I'm a little late but yes, that is accurate. Northern Italy was under German control by proxy, the Italian Socialist Republic was its official name. Basically the Vichy France of Italy.
It was called "Italian Socialist Republic" (that had nothing to do with socialism by the way). It was opposed to the Southern Kingdom of Italy during the Italian Civil War.
i think the italian planes biggest strength is that not a lot of people know what it is, how it behaves, and how to counterplay it, which is a huge advantage against the common player, especially in a gamemode where knowing your enemy is the absolute key to winning a dogfight against them
That’s a great point. I’ve definitely been in that position plenty of times myself where I don’t exactly know the performance of my opponents aircraft.
Which is a good reason to grind out every tech tree, to know how to deal with each aircraft you face. Still having trouble at high tier props with Ta-152s, so that’s the line I’m going after currently

Yes, the Germans found the Fiat to be better in almost every regard, especially while allied strategic bombing occurred. The General Staff/Luftwaffe funded a study, they found that a Fiat would take 40% more man hours for each plane, 'Military Aviation' has a good video covering this.
@getehrwolf6111 Yeah, as were the Wehrmacht's ordinance/ procurement department, or at least in the anti-tank cannons realm. For years, German industry continued to manufacture and equip Panzer IIIs with the 37mm, aka "the door knocker," which, as you know, are almost completely useless against T-34s. Hitler himself ordered the change, but it switching to the production of the 50 & 75mm anti-tank cannons would have cut into the companies' profits; so they went against Dolf's orders. *A very costly mistake
@@jayklink851 Easy to blame the resistance of german industry to Adolfs orders on "profit" - actually a lot of germans tried to sabotage Hitlers war machine like that, risking to be executed by SS and some industrialists were shot indeed.
Yeah... back when faction matchmaking was still a thing, the G.55 series was the bane of my existence in anything I flew. Their maneuvering characteristics were so small, that it made fighting the Axis even worse of an experience, since good pilots could even hold their own against the more maneuverable Allied planes. It also still had stupid good climb rate. I made the decision to buy the G.55S back when it was still 4.7. Those were absolutely stupid days. It just printed so much SL for so little effort. The only thing this plane lacked was speed.
This one was, but the rest weren't. Not only were the G.50 and C.200 slow, they also had a dangerous habit of entering uncontrollable spins. Until the G.55, Italian planes had very light armament, so they couldn't actually inflict damage quickly enough to shoot down a soviet or US plane
G.55s are all fun to play with, my personal favorite being the premium G.55S. It's just unfortunate that the repair cost for the G.56 is so high or at least it was when I grinded out the Italian tree
Speaking of fun planes, the premium Ki-44 otsu with the twin 40mm grenade launchers is also very fun. The cannons have like 270m/s muzzle velocity so you have to basically be at point blank to fire. But besides that it is still twin 40mm that vaporizes anything on first contact.
Despite being (relatively) slow in straight line, the g55s and it's successors make some of the best boom and zoom props in the entire game, vastly outdiving 109s and p47s and being literally impossible to reverse for how little they compress.
Nice video, I was just wondering, why is this plane so uptiered in all the video? Like Yak3U wtf, F2Gs :V I would spect this oponets to be more mixed with the G.56
Thoughts on premium G55? Got taht one about a 1.5 year ago thinking ill grind pizza bois but i was super disappointed in that, bad climb, bad speed bad turn. It have 3 20mms but i suck ass with german guns for some reason as well. Had like 30 games in it and it collect dust ever since
The G55S premium is the plane that made me the most SL, typical 3 kills a match when it was 4.7 BR, used to continually give me 100k SL a match with premium. Amazing turn, amazing guns, great low alt performance, good energy retention, fantastic rudder. Basically plays like a Yak with better guns, it doesn't have the UFO flight models of the Yaks but it's similar...it doesn't accelerate as fast or retain energy as (unrealistically) good as the Yaks, but it dives better and is a more stable gun platform and it has lot more ammo. It's at 5.0 now which makes it sort of disappointing, in a downtier or match where everything is 5.0 it's still good, problem is 90% of matches you get now with it are full uptiers where you have 4 JU288s, 1 me264 or He177 and a DO335 against an enemy team usually consisting of 4 F2Gs, maybe a singular bomber and another Allied 6.0 superprop so you just get gangbanged by superprops, making the plane pretty garbage. There's also the issue that Gaijin completely fk'd cannons now where the HE filler basically doesn't work, so the 20mms don't blast stuff like they used to.
Yeah, the plane performed really well during the war. It was able to face every allied plane without problems and shoot down also the bombers. After the war, a lot of G55 was given to Israel to fight their wars against the Muslims.
