- Georgia Gibbs sings a medley of her hit recordings, including "Ballin' The Jack," "Tweedle Dee," "Arrivederci Roma," "Dance With Me Henry" and "Kiss of Fire," in this rare 1984 TV appearance. She also opens with the vaudeville classic "Keep Smiling at Trouble".
Ohh....."Kiss of Fire!" What a song! What a delivery!
She's great. Can really belt out songs, even 15-20 years after retiring. She's a great performer, too.
What a great performer. Underrated and envied by many more publicly acknowledged singers of the 1950s. Fondly remembered!
It's so great to see her singing later in life. What a great medley this is, and she's still on top of her game long after the 50's.
My dear late friend Jody Gibson and her sister Amy Gibson’s aunt. Was such a terrific singer and beautiful soul 💖❤️ R.I.P. 😢
Born to be everlasting, Georgia ❤
She would've been in her sixties, here, and sounded exactly like she did thirty years earlier.
What a great voice!!
I always be a fan
Wow her voice hadn't changed much, if at all! So beautiful so blessed to have seen this!
She's a show stopper! Awesome!
One of the very BEST ! A terrific performer who knows how to hold us in the palm of her hand. I remember seeing her as a kid at the Chicago Theater. Great chops !!!
Such a damn fantastic singer, they don't make 'em like her anymore! Wish I could have seen her, oh well this is still fab to have........Lots of love from Perth, Australia!
I can make a case for Georgia being the best female vocalist of the 50s. What a talent.
She is one of the best .
I like Connie and Joni .
I suppose Connie is more 1960s , which she owned .
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
I never heard of her until today. I saw her on the Jack Benny shower of stars from 1957. She reminds me of Ottilie Patterson the late Irish blues singer. Both had great "pure" natural voices.
Loved it...thanks
Thanks again, Mr. Eichler, for sharing all these treasures with us! Best Wishes from Germany, Thomas Ludwig
Ashamed to say I only just found Georgia after listening to Carsie Blanton’s excellent version of The Laziest Girl in Town and looking for the original. This is such a great video. Thank you for publishing. 🤗🤗🤗
Wow. Wow. I. Love. This. Song.
One of my favorites!!!!!
Great
09:00 kiss of fire

I THOUGHT SHE WAS A BLACK SINGER
Gibbs covered a couple hits originally released by black artists (Etta James - Roll with me Henry & Lavern Bakers - Tweedle Dee) so that may be where the confusion came from. It was a common practice of the time, R&B chart toppers were covered to become Pop chart toppers.
She was Jewish. (Nee Fredda Lipson).
