taliban are. The Taliban were not funded by the US to fight the Soviets, The Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan in the late 80s while the Taliban were formed during the Afghan civil war in 1993. The Taliban didn’t receive funding from Pakistan or The US, The US and Pakistan funded Mujahideen factions in the 1980s to fight the Soviets, The main faction that the US and Pakistan funded were the NRF, Led by Ahmed Shah Massoud, His group was a prime enemy of the Taliban during the 1990s

Your information on the Taliban is a little misguided. The word "Talib" means students. When some so called gangsters/drug lords kidnapped some girls from a village the women of that village went to their local Madrasa/Islamic school/University. They explained that there was no one willing to help them and that they had no means to free their relatives. One of the senior students named Muhammad Omar aka Mulla Omar came to form the Taliban. Here is Ai synopsis: The Taliban’s emergence in Afghanistan is often traced back to incidents in 1994 around Kandahar, where the group's leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, sought to address rising insecurity. One pivotal event involved the reported abduction of two girls by local commanders. Mullah Omar, along with a small group of his students, intervened to rescue the girls, taking action against the commanders involved. This intervention earned the support of many locals who were frustrated with the widespread lawlessness. Following this event, Omar’s group, calling themselves the Taliban (meaning "students" in Pashto), attracted more followers who shared a desire to restore stability in the region. The movement expanded rapidly, gaining control of key areas, and by 1996, the Taliban captured Kabul. They then governed most of Afghanistan based on their interpretation of Islamic principles until 2001.
Islam is the reason for all of this. The hostility that this Ideology creates towards women is why behavior like this exist.
The fundamental ideology based on which Islam was founded was to make the female a slave of the man and eradicate all Kuffar / non-Believers. There are 1000s of Ayats and Surahs from Quran and Hadiths.

It’s like the wrestler “The Rock” is famous for saying: ‘Know your role, and shut your mouth.”
What should be focused on instead is the macro-problem that places like Kabul/Afghanistan, and other places/countries have endured: the philosophy of Western Imperialism, where which the main goal is cultural gen.cide, then control that place/area/country/region by inserting permanent, Western military installations, or fund other groups to do the West’s bidding.
The end.
Really well written and insightful comment. Kudos
Maybe for some, but I bet more people would be in favor of fighting to keep out the foreign invaders…oh wait, foreign invaders have a 100%, overall loss record there in war. Religious/Ideological war…that’s a ying and yang as old as the religion(s) involved have existed. Good luck with that.

You have experienced for the first time that taliban did this
What about Afghanistan women the will face everyday 🤔 😭
not all the talibans are the same
there is 70k-80k Taliban Afghan fighters. they are not all the same, they are from different types of tribes and they have different types of culture within the tribes. but one thing they hold on is that unite against colonialism and invasion protecting their Nation.
also some talebans are orphan, because they lost their parents and USA+NATO killed hundreds of thousands of people.
they have built a very harsh mind because of 43 years of war.
also they are little bit extremist they justify their pagan cultural practices by using Islamic teaching with their own translation.

@@mujahidhasan118 They are almost all the same. They have banned women from education, work and every walk of life. People are missing the days when the US/NATO were present in Afghanistan. The country was doing well economically during those days and Afghans had the chance to get education. I bet that if we have a referendum tomorrow, 95% of Afghans would vote to bring the US troops back to the country to help them get rid of the current regime. Facts are facts.

18:15 complete trash talk right there only shortly after Shannon hat that fearful incident with the taliban.
I suppose you could argue he's playing safe(while he's still in the country),so's not to ruffle any more feathers.Would like to hear what he has to say once he returns home...
Do you want us to tell a random stranger we just met and will never see again that another random stranger was rude to us before 😂😂😂
@@Alan_and_Shannon Sure. When I was in Bangkok lately a local asked how I like the city and I told him that the pollution felt very bad for me. What‘s the matter? You prefer lying?
@@Alan_and_Shannon You both should do what feels safe. Women on the planet in general never feel truly "safe" walking out the door because we've had to normalize feeling unsafe to the point of subconscious but very intentional behavior in order to survive. I highly suggest watching the TedTalk "Violence against women -- it's a men's issue" by Jackson Katz. You can quickly see the difference in how men and women experience the world.
@@Sleepy_Joe_ They are not obligated to tell others of negative experiences to people they meet- _unless they want to._ Sometimes the quickest method by which to move on from something is to put it behind you and not keep bringing it up. They also know this would be in important issue in their video about this trip so they can express themselves on their terms.
I’m so sorry. Because of the action of one person, everyone gets humiliated. Our country becomes humiliated. This unfortunately, is a small fraction of what most afghan women face without any consequences or judgement.
You are definitely in the wrong here, please don’t over exaggerate for views. A lot worse happens in other countries
Many people work for Western intelligence and go to such countries for propaganda.

