Such beautiful imperials. Having those cars restored and exhibited at shows and cruiser nights would be so much more exciting than any boring Chevy or Ford.
Just literally breaks my heart!!! Love Imperials at least someone has a very rare lot full of them. Turners in Fresno CA. Ill be in touch when I need parts guaranteed and THANK YOU FOR THIS VID, Now I know where to go.
Turners is one of the BEST junk yards in the World..I bought a 1970 442 from Jerry in 1985 and he is the nicest guy to deal with. !!! ...These cars are in the dry climate of Fresno..lots of rust free cars.
Paradise for demo derby drivers. Most of these cars look restoreable. I was born in 03 so I really don't remember these cars as daily drivers. I love seeing them at car shows. I have a family friend who has been full of classic cars including a 62 imperial 4 door 60 pink Cadillac. I love big old boats.
"Chrysler Imperial" was a misnomer. Imperial was a separate make as was Chrysler, Cadillac, Lincoln etc. Imperial was built by the Chrysler Corporation but was not part of the Chrysler line.
This is incredible, all these (once beautiful) Chrysler Imperials and Imperials. Wow I hear yall Robert "Imperials as far as the eye can. A sight to behold, but I can only watch this video with a bottle of Prozac LOL
I just wonder if there’s a 1973 Imperial LeBaron Coupe in this place somewhere. There was only about 2,500 or so, of the 73 Imperial Coupes, produced so not many left today. If possible to locate and fully restored, would be very rear and collectible, I would imagine. It would be great to see one rescued, and back on the road again. Do Americans consider the 73 Imperials as classic cars......please give me your thoughts on this.
Maybe collectible, not classic, Chrysler quality control wasn't very good in the 70s, why they approached bankruptcy, till Lee Iacocca begged Congress for help.
They didn't offer an Imperial coupe in 1973 only the LeBaron four door hardtop and two door hardtop. The last coupe Imperial made was the 1970 Imperial LeBaron and Crown two door.
Paul Palmtree In the 1976 movie “The Sunshine Boys”, starring George Burns and Walter Matthau, the George Burns character owned a 1973 Imperial (shown in the movie) and praised it as a “good car”. No doubt this was an obvious product placement.
In the 50's and 60's, these were the top American luxury car you could get. Though they sold in fewer numbers than the flagship Cadillacs, they were considered better engineered. Of course, as the Chrysler Corp's troubles increased, the Chrysler brand suffered (I'd argue too the brand suffers a name identity crisis). This is the era of the Chrysler brand that the new CEO refers to when he states it will once again compete in the full luxury market.
Oh, Thank you very much for the nice Video about this amazing yard with all the beautiful classic cars! :) Does this yard still exist???? Because I really love classic car junk yards, i think this are the beautiful places with their own romantic feeling about the better, nicer old cars & are a place to dream about the next project, to make the next restoration of a car. They're still so importand to restoring a vintage car or to get a car from a place like this to Start a restoration, that's the most importand thing about this places i think (also to get the parts for a restoration, too!) :) I see you're also looking at the 4 Doors, that's cool! :) Because I love the 4 Doors, especially the 4 Door Hardtop's without the B-pillars - this is my favorite bodystyle! ;) I'm still restoring a 67 Chevy Caprice 4 Door Hardtop... I'm also looking for parts for this restoration. It's a/my father son project and i'm also looking for safe classic cars. Even the 4 Doors are the cars what are too often not importand for most of the car guys... :( That's sad because I think the 4 Doors are the most importand classic cars, back in the days they was everywhere and they could show the historic look at the streets of america. But today it's even so that you could see and find the 2 Doors everywhere when you look about classic cars. Not many 4 Doors, that's sad i think. Also when people even uses good 4 Doors for PartsCars. 4 Doors what could easy restored. But also 4 Doors in Not good condition are worth to restore. Non other car shows "the american way of drive" so good like a fullsize Chevy, Mopar or Ford... especially with 4 Doors i think! ;) I hope the other car guys will also rescue abanoned 4 doors.... They're so great, so large and often had the nicer roof lines in the fullsize cars... I hopes the yard at the video still exist and the most cars will be safed for future....
I would have to put a good wheel and tire on the junk yard truck, that noise, every time you drive, is just irritating. Love the old Imperial’s, some excellent restoration cars 🚗.
This is so sad to see. My favorite Chrysler of all and think at one time all these cars were brand new and cruising down the great American landscape. And today many of them are sitting here in this salvage yard.
I have a 61 Imperial Le baron . one of only 1426 i believe ever made . mines dark mettalic blue . I seen at least two of um in your background a mint low mile car went for 70 k on Barret last year .
Might visit this spot when I get older I'm in Fresno right now buy live in santa and hoping to see a 1959 chevy impala or 58 if not a bomb or 1959 bel air
+javier hernandez - Hey Javier, How did you fair at Turner's Wrecking in Fresno ? I just wondered if you might have taken any pix of the place now. bro ?? Good luck anyway & Peace = )
American V8 engines De Soto Fire Dome V8 engine, at the 1952 LA Auto Show A General Motors V8 engine in a Tauro Sport Auto V8 Spider A full decade after Britain's 1904 Rolls-Royce Legalimit, Cadillac produced the first American V8 engine, the 1914 L-Head. It was a complicated hand-built unit with cast iron paired closed-head cylinders bolted to an aluminum crankcase, and it used a flat-plane crankshaft. Peerless followed, introducing a V8 licensed from amusement park manufacturer, Herschell-Spillman, the next year. Chevrolet produced a crude overhead valve V8 in 1917, in which the valve gear was completely exposed. It only lasted through 1918 and Chevrolet would not produce another V8 until the introduction of the small block in 1955.
Next time look to see how many miles, they say "they don't make them like they use to" its a good they don't, most of those cars never made it to 100,000 miles .
No you can not tell that way for every time they go 100,000 miles they odometer starts at 0. I have a 1970 Chrysler Newport Custom and it went around 2 times currently, 239,000 miles. Still running strong!

I notice you did not mention Plymouth. ;)
Those Imperials were probably parked in front of homes in Beverly Hills, Brentwood etc when new....

Make me cry ... I love Imperial

Imperial cars were banned from demolition derbies decades ago because they were just too tough to take down.
I love watching the videos you post. Always enjoy them.

Yes, you are correct and the sheet metal was a thicker gage and the chrome went through a 3 stage process.
Imperial, proudest achievement of Chrysler Corporation.
@@tonytrotta9322 It shows on the 1929-1968 years. After 1968 they got sketchy, but Chrysler Corp was starting to lose big money by then.
This is incredible, all these (once beautiful) Chrysler Imperials and Imperials. Wow I hear yall Robert "Imperials as far as the eye can. A sight to behold, but I can only watch this video with a bottle of Prozac LOL
Look at all of those Chryslers!! Love it.

Yes they are. I had a great time walking around and checking out all the cool old cars.

Bonnie & Clyde didn't only steal Fords. But when they did, it was because they didn't want to wreck a Chevy or a Dodge.
