I tried Inkwell Press horizontal at the beginning of the year and while I loved several things about it I still moved out of it. The pros are the paper which is really nice, the leatherette covers and the discs. I really liked the layout as well and that the dates are big and easy to see. I ended up having issues with the color of the paper and the colors used on the days. They were hard for my eyes to focus on which can totally be a me thing!! I guess I need brighter colors in my old age!! I still would highly recommend the company to anyone that wants a nice disc planner it just was a miss for me. Thank you for the review.
Thank you for sharing your real review after use:) That is so helpful. I can imagine that might be an issue with these lighter colors. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your insight;)
Great review! I will say that I am not too much a fan of discs BUT I have learned to never say never again especially as far as planners go. I could see going w/ that dark navy cover and the gold or silver discs. I am like you and like to go along with the seasons as far as colors go and I just don't think I would want to look at gray in September and definitely not yellow in December. The idea of Plum Paper in the modern scheme to get the colorful tabs and just turn the color off for the pages themselves could happen though.
I hear ya on all accounts...LOL;) I agree I try to never say never;) Plum Paper does offer a lot more options and happier colors or brighter at least ;)
My first planner (after Franklin Covey, of course), was the Inkwell Press Quarterly Notebooks. So Inkwell Press has a special place in my heart. I really love their horizontal layout, and how well they use the page real-estate, but I just can't do their color schemes. Every year there is at least one color (and usually more) that I just really struggle with, and having to use that color for an entire month three times a year is tough! This year, I really only like the pinkish color, the yellow is okay, and the other two just feel so drab and depressing to me! It's too bad, because she makes such a great planner otherwise. (And I agree about moving the habit tracker to the front of the month.)
Hey Jana:) I remember that we both loved those quarterly books! that was an amazing product. I do wish she would choose happier colors that flowed with the seasons and changing monthly like EC;) I am pretty sure we are both on the same page about that! Thanks for sharing your thoughts & I hope the wedding was wonderful!
I'll have to go back and see if you did a review of the new Archer & Olive planner that I missed. Other than the Archer & Olive and Inkwell Press, can you think of any other planners that can handle a Sharpie marker? 🤔
I don't have a review of the new Archer & Olive:( I would love to review it- I didn't try to get it because I am booked up through the end of the year. Maybe next year;) I don't know any other paper in a planner that thick except Scribbles that matter on Amazon has come out with a few planners and I am not sure which of their paper weights they have in their planners...but I think it matches A&O if I remember correctly. I have a review of their bullet Journal- both Scribbles and A&O- but none of their planners. Hope that helps!
@AmandasFavorites Thank you for the thoughtful reply. Since you didn't have an Archer and Olive playlist, I figured you probably didn't have a review. I did find where someone else did a review of it and when they said there were no lines in the vertical weekly view, I was like, "Deal-breaker!"
I recently tried switching from inkwell to plum paper but I can’t get over how drastically thinner their paper is. 😢 I’ve been in iwp since 2016 and I’ve tried other systems a few times and I always go back to iwp. They just launched 2024 planners, would love to see a walk through of that if you have the capacity😊
Thank you for sharing your true thoughts Lindsey. IWP paper is like no other! Although Plum Paper does have good paper in the planner world...but I hear ya! I don't have any plans to do a 2024 IWP review anytime before the end of the year. I have to order their products with my referral points and their layouts never change drastically. So It's not a review I had planned to put out again so soon. I am sorry!
I love Inkwell Press. I love the paper and the color schemes. They make nice quality stuff! Buuuuut, Tonya had a podcast a few years ago where she talked about why she changed it Tanya with an "a" and alluded to having some "alternative and niche" political opinions. Which, left me a little uncomfortable. Since then I have been hesitant to support the company.
You mentioned that you didn't know if Tanya Dalton still has her Podcast; she does. And I'm pretty sure she sold Inkwell Press Co. I think she is still associated with the company but no longer owner.
The site says it is still 140gsm Paper Weight. That has been the case as I reviewed IWP almost yearly the past 5 years. Do you mean the feel of the paper changed? They might have picked a different brand of paper even if the weight is the same;)
too funny, just shows how different everyone's preference is. I LOVE the shaded boxes at the bottom. 😸
So true! We all have different preferences:) thanks for watching and taking time to share:)
Thanks for the code! I've been eyeing these planners for a while and finally went for it after watching your videos. Thanks!
Glad I could help!

Thanks for the detailed review, Amanda. This is really helpful! 🌻
You're so welcome!
Great review! Do you happen to know if the lines are college or wide ruled? Looks similar to the Makse lines but can't tell for sure.
They are measuring .5 cm just like Makselife;) Hope that helps!
So helpful!!! Really appreciate you taking time to respond.

Interesting. I don't know anything about that. But definitely only buy what you feel good about;)
You mentioned that you didn't know if Tanya Dalton still has her Podcast; she does. And I'm pretty sure she sold Inkwell Press Co. I think she is still associated with the company but no longer owner.
Oh, woah! I had no idea...I haven't followed them closely and didn't google anything before this video. Thanks for the information:)
Her planners used to be so functional and pretty. Now she wants you to plan her way and the planners aren't pretty anymore. It's a shame.
Thanks for watching and sharing your honest thoughts:)
Agreed, and the customer service is horrible.
I purchased inkwell press planners for several years • However I won't be buying her planners because the weight of the paper changed
When was that? I got some inserts from the site last month and love the paper.
The site says it is still 140gsm Paper Weight. That has been the case as I reviewed IWP almost yearly the past 5 years. Do you mean the feel of the paper changed? They might have picked a different brand of paper even if the weight is the same;)
The past 5 years it's always been 140gsm.
The pens I also used before with this planner never bled through but the paper bled for 2022 calendar year pages•