Due to the fact that the Taliban needs the recognition of their government by the countries of the world, they try to behave very well with foreign tourists and show a beautiful image of themselves and their government to foreign tourists, especially those who are UA-camrs and streamers. They record their journey and show it, but the behavior of the Taliban towards the people of Afghanistan, especially the non-Pashtun ethnic groups of Afghanistan, is very brutal, discriminatory and inhumane, especially with the Hazara ethnic group, who are religiously different from the Taliban and follow the Shia religion, and there are many atrocities and crimes. They do it every week but every day in front of them, which are countless and it is impossible to say and write them here, and people inside Afghanistan cannot talk about the crimes and atrocities of the Taliban with foreign tourists because they are afraid of being arrested, tortured and killed. Well , I think she was not in the full modest position i.e the burka as normal Afghani woman wear and it felt disrespectful to that man as she was roaming out of dress code as it is not promoted in their society therfore he gave a stern look otherwise he would be punished if he mistreated any women like this but the mistake was her not knowing their strict culture and commitment to their conservation of values if I was in her place I would have chosen burka ( the veil) . Its an opinion I could be wrong tho
loads of woman were dressed the same as Shannon was
@cheeseoreos493: Look up "Taliban injustice women" and you will learn why. Banning women from education, most professions, and even speaking never results in a better society. Afghanistan now ranks among the world’s countries with the highest rates of gender-based violence (rape, beatings, acid attacks, mental and physical abuse, little to no health care)- all enabled by a certain group in power and resulting in gender apartheid in many places.
@@Alan_and_Shannon I can't agree with you 100% on dress code to be honest but by the way I didn't like his terrifying stare either it's not a representation of Afghani culture or Islam which has humbleness and mercy at it's core but world is full of hateful people I think ignoring their hate would be best option and to acknowledge the kindness and politeness of other afghans and muslim around the World .

@@Alan_and_Shannon There is no doubt that the people of Afghanistan are hospitable, they consider anyone who visits their country as their guest and they treat them very kindly and even many of them take foreign tourists to their homes and treat them like a guest. Dear, they welcome them, but I mean the overwhelming majority of the people of Afghanistan, and there may be a very small number of bad people in Afghanistan, just like anywhere in the world, who want to abuse foreigners or deceive them and take their money. They steal, this is a natural thing, but the story of the Taliban is different. They are really a violent, fanatical, ethnic, and criminal group, and the reason they behave well with foreign tourists is because they need to be recognized by the countries of the world. They try to behave well with foreign tourists in order to show a good and beautiful face of themselves to the world, but their behavior with the people of Afghanistan, especially the non-Pashtun ethnic groups of Afghanistan, and especially the Hazaras, is very bad and violent and discriminatory, and the people also because of the environment The repression and terror created by the Taliban cannot tell the truth to foreign tourists because they are afraid of the Taliban's punishment and revenge, and the Taliban have committed and continue to commit many crimes, oppression, and discrimination against the Hazara people, such as genocides. killings and usurping the areas and lands of their villages in different provinces and regions of Afghanistan, as well as destroying their houses on various pretexts, such as non-standard or usurped or state ownership of their lands, as well as destroying and destroying the crops and products of the Hazara people by The Pashtun nomads who, with the support of the Taliban, sent their large herds of goats, sheep and camels to the Hazara areas in order to graze and destroy the Hazaras, which is the result of their one-year hard work, under the pretext of grazing their flocks in the mountains and plains, as well as the coercion of the Taliban. A lot of money by Taliban continues from Hazaras under different pretexts, as well as harassing Hazaras under the pretext of having or hiding weapons and taking money and extorting money from them under the same pretext. are doing that it is impossible to really say or write all those atrocities, crimes and discriminations in this ambush and in this short text, and also these oppressions against the Tajik and Wazik ethnic groups continue by the Taliban, who themselves are (99) percent Pashtuns. The end with a smaller scale is milder and the oppression and discrimination against the Hazaras is more severe because they are not only ethnically but also religiously different from the Taliban and follow the Shiite religion.

Your fake story/ lies, "Hazaras," can not hoodwing people anymore. I have many nonPashtun friends from Afghanistan who are very happy with the new Afghan government now. They say, "Afghanistan is a very safe country for everyone now".
War ended in Afghanistan. People are not dying anymore in Afghanistan because of the war.
But Some "Hazaras," and Kulabians, "Tajiks," who do not call themselves Afghans want to bring war to Afghanistan again. Hazaras who are supported by Iran and Pakistan want to break Afghanistan, want to create Hazaristan. Kulabians, "Tajiks," who are supported by Pakistan and Tajikistan want give Afghanistan's land to Tajikistan. They are both separatist groups.

Here is Ai synopsis:
The Taliban’s emergence in Afghanistan is often traced back to incidents in 1994 around Kandahar, where the group's leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, sought to address rising insecurity.
